We recently attended the 1st Eastern Africa Agroecological Conference at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi Kenya and these are some of our learnings from the conference:
1. Collaborations and co-learning are important in advancing the Agroecological movement in the Eastern Africa region.
2. Policy makers and academicians in Institutions of higher learning ought to be informed and share knowledge on regenerative farming
3. The stakeholders in the agricultural sector should come together to advance the efforts and effects of organic and regenerative farming

Adoption of regenerative technology and farming principles is increasing over time as farmers see improved yields. The crops are also more pest resistant as they use Integrated pest management systems.
There are still challenges along the process such as knowledge uptake among the farmers but consistency is what will work for this movement. The Shambajijini community is delighted to see these results and the outcomes of using practices such as composting, using plant teas as foliar, vermiculture and use of black soldier flies.
We strive to improve security and security among farmers and other people groups.

Meeting similar minded people at the 1st Eastern African Agroecology Conference EOA has been refreshing. The founders of InterACT Liesl Hatting and Sumeeta are passionate about creating a platform where various stakeholders such as policymakers, funders, farmers and governing people can InterACT. They believe that the shared experiences from individuals are powerful and impact when put together.
They have a survey where they are asking about the needs, challenges, success and pain points that influence Agroecology. Would you like to check it out?? Click here

Can we grow food WITHOUT the use of chemical fertilizers? Please share your thoughts with us.
Pic A is a chemical fertilizer while pic B is a sample of compost and a couple of earthworms.
Now, farmers have been complaining for a long time about how expensive chemical fertilizers are becoming. The question is, why not focus on nature-friendly and affordable fertilizers? If you add compost to your soil, natural “friends” of soil nutrition such as the earthworms will build the soil and make it rich with nutrients. Please comment about your experience or thoughts

Today’s webinar on “Scientific Report on Pesticides in the Kenyan Market”, the discussion was focused on toxic pesticides that ought to be withdrawn from the market. Kenyans deserve to eat healthy food which is free from pesticide residues.
One of the best ways to avoid exposure to disease-causing pesticide residues is by growing your own veggies. Do you have a kitchen garden?
You are welcome to register for this webinar that will start at 3PM EAT. Great conversations to happen!!
