How do we begin- how do we prepare? when we choose to ride with a bitless bridle?
Red revealed that even when he had not been in training for over three years- with a bitless bridle- he responded with listening ears- his joy was visual- as was mine.
At the heart of our riding- is our relationship and ours took a battering over the past years. Our secure bond built at home was tested- I lost confidence- and so did he!
---- but after waiting patiently for Red and also for me- to come together - the timing felt right- lets go- lets grow- lets have fun together!
My faith in ground work had paid off- my videos offer a progressive programme of ground work- with minimal tack and subtle connection which form basic building blocks to build a bond and support an athletic and supple horse.
Time spent grooming, just being around, watching responses, just learning more and understanding behaviour patterns- all this gives a firm foundation for bitless riding.
So time now to re build on these foundations--
Self awareness is key- my TOP to TOE is alive and well- and again so important for us as riders-
Yesterday I worked through Top to Toe and felt well prepared to pop in the saddle- -

INTERVIEW WITH A CRANIAL OSTEOPATH

• The most direct way to transform performance is to change the pattern of breathing.
• When horses perform in fear/flight mode- they are shallow breathing-
• Deeper steady core breathing sustains energy and function
• Restriction of natural movement, suppresses mental capacity, creates stress and impedes natural flow
• Any restriction of the tongue directly affects energy, rate and performance. The tongue is capable of highly sensory sensations. The vascular tongue is connected to the thyroid gland- regulator of energy/rate/performance.
• Suppression of tongue movement and swallowing restricts performance.
• The muscles of the underside of the neck finish at the jaw- These muscles are responsible for chewing- a relaxed jaw will assist relaxation through the poll area.
• Restriction in the poll area will create huge tension and excess mouthing.
• Horse structure is supported by an important layer of fascia (like packing material!) Important impulses transport messages through the body- giving instructions on how to respond. Long term memory is stored within the fascia- with every physical trauma is stored an emotional memory. These communications become disturbed when the natural flow of motion is impeded.
• The head and neck counter balance the motion from the hind limbs- any restriction creates imbalance and inability to co-ordinate.
• Movement from the front limbs dictates depth of breathing as it creates a pumping action through rib cage and lungs.

These nerves maybe sensory or motor, Jenny has designed the Gentil so that it offers minimal pressure.

'The bridle is incredibly soft leather, with padding in all the right places. The headpiece sits perfectly, due to its anatomical shape and there are no buckles around the more sensitive areas 😁
Although I fell in love with the bridle as soon as I took it out the package, zigs was the one who had to really decide how good it was.
So... The first day we had it, zigs and I went on our first ever bitless hack and then schooled on it later that week.
It was incredible! My normally strong and opinionated horse was super soft, supple and responsive to my aids. He went like a dream 🤩. We even managed out canter to walk transitions without looking like we were trying to stop before hitting a brick wall!!
I can not recommend this bridle enough 🦄

Recently our GENTIL BITLESS bridles have been delivered to Australia, Sweden, USA - and of course, UK.
Katrina Gray from New York, just sent me some photos of her NEW GENTIL as I always comment about fitting to ensure maximum comfort for the horse.
Normally we encourage Clients to TRIAL the bridle which does help us achieve very good results as we can fit the NEW GENTIL against the measurements from the TRIAL Bridle
I am suggesting maybe one hole lower for the nose band but- even photos can be deceiving. I will ask for more detail, to see the GENTIL in use- either in ground work or ridden
I love the enthusiasm I receive -- only this week I received an order for a second bridle - from one of our happy customers.
I spend hours talking looking at measurement charts, photos videos, talking with our Master saddler Chrissy, ( I have known her for 40 years!!!) We share a passion for horses and Chrissy has a wealth of expertise in her craftsmanship.
We both discuss in depth every bridle try to ensure it is truly made to measure for each horse- it all takes time but we feel its a pleasure these days to offer a caring service with the personal touch as I feel this is so much missing these days.

We are very excited to announce the launch of our new website www.naturallyclassical.com It's packed full of all the useful information you have come to expect from us, but it has a fresh, contemporary new look and is much easier to navigate.

Hi Jenny, I've ridden in the school a couple of times and he's only been ridden a couple of times bitless before but this bridle was a whole new experience. It's lovely, what I like is that I seem to be paying more attention to my seat and legs, he's also stretching nicely and listening to my seat. In all its a much more intuitive way of riding and he's very comfortable in it. We covered lateral work, walk and trot and some canter leg yield and changing rein, walk pirouettes, riding a square at walk and rein back work. In hand he offered a nice Piaffe and passage, also small passage under saddle too. Very soft and very light. Next will come hacking out alone and then with company.
The bridle is incredibly soft leather, with padding in all the right places. The headpiece sits perfectly, due to its anatomical shape and there are no buckles around the more sensitive areas 😁
