Addressing behavioral issues, starting from zero with a brand new puppy, or building a relationship with a rescue through training can feel SO overwhelming! We get it!
That’s exactly why we created our High Tail Academy- an online library or programs with video demonstrations, explicit instructions, and explanations for a whole host of commands. Take just 18 minutes a day, and just $30 a month, and watch your life with your dog change drastically!
All the convenience of #onlineclasses with all the support of #localbusiness and a community of dedicated #dogowners just like you to grow alongside!
Find more details at HighTailHeroes.com, or book a free consultation if you’d like!
We so appreciate receiving support like this from our community! Nominations are open for two more days and then all that is left is to vote vote vote!
At High Tail we train for a wide variety of skills with our clients, and with that variety comes a range of tools! We use target pads, scent scraps, long lines, clickers, kennels, sound machines- all manner of positive reinforcement tools! But there are three things I have in any training setting!
🦮 a stop watch/clock or phone
It is so easy to lose sight of progress when you’re not timing your “stay” or your “heel” or even just your session length!
🦮 poop bags… and extra poop bags
I mean, duh, dog poop doesn’t harmlessly degrade, and we’re not feral enough as dog owners to leave our mess to find someone else’s shoes. PLUS I have endless stories of other unsavory items I’ve disposed of in a poop bag!
🦮 planned rewards
Before you jump all over me with “I don’t want to carry treats forever” … I didn’t say treats, did I? Rewards can be toys, treats, physical affection, praise, or opportunities. But actively considering what I am asking my dog to work FOR keeps my head on straight that training is partnership, and it’s my JOB to make the work worth it for both of us!

In case there is any remaining doubt, this is just your happy reminder that at High Tail, all breeds are welcome, celebrated, and set up for lifelong success!
Have the best week!

This little lady is living a whole new life this Spring after working for three months on her socialization and multi-dog home manners! It was so wonderful to watch her enjoy the lovely day in the park without fear!
@tvdogpros has announced their next event! Will we see you there?
Big thank you to @thedaltonroyal for their support and @handandpaworg for all their hard work keeping dogs in this valley fed and at home!
If you follow this page- you likely love your dogs. I would hope so, anyway!
If you do, you know that meeting their needs can be a learning curve! What food is best for them, how to train them, how to keep home safe for them, it’s all as unique as your dog!
When it comes to meeting the needs of our dogs MINDS it can get even more confusing!
Enrichment refers to any way we add mental stimulation and satiation to our dogs’ days. It makes an unbelievable difference in your dogs’ quality of life, improve training, reduce anxiety, prevent destructive behavior, and so many other benefits! And it can be so many things!
If you’d like any of the High Tail enrichment specials, just shoot us a mess
We could not be more proud of the network of INCREDIBLE dog owners, dog professionals, rescues, walkers, sitters, vets, groomers, and just plain DOG LOVERS who chose to tell Idaho Favorites that we’re valued by this community! Thank you for your trust, your votes, your business, thank you for all of it!
Wherever we happen to be working on home improvement- Houston will be there making a spectacle of himself 😂. We worked hard in the first years of our boys lives on making sure they could safely participate in as much of our daily lives as possible. And while this wasn’t what “place” looked like to begin with, its evolution still keeps the dogs safe, the people productive, and now we get a few good laughs in the process!
Does your dog “place”?
There’s no greater joy or satisfaction for a trainer than watching a dog thrive in their life and skills, and for a service dog, the joy they take in their work is just the same. Simple, powerful, gratifying.
We are currently taking on new service dogs!
Where we live, work, play, vacation… these places are all full of sounds and smells and experiences that can be confusing or overwhelming to our dogs. Training sessions like this are GOLD for tolerant and well behaved animals!

I don’t make the rules, if you train with High Tail, your dog = my monkey. 🙋♀️😅🫣 In all seriousness, nobody has you and your dog’s back like a trainer who is putting all their knowledge and experience in your corner!

“I just want my dog to not pull on the leash”SO many training relationships start out with this goal! But is that REALLY what you want as a dog owner? Just to not feel tension on the leash? More often what ‘not pulling’ is conveying is “I want to work together with my dog to enjoy our walks more with less stress and conflict- I want them to listen to me, to be calm and confident, and for both of us to get what we need from the walks together instead of suffering through it both frustrated and tired.”In this video, I talk with a client, sure. And while I’m sure I was giving great advice! 😉 But the more important communication is what you see from these two dogs! They both demonstrate awareness of where we are, and of each other calmly and voluntarily, without being dependent on tension on a leash. They keep an eye, and an ear on their handlers without being forced, and walk cooperatively! For more information on COOPERATIVE walking instead of leash walking- you know where to find us!

Meet Cash! Years ago, Cash came into the High Tail family with lots of the standard “working breed” behaviors. He pulled on leash, didn’t trust new people readily, and was HIGH energy.
Cash needed mental stimulus, practice with controlled engagement, and some socialization to love life in high and low gears!
If you hear something in Cash’s behavior that sounds familiar, or if you just want more moments like this one with your dog- training can absolutely give you the tools you’re looking for!
