A big thank you to Joy Stock as she finishes up her 2021 internship with us! Joy is an Animal Science major at the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) with plans to help care for horses as an Equine Nutritionist or Veterinarian. The focus of her internship with us has been to reach out to horse owners about their forage feeding program so we can better understand how to make sure horses can get this foundational part of their diet. A big thanks to those of you who were contacted by her, and who helped with the survey! Joy shares our passion for seeing that horses get the right nutrition to keep them healthy in the first place, and we have been grateful to have her help us with this effort!

This is a fantastic course that would be beneficial to any horse owner. Dr. Carey Williams does an excellent job covering a lot of great information about horse health and nutrition. It is a time commitment, but it's well worth it, and you certainly an example of "the more you put into it the more you will get out of it."

I had to go out and take a picture of the log cabin in our back yard this morning. This is the log cabin our family built when they settled here in 1871. On this November day, 150 years ago, Gustaf became the first member of our family born in America and went on to become the second generation to run this farm. The cabin had no windows or doors that day as it wasn’t yet finished being built. Christina saw to it that if she had to give birth to a child in a cabin with no windows or doors in Minnesota in November that we would still be talking about it 150 years later!

This year marks our family farm's Sesquicentennial anniversary - 150 years of farming in the same place! It has taken an enormous amount of work through a lot of ups and downs, but we're very grateful to have made it here, and we are looking forward to many years to come. We are especially thankful for all of you who buy our complete diet hay biscuits. Your support helps us to devote more of our land to alfalfa and grass, and less to traditional row crops. Alfalfa and grass are much better for our soil and groundwater than traditional row crops. So your support helps us to sustain our healthy soils for the next 150 years. Thank you all!

Our Senior Supper biscuits are specifically made to be much softer than traditional Western cubes so they can be eaten by older horses that may have poorer teeth. They can typically be broken up between your thumb and index finger.
