As a volunteer caseworker for Lost Dogs of Wisconsin, I think this form is important. I would tell my pet sitter that my dogs are fine offleash, but at the end of the day they are animals. I can't promise a sitter they wouldn't take off after a rabbit. And if something ever happened I would never want my sitter to feel like it was their fault. Accidents happen everyday. You make that call whether you consent to your dog(s) being offleash and there is no right or wrong answer.

Blue Pearl is closing in Green Bay. Their Appleton location will remain open and can take emergencies just FYI. There is a new emergency clinic opening in Appleton as well. I know that doesn't much help since Appleton is a hike for most of us. But in the event of an emergency hopefully two clinics lower wait times.

I don't post a lot of photos of my pet sitting adventures. It's because I like to have permission to do so. So if you haven't filled out this form, you don't see me posting anything about your pets (unless I asked you personally). I believe in privacy. And because I am pet sitting in your home, I want to respect your privacy as much as I can. There's too many people out there today who go and take pictures and throw them on Facebook without consideration for who is in them. I try my best to be courteous.

And here is the pet guardianship form I had mentioned. Different from the emergency contact form. This is who you would like to leave your pets to long term. If you want me to call your parents in Florida to come get your pets or come stay with your pets because you've been in an accident, then that is what I need to know on this form.

The next thing in the folder will be Pet Information. It's 3 pages. You will receive one for every dog you have. So if you have 3 dogs, you'll get 3 copies, 9 pages total.

Home Instructions: the most important thing I can emphasize about this form is I have a right to know if I am being filmed in any way. Recently I took a job, gave them the folder to fill out, which they left 90% of it blank, and then found out once they got home that they had the ability to watch me. I am a trust worthy person but at least tell me where the cameras are so I know not to do something embarrassing like pick my nose 😆 All jokes aside I think we can all agree we don't want to be filmed without our knowledge.

The next form is the Owner Information form. It's important that I have contact information for all responsible owners in case of an emergency.

The emergency contacts section should be who I can call in the event of emergency like a family member, friend, co-worker, neighbor, etc. There will be another form in the folder asking you in the event of an emergency situation for YOU (not your pets) who you'd like as your pets' guardian. This does not have to be the same person as your emergency contact. So to summarize, your emergency contact on this form should be who I can call if I have an emergency and can't get to your home. Someone who can get there quickly. On the other form should be who you'd leave your pets to in case you have an emergency and can't get back home at the end of the scheduled time frame. I am usually pretty flexible but I doubt you want to rack up pet sitter fees if you are critically ill or have been involved in an accident.

There is also a separate form for vet info in the folder so if you don't fill out this section on this form that's okay. Like I mentioned yesterday this information can get repetitive.

If you are asking me tospend the night with your dog(s) or be responsible for your dogs for a more than a 24 hour period without you returning home, I will likely give you a folder with some paperwork to complete.

I always tell clients to "fill out as much on the forms that you think I need to know."

Some of the information is repetitive but it helps me understand your dog(s) and their routine better.

I have not been asking clients with only cats in the home to fill out the paperwork, not because cats are not as equally as important, but because there's a lot of information on the forms that simply pertains just to dogs.

I wanted to share the contents of the folder with you starting with a checklist for clients to run through before they leave their homes.

I'd just like to remind the Crivitz and surrounding communities that Romeo, the German Shepherd, is still missing. He's been missing since 10/19/2024. He is an adult, unaltered male. Please check your trail cams, under decks/porches & in crawl spaces, check outbuildings, barns, abandoned buildings, etc. Watch for any dogs eating road kill. Keep alert to human society / rescue listings matching his description or any dogs for sale on pet rehoming sites. Given the time Romeo has been gone, he could be absolutely anywhere. Don't limit the search to Wisconsin. For those of you with out of state connections, stay alert and keep sharing. There isn't much anyone can do without a sighting or lead. The cost to reserve a spot is just $100. This includes an exam, a high-quality surgery, detailed post-op care instructions, and easy-to-administer post-op pain medication.

WHOSE KITTENS/CATS ARE INVITED?
If you're wondering if HEA's program will spay or neuter your unfixed ___(fill in the blank cat)___, the answer is absolutely! All are welcome – indoor cats, barn cats, shop cats, friendly cats, less-than-friendly cats, rescue cats, etc. You get the idea, the target audience includes kittens and cats who are capable of reproducing more unexpected litters. Believe it or not, feline reproduction can begin as early as FOUR (4) MONTHS OLD.

Right now, only 13 of the 40 slots are booked for this Thursday 1/16. In a world where access to affordable care can be difficult to come by, please help us take full advantage of the capacity that HEA's spay/neuter program has created.
