Dearest little Dave, where are you?

Yesterday we celebrated Grans surprise 60th birthday party. It was another special occasion you weren't here for šŸ’”.

Sammy boy is still mopping around the house looking for his loyal little pal.
We can tell his personality has went quiet in your absence. For a little doggy your presence is huge and a big part of our lives, we need you home.

Please give yourself up, approach someone, anyone!! Kilmarmock all know about you, youā€™re the most famous daschund in the area, come on wee man please!!

We are still making enquiries into getting a visual confirmation on local cctv but in the meantime we pray your sighted again and maybe feel brave enough to aporoach someone and ask for help.

All of the support far and wide is greatly appreciated. All your kind words and messages at this awful, heartbreaking time.

Please can all the kind, lovely and caring people of Kilmarnock keep sharing. Daves social media plays a huge part in keeping him in the public eye and we are relying so much on information coming in from the public.

Hey everyone Daves mum here.
First of all wanted to give you a little update.
We had the search dogs down last night and lead to a new area of interest so we are making enquiries into this area. After the dogs worked Mark, myself and the handlers stayed into the small hours to see what we could see and what we believe was a small dog was sited three times. It was pitch black so we cant say 100% that its our boy but we are hopeful and putting things in place to get confirmation.

Due to the location, we cannot at this moment say where it is until we get all the relevent permissions and confirmations its our boy.

And we also want to say a huge thank you to Kilmarnock police for their quick response and understanding last night.

Stay safe and please keep sharing Daves face,
keeping the awareness going is key.

Come home little one x

07/08/2020

Does anyone know if thereā€™s a report of a lost dog, or if thereā€™s a small dog thatā€™s allowed to roam around this area in shortlees? X

07/08/2020

K9 team are coming tonight, so we have everything crossed they will find Dave, or at least lead us to an area we can start again to try to trap him.
Myself and the team of volunteers are taking the night off to let the dogs do their stuff.
If thereā€™s any news you will all be the first to hear.
Come home Dave, please šŸ¤ž

Liz x

06/08/2020

Come on Davey Davey Doo.
Time for home now baby man.
The boys miss you playing with your toys with them.
They miss giggling with you.
We all miss you so so much šŸ’™

06/08/2020

Still no updates. The team were out searching yesterday, looking for tiny footprints in the mud after all that rain, but there was nothing.
Every day without a sighting is harder on Daveā€™s family and the volunteers.
I know you all look for daily updates and every day we have done this to make sure everyone is kept aware because you have taken him to your hearts. Going forward we will continue with updates regularly, but not daily.
At this stage we need to again raise awareness, so we will be focusing on getting posters out there, running a story in the local paper and radio stations.
Thank you to everyone who shares the posts too, itā€™s great and very much appreciated. X

04/08/2020

Still no sightings of Dave.
We got reports of a daxie being found in knightswood but it wasnā€™t Dave and he was found quickly by his owners thankfully.
We put a camera out in another area where several people reported whimpering, but had to remove it quickly when a couple of boys seemed to be looking for something near the camera. It wasnā€™t somewhere that had a path and we wouldnā€™t have expected anyone to be walking. Just in case we had been spotted putting it up, it was removed.
Locals told us there is a fox den nearby but we will continue to monitor this.
We ask that everyone keeps their eyes peeled, which I know you are all doing, and report any sightings to the owners ASAP.
If thereā€™s any area you see without a poster, feel free to print this one off, laminate it and put it on a lamp post or bus stop.
Thank you šŸ™ x

Still no sightings of Dave šŸ˜°
We know you are all on the look out for him and hope we get a sighting soon. X

02/08/2020

Dear Dave,

It's been 34 days, 860 hours and a whole lot of heartbroken minutes since you were attacked by that off lead and out of control dog. Not a second goes by where we don't relive that horrifying moment over and over.

We need you home little boy. There is a sausage dog sized hole in our hearts and home. The twins miss their big brother protecting them as they nap or rolling about the carpet making them giggle and Sam boy is missing his loyal cuddle companion. The ache in us all is unbareable.

We have a solid team behind us who are guiding us through the pain. Weā€™ve learned so much about lost dogs and their behaviours we would never have thought you would be so independent without us, but we are glad youā€™re still being seen and are reported to be looking ok. We just wish you would look ok back home with us all little man.

Please Dave come home, give yourself up to someone, anyone we need you back so so badly. We know you can do it baby man.

If you happen to spot Dave in your travels please if you can take a picture or a video report the direction he came from and where he went so we can get someone there as soon as possible but please do not shout him or chase him, just observe. All of your lovely messages of support mean the world to us.

Thank you from Dave's family x

02/08/2020

Still no sightings of Dave. I know so many of you are looking out for him on your travels and all we can ask is you do that and report any sightings ASAP. X

01/08/2020

We had 2 potential sightings of Dave over the last 2 days. One was ruled out after cctv was checked. The other could have been a baby fox in long grass but we will continue to check this.
It was too windy with gusts yesterday to put the drone up but today is showing on the app as okay to fly.
So, the search continues. X

30/07/2020

The drone was flown yesterday in the area of the reported sighting but no luck.
No further sightings last night.
Thanks to all the volunteers working tirelessly.

29/07/2020

Hey all you amazing people in and around Kilmarnock šŸ˜˜

Its Daves Mum here. I just want to say thank you all for your continued support and following our wee boys story.

Dave has still not let his safe place be known to us and continues to go unseen. Which is causing our family a great deal of worry and sadness.

The sighting we received last night places our little boy in a new, untouched area and we would like to appeal to all the dog lovers, walkers, runners, post men and woman and any delivery drivers in and around the moorfield/premier in/cook school area.

We would appreciate it, if you could all continue to share Daves page to help us raise awareness and spread the word. We rely so much on the public for any information that comes in and we are available to act on anything that comes in and are keen to get our own eyes on our boy to give us peace of mind he is doing ok.

If you think you can see Dave please try and take a photo or video and please note the location he was seen the direction of travel and if he was running or walking. Just donā€™t approach him please. Call us or message ASAP.

Also it is more than possible that the sighting was him as there is a railway line that leads right there from the area he went missing and lost dogs tend to do this sometimes and we used to live in that area as well.

Thank you all once again for all your lovely messages of support it's what's getting us through such a horrible, scary time.

Daves Mum x

29/07/2020

Bit of an eventful night. We had a reported sighting of Dave outwith the area we have been searching.
We never rule out anything, so again the team worked tirelessly to cover this area, but the spotters had no luck.
If anyone is willing to sit in a car and ā€œspotā€ for a few hours through the night (we have rotas) please pm the page.
We have to know you wonā€™t get out the car for anything though as this is important to getting him home.
Thanks. X

28/07/2020

No updates today. If the weather is kind the drone will be up later to help with the search.

27/07/2020

Dave clearly doesnā€™t like rain. No updates today sorry. X

26/07/2020

šŸ–šŸ–šŸ–šŸ–šŸ–šŸ–šŸ–šŸ–
Thanks so much to everyone.
The Ayrshire people now have a thermal drone and thermal scope to help with missing pets.
Please try not to lose yours for a while though as Iā€™m still dealing with Dave. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

26/07/2020

Dave was spotted briefly once last night but nothing else to report sorry. X

25/07/2020

Me and Mark would like to give a big shout out to the team Search Dogs For Lost Dogs Scotland who have been absolutely outstanding coming 3 times now, off their own back from 2 and a half hours away to help us find Dave. The amount of time and effort these girls and their amazing K9 sniffer dogs have gave us absolutely unbelievable. They are so passionate and genuine about what they do. Please go over to their page and give it a like as they truly deserve it. Who knows, they could be helping you with your lost doggy one day.

Thank you so much to Liz Milligan who has been the leader of our search for nearly the last 4 weeks and supported and helped us when itā€™s been tough going cause it really is an emotional rollercoaster. Itā€™s amazing what these volunteers do to help families. We appreciate the effort she has put into our search for wee dave. ā¤ļø Also a big thank you to everyone else for your continued support and efforts of all our volunteers (spotters) who are helping along on this journey. Without you all, we would be so stuck. šŸ’™ LETS GET DAVE HOME šŸ¶ x

25/07/2020

Dave was spotted tonight but evaded us again.
Thanks to all the volunteers who are helping us and a big thanks to the K9 team Search Dogs For Lost Dogs Scotland who travelled from Fife and have literally just finished helping with the search.
Had it not been for their thermal scope we wouldnā€™t have seen him. X

Can I again appeal for anyone who hasnā€™t donated to give just a little to help us purchase a thermal scope to help not only Dave, but other dog owners in Ayrshire in future. This costs (Ā£2,600 and we only have Ā£800 to go). You can donate to PayPal [email protected] and accounts will be available for anyone who wishes to see them.

24/07/2020

No sightings last night so the search continues. šŸ˜” x

23/07/2020

Nothing to update today sorry. The rain is not our friend.
We will keep trying and promise to update if thereā€™s any news. X

22/07/2020

The thermal drone found a spot of interest which we will continue to monitor.
No sighting of Dave last night but his mum and dad tells us he doesnā€™t like the rain.
Regarding the post about the brick being thrown in the trap. I met the person who did this. When asked why he felt the need to throw a brick into the cage, this was his response, verbatim.
ā€œIā€™m a hunter, I hunt rabbits and foxes even though Iā€™m not supposed to. I even hunt deer on special occasions. I know how all traps work and I wouldnā€™t have broken it with a brickā€ šŸ¤”
Heā€™s been advised why the trap was placed where it was and is aware we want Dave home.
Not casting aspersions or looking for a debate, simply keeping everyone updated.

21/07/2020

Yesterday the drone was used, but unfortunately there was no sightings.
Through the night, same as every night for a couple of weeks, our amazing team of volunteers ā€œspotā€ for sightings of Dave.
We did have a sighting, which after yesterdayā€™s events was a massive relief. A thermal scope showed that out of several cats and two foxes, one of the sightings was Dave.
Daschunds are resilient and very difficult to catch and Dave certainly isnā€™t letting his breed down.
The drone will be back out today.
In the meantime could we once again ask if you could, if you havenā€™t already, donate to purchase a thermal scope to help missing pets in Ayrshire.
This has been borrowed from a charity and has proved invaluable in telling the difference between foxes, cats and Dave.
We had a very generous donation of Ā£1,000 from Go Play Go Sniff Ayrshire, and are hoping to raise the rest of the money to purchase a scope ASAP (it costs Ā£2,500).
You can donate to the just giving page (the thermal drone target was reached and purchased), fees are payable. Or to PayPal [email protected] (no fees and this account will be made available for anyone who wishes to see it for transparency purposes).
Also just wanted to let the people know that follow the page. The K9 team and their handlers (Search Dogs For Lost Dogs Scotland) have travelled to Kilmarnock twice, a 5 hour round trip, to help us find Dave again when he has moved on.
I got a lovely message from them yesterday to say they have never worked on a search where there have been as many posters in the town, that so many volunteers have dedicated their time to initially searching and now ā€œspottingā€ and that so many people care for someoneā€™s wee pet dog - and thatā€™s down to all of you.
Thank you. šŸŒ¹šŸŒ¹

20/07/2020

Major setback today folks.
These lovely people have found the trap and thrown a brick into it so there is a chance it will have broken the spring in the trap borrowed from another charity. šŸ˜©
As this area has been disturbed we can no longer try to trap Dave here.
So we are now going to have to wait and see if heā€™s moved on.
If it hadnā€™t been for several of our volunteers getting to the trap so quickly we may not have had the trap or cameras today.
Does anyone recognise them/the dog.
There are posters everywhere and I do appreciate people saying ā€œthey may not know what itā€™s forā€ however, the cage isnā€™t designed to have a brick thrown into it as it is for a small dog.
They were also telling myself and one of the other ladies who is assisting from the K9 team to ā€œf offā€ when we were asking them to leave it alone.

20/07/2020

Good news for you all this morning. Dave was spotted again last night.
Thank you all for not searching.
If heā€™s not disturbed in his safe place we hope to catch him soon.

19/07/2020

Sorry folks no update again. There have been sightings by the spotting team so we know heā€™s out there.
We have rotas made up and the team are covering areas where we think he is.
A feeding station had been set up but we had no luck last night.
A lot of people were around and enjoying the lifting of lockdown, so Iā€™m sure there will be a few sore heads today, from what I saw.
We will update as soon as we have news and I know a lot if you are rooting for Dave to get home.
We are hopeful that will be soon.
Just a wee reminder of what to do if you see him and this is so important or we will lose him again.
Please donate to [email protected]
So far we have raised Ā£3k to buy a drone. We need a thermal imaging camera which costs Ā£2.5k and only have Ā£700 to go until target.
Thanks lease help.

18/07/2020

Not much to say today except to thank our amazing team of volunteers and with whatā€™s going on behind the scenes we hope Dave will be home soon. šŸ™šŸ™

17/07/2020

Thanks to the extra volunteers yesterday who picked up the spotters roles. Itā€™s really appreciated.
Still no sighting of Dave yesterday but we know heā€™s out there as the K9 dogs (Search Dogs For Lost Dogs Scotland) got his fresh scent.
If everyone can still have a look when they are out in their cars, but please donā€™t search on foot.
Any sightings please call ASAP.
Thank you all for your help.

Help raise Ā£3000 to Purchase a thermal imagine drone to help search for missing pets on a voluntary basis. If you have a pet please support this fundraiser.

Thanks to the lovely ladies from the K9 team who worked tirelessly with their amazing dogs till gone 1am.

There are still fresh scents of Dave, so heā€™s out there.

The last reported sighting on Tuesday looks like it was him.

He has moved on from his safe place but we are hoping that we have somewhere to start looking for him again.

We would like to thank everyone for their help so far and for the donations they have pledged for the drone fund. You have all been amazing and thanks to your generosity the Ā£3,000 needed to buy the drone has been reached. Unfortunately due to Covid itā€™s going to be 2/3 weeks before it arrives instead of the usual 24 hours.

Mark has been using a thermal scope borrowed from a charity which has been invaluable, but unfortunately it has to be returned soon.

If no one has any objection, Iā€™m going to leave the fundraiser running to enable me to purchase one of these (it can be delivered in 24 hours).

The amazing Go Play Go Sniff Ayrshire have already donated Ā£1,000 to help get this as soon as possible. Another Ā£1,500 is needed and it will be available for Mark and to help owners of missing pets in Ayrshire (we have also located an injured cat whilst using it for Daveā€™s search so we are watching out to see if we can help him/her).

If you havenā€™t already, given please consider doing this as it may not only help Dave, but it may help you one day.

You can donate to [email protected] (no fees and accounts available if anyone wants to see them) or the just giving link below (fees payable).

Thanks. Letā€™s get Dave home soon.

I have around 100 laminated posters if anyone would like to kindly collect some from my house and put them up from Grants, Strawberry Bank rd, Kay Park, Scott Ellis, London rd, New Farm. Poster any traffic lights also on the route. Thanks. Pm me for address x

15/07/2020

There was a sighting of a small dog yesterday evening. As soon as we found out we headed from where we were searching to the sighting, but unfortunately could not see anything.
Volunteers sat out with borrowed thermal scopes from a charity all night, but as we donā€™t know his new safe place yet, they had no luck.
The person who saw the dog was unaware Dave was missing so it was over an hour until the message got to us (completely not the fault of the person but thanks to the one who called on immediately finding out).
The best plan of action is if volunteers would be willing to pick up leaflets from Sophie and put them into poly pockets upside down or laminate them (we will reimburse any costs) and basically get them on every traffic light around London rd, Scott Ellis, queens drive, Kay park, main roads to new farm do that any drivers can see them when they stop at the lights.
Same with bus stops in these areas.
If anyone is willing to help please let us know.
Thank you all again for caring so much about this wee fur baby.
