It's grass seed season! 🌱
A very common but often unknown problem! Grass seeds get stuck in fur and skin as your dog runs through long grass. These grass seeds travel under the skin to great lengths if they go unnoticed!
💊They can cause an infection if they are not removed. Sometimes the patient requires sedation to remove the seed and the wound may need to be flushed/cleaned if it is badly infected. Antibiotics and pain relief may also be required to heal the wound left behind.
Like most issues, this is one that is definitely easier to deal with sooner rather than later, and prevention is the key 👩⚕️

✨ Just a quick PSA ✨
The SPCA and dog pounds are there to help the animals. It is very easy to make quick judgements about particular cases or organisations as a whole.
The truth is, unless you have consistently dealt with animal welfare cases, it is extremely hard to understand why certain decisions are made regarding the lives of animals.
People don’t always get it right, but the people working at these places are there for the right reasons!
We never know what a person has dealt with on any given day, it pays to be nice! You may just tip that iceberg that is their struggling mental health. ❤️

✨Pet food is the only safe food for your pet! Avoid illness, flatulence and runny 💩
👩⚕️ Pancreatitis is a common and potentially life threatening illness. It is inflammation of the pancreas, the organ responsible for making digestive enzymes. It cause vomiting, diarrhoea, dehydration, jaundice and severe abdominal pain.
🍔 Pancreatitis is more common in older pets, and can be brought on by feeding high fat foods.
🍦Other risks of feeding human food include: toxicity/poisoning, diabetes, choking, and organ damage.
If you’re unsure about a certain food, there are plenty of resources on google!

✨ It’s 3 year old me! People always ask, “did you always know you wanted to work with animals?” The answer is a big yes! Love our furry lil counterparts!
However, I didn’t know that vet nurses exist! So I studied engineering first year after high school, I didn’t feel like I was being true to myself.
So after some research, trial and error, I ended up with , where I studied via correspondence full time for two years. I was finally doing what I loved!!
Vet nurses get paid below living wage, just above minimum wage, on average. And our list of responsibilities at a clinic are crazy!
The choice to be self employed didn’t come easy, and it’s still not easy. But it’s better than being paid less than many other unskilled jobs! My mental health is worth more than $20/h.
I also felt that vet nurses in a clinic also don’t get the engagement with the pet owners like veterinarians do, but we’re so full of knowledge! So it is my mission through this new service, to bring wellness to all pets!

✨Natural remedies!✨
I am trialing the biopet range from Hippo Health.
Both of my dogs are allergic to grass and end up with itchy red skin! This is most commonly diagnosed as atopic dermatitis or environmental allergies. There is a remedy here called ‘grasses’ which will hopefully replace her expensive medication!
Conventional flea and tick treatment works really well, however I don’t like the smell of the treatment and I prefer to keep things as natural as possible (using conventional treatment where necessary) so I am very excited about this flea and tick treatment alternative!
The ‘relax’ one is for nervous dogs and of course one of my dogs is a nervous Nellie! So I will update on the effectiveness of this one!
The last one I am trying is one for joints. This one will be best suited for dogs with arthritis or dogs who are prone to developing arthritis.
