And to end this season of Dogs… my own much-loved Finn, a wire fox terrier, aged 11. Re-homed to us at 16 months, via Fox Terrier Rescue. Inquisitive, gentle, tough, independent, dependable, beautiful… The person who brought him to us one November day in 2009 said he did not have a bad bone in his body. She was right. Finn.

Two for the price of one: this is Fergus in the green collar and Monty in the purple, 4 month old brother Airedales. They live in adjacent houses and converse through the fence. Conversing involves a lot of nose licking.

Mid week!
This is Duke, aged 15 months, a black Labrador. Duke is a water-diviner. It is said he can discover it, and get into it, just about anywhere he goes.

This is Finzi, aged one and a half, an Irish terrier. Irish or not his name is Italian, with both composer Gerald and politician Aldo in his background. This Finzi is more interested in sticks.

This is Shadow, aged 5, a springer spaniel. Once Shadow realised he couldn't catch birds he resolved that at least he would never let their shadows get away. Or any shadows. Hence... True story. Honest. He’s a shadow-chaser.

This is Tilly again, impatient for that ball to be thrown.

At the end of this week, Friday, Dogs of Earlham Park is being put on hold for the winter months. Thank you all for letting me introduce you to some of the great dogs who hang out in the park across the road from me.

This is Tilly, aged almost 11, a black Labrador. Tilly has the highly developed ball skills and tenacity of the Canary’s top goal scorer Teemu Pukki, though Teemu Pukki probably spends less time in the river.

Good old Saturday!
This is Dexter, aged 4, a spaniel/poodle cross, some sources report. Dexter is the proud possessor of his very own pink pig. Not many dogs can say that. No. Not many.

This is Meadow, aged 9, a collie/Labrador cross. Meadow has her own stick and has no desire for her sister Polly’s stick. But Polly won’t listen.

This is Polly, aged 2, a collie. Polly the collie is fond of her older sister Meadow, but when it comes down to it, sticks are thicker than blood.

This is Kimbi, aged 3, a Labrador/German shepherd cross. Kimbi, a dog clearly welcome anywhere, spends his time alternating between two homes. It’s a mother and daughter thang. He had stopped off here for a snack in the Earlham Park Cafe.

This is Dulcie, only 9 months, a golden retriever. Dulcie believes that a good immersion in the river is necessary to bring out the full flavour of even the best stick.

Never seen one of these before!
This is Nuria, aged 4, a Catalan shepherd. Named after the Virgin of Núria, the patron saint of the Pyrenees, this Nuria began life as a Spanish resident, but now undertakes her toning and trimming work in the Park.

This is Poppy, aged almost 6, a West Highland white terrier: a Westie guarding her bestie, the tennis ball. Poppy believes that a Westie is a big dog in a little dog’s body, and is happy to demonstrate.

Good old Sunday!
This is Freddie, aged 10, a black Labrador. Freddie combines the speed and agility of a three year old with the serenity and wisdom of an old man of eleven or twelve. We can only look on in envy.

Not the weekend again!
This is Billy, aged a young-looking 14, and a Tibetan terrier. Originally from Norwich, he was re-homed to the Dereham area many years ago. He nevertheless still sometimes visits the Park and relives memories of his youth.

This is Otto, aged 3, a Hungarian vizsla. Palindrome Otto was briefly stationary, then a lot more animated. There was speculation that it was a dance from his native country. Or perhaps someone was just being silly.

This is Nellie, aged just about 20 weeks, a miniature Schnauzer, but already a Park regular. Nellie is a new young sister for Connie, a standard Schnauzer who appeared here a few weeks ago. Nellie does ‘pirate’ impressions, but is otherwise cool.

Wednesday. And why not?
This is Big Jack, aged 8, a greyhound, and former habitué of the Great Yarmouth race track, with seventeen wins under his dog collar. Thankfully retired for almost five years, he still recalls his youth in Tipperary, Ireland.

This is Jasper, aged 7, a springer spaniel. Jasper has his own ball. His ball. He keeps it. Get the idea? So no more of this throwing and fetching nonsense.

A new week! Wow!
This is Drogo, aged 4, a lurcher/standard poodle cross. Drogo came originally from the Fens, once-upon-a-time Viking country. He insists Drogo is an old Viking name, and that he has never heard of Game of Thrones.

This is Boswell, aged 3, a Border terrier. Boswell is a gentleman who likes to live well. Days frequently begin with a morning dip in the Yare, followed, as seen here, by a fox poo roll.

This is Harley, aged 5 months, a shih tzu. Harley, on the left here, greeting a friend, despises squeaky toys, as any motor-bikin’ dog probably would.

This is Mona, aged almost 5, a shar-pei. Intellectually-minded Mona is a lady possibly considering puppies, a source close to her remarked. Mona did not comment.

This is Grimsby, aged 1 year, a Parson Russell. If it moves he chews it, if it doesn't move he chews it. He’s a chew meister.

Wednesday!
This is Gracie, aged, believe it or not, 6 years, an Italian greyhound. Gracie spent her early years in Brighton, but has happily exchanged those stony beaches for the grassy banks of the Yare.

This is Rocco, aged 6, a poodle/bichon cross. Rocco had just dropped into the Park to seize a quick run-swim-roll opportunity between pressing engagements.

Yes, it's Monday. All day.
This is Sky, aged 5, and a golden Labrador. Sky lives with Buddy, another golden Labrador, seen here just a few weeks ago, and they share a birthday, May 18th. Nevertheless Sky maintains they are NOT related.

Sunday, snooze day!
This is Molly, aged 7, a Jack Russell/Staffordshire terrier cross. Molly was five when she came from Rescue, with spine and back leg troubles. Now she is a ball-chasing blur, a triumph of care and will over adversity.

This is Teabag, aged 8, a Jack Russell/dachshund cross, with perhaps a trace of whippet. Creatively-named Teabag is a lady who avoids the water, but loves meeting squirrels and going local shopping.

This is Woody, aged 7, a cocker spaniel/Yorkshire terrier cross, with a possible Lhaso apso tail. His youthful appearance, the result of careful diet and regular exercise, often surprises people.

This is Sheldon, aged 6, and a Labrador/poodle cross. Sheldon is quite local, living upriver on the Yare, but coming downstream to the Park for his varied water-sports.

This is Terry, aged 3, a French bulldog. Terry was having a quick snack and taking the sunshine under a table at Earlham Park Cafe when our paths crossed. He recommends Earlham Park Cafe.

This is Jemma, aged just 5 months, a golden Labrador. She’s fond of water, licking ears and chasing things, but she specializes in sniffing, Here she demonstrates her art.

A whole new week! Aren't we lucky!
This is Bella, aged 2, a Staffordshire bull terrier. Batteries fully charged, Bella is faster than a speeding bullet, as zippy as a zippy thing.
