Hello Dog Owners,
I’m looking for dog owners in the Hull area who would be interested in changing their dog’s diet from kibble to raw and would be kind enough to participate in my dissertation research project. The first 20 dogs will get FREE RAW FOOD for TWO WEEKS.
My name is Rita Mathne Seres and I am studying Bsc Bioveterinary Science at Bishop Burton College. and for my final year project I would like to monitor the changes of urinary properties in dogs fed with dry dog food and fed with a raw diet.
Currently, there is an important but divisive debate about whether commercially produced or raw dog foods have more benefits or risks for the health of the dogs.
Because of the lack of evidence-based studies on the effect of dietary change from dry to raw dog food on urinary properties, this study will be conducted to fill this gap.
This research will investigate if any differences occur in the urinary properties as indicators of the internal health in dogs fed with their original (commercial) diet and then changed to the raw diet. Free complete raw food will be provided by the ProDog Raw, a local business, for the participating dogs for the duration of the study (two weeks). Urinary samples will be collected every morning for two weeks while the dogs are fed with dry dog food. After this time, the diet transition will occur over four days and the dogs’ urine will be also monitored for two weeks with the raw diet.
This study is supported by Dr Nick Thompson from the Holisticvet to make sure the project will not cause any harm or discomfort for the dogs and provide support for dog owners who will participate in the research.
