If you plan to visit Sagamore Hill today, please note that the Nature Trail will be closed on March 11th due to forecasted dangerously high winds and the risk of falling trees. The rest of the grounds are free to enjoy until just after sunset!

Had to get out of the house a few times this weekend with this beautiful early spring weather!
If you haven't checked out Gardiner County Park yet, we definitely recommend it! We love the flexibility of walking through the woods or going to the beach at this super dog friendly park. There is also a playground, fitness trail, large & small dog runs, and agility park. πΎ

Since it's been so rainy lately, we went on a different kind of adventure - to the bakery! πͺ
Jinx has always loved Three Dog Bakery cookies, we were so pumped to see that one was opening on Long Island where we could get fresh ones! π
The store is beautiful, and the owners were so welcoming! So far Jinx and Luna have loved every treat they've tried (they have one each night before bed for dessert). π¦΄
Definitely recommended checking it out, we already can't wait to go back! Stay tuned for more treat tasting results π

Beginning on Tuesday, September 6th, 2022, two new dog parks in the Village of Babylon will be open for pooches to enjoy. One for our smaller canines and another for our larger friends. Both are located on Park Avenue directly behind the Village Basketball courts and with easy access for a beautiful walk into Southards Park, too!
As we continue to work on and nearing the completion of this project, the George Street and Locust Avenue dog parks will remain open until Tuesday, September 6th. Both George Street and Locust Avenue dog parks will then be permanently closed on that date.
We look forward to everyone enjoying our two new dog parks on Park Avenue and thanks to our Highway and Parks Departments as always for all their efforts and hard work!

The weather was perfect for an early evening stroll at Southwards Pond the other day! π³
We saw so many pups out and about, one even dipped their toes in the pond. So nice to see! πΎ
There are a couple different walking options here- a couple of short loops or you can continue your walk north (under the Southern State Pkwy) to Belmont Lake State Park, or south to Argyle Lake! If you're super adventurous, start at one end and walk all three! I believe the total length is somewhere around 9 miles.

Our favorite walk for St. Patrick's Day! βοΈ Castle Gould at the Sands Point Preserve was modeled after Ireland's Kilkenny castle!π° Come along on our most recent walk there! Come along on a quick walk at Edgewood Oak Brush Plains Preserve, site of the former Edgewood State Hospital/Mason General Hospital. πΎ There are more than 23 miles of hiking and biking trails in this 800+ acre preserve! This particular walk we opted to walk Old Commack Rd since we were losing daylight quick! When the hospital was erected, the road was moved to the Commack Rd we know today! πΈ Edgewood State Hospital aka Mason General Hospital was built in the 1940s, originally funded by the Works Progress Administration. It was commandeered by the War Department during WWII for soldiers with PTSD and other battle trauma. At the conclusion of the war, it was turned over to the state, and was used primarily as the tubercular ward for the adjacent Pilgrim State Hospital before ceasing operations in 1971. There were 10 buildings- the final building was demolished around 1990-91, but you can still see fire hydrants, the old rail spur, manhole covers for the tunnel system, and other clues to the properties former use throughout the preserve. π₯ So much interesting history on our little island, we love learning about our favorite hiking spots, what about you? π: Edgewood Oak Brush Plains Preserve, Deer Park, NY #TheTailGuide #LongIsland #hikingwithdogs #DogsofLongIsland #DogFriendly #TailsOnTrails
