Today was a tragic one.
We said goodbye to Desert Leader aka Desi.
He sustained a kick in the field by someone else's horse that broke his leg above his knee. (I did include a picture).
21 years of age, 41 races and given me all he can in the 12 years of his retirement, my first horse.
Yes he was temperamental and I can say with a smile that his nickname was prick due to his awful stubborn and difficult attitude that he carried with him since before I got him, not to mention incredibly accident prone, managing to avoid being pts numerous times before this but we loved all of him and so did most people who properly knew him.
I know one thing, the owner of that horse will get what's coming to her, a known kicker, he did not deserve to go like that, he was in terrible pain.
He will be back with us in a box soon, I took all his tail for some memorial pieces to be made, I only wish I could of had one last gallop on him but have been too ill.
Everyone knew how much he liked to run, never took the race out of the racehorse, he can go run as much as he likes now without being in any pain 💔
