Well, last night was certainly interesting.

Not only did multiple responses attend x3 rabbits in harrow, but we also had a response call to Watford junction train station.

A sneaky fox had made it's way in and chosen to make itself at home in the toilets 😁 because why not what else could you ask for when going to the toilet than a foxey toilet assistant 🦊😂

Thankfully this beautiful foxey was simply stuck and lost so the response who attended contained Mr fox and moved him back outside away from the tracks which could have been fatal if he'd have found his way down to them.

A very big thank you to all of the staff at Watford junction ❤️ and a massive thank you to the response who attended 🦊😍

A fantastic short update for you all this evening.

Do you remember the fox that was brought in from Selco Enfield ? If not you can read about him in the link below 👇

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/19kEu3Lkq8/

Well, he has been given a clean bill of health and, as of today, had no further reason to remain within rescue ☺️🎉🥳🎉

We are very pleased to get this handsome man back to his stomping grounds. Unfortunately we didn't get a load of footage as our device died due to low battery however as you will see in what footage we did get this older gent took his time to come out of the transport carrier not like a lot of the younger foxes we see who are quick off the mark 🦊

A very big thank you to all of those who donated upon this beautiful boys arrival. At Moonstone, your donations make what we do possible - thank you 💖🦊

A reminder for all who are struggling to get wildlife seen by local veterinary practices that the RCVS - Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons put out an update recently to remind veterinary professionals of their responsibilities when wildlife is presented to practice.

All of the information you may need to share with a practice regarding their responsibilities can be found in the update below.

This information is very useful to you all please do check out the below link 🦊🐍🦡🦌🦇🦢🦜🦆🦉🪿🐦‍⬛🐦

Following on from the decision by our Standards Committee earlier in the year regarding the euthanasia of wildlife by lay people in wildlife rescue centres, we are asking the professions to refresh their knowledge of their responsibilities around what to do when wildlife is presented to a veterinary...

Meet Elvis, the 20 year old 😲 corn snake 🐍

This older gent has come in as his owners sadly were downsizing and were unable to take Elvis with them.

Fortunately for Elvis, he has been taken on by one of our admins who will now take care of him for the remainder of his life 🥰

He's a very, very handsome boy for sure and will be well looked after! We are very pleased with his new happily ever after 🐍🥰❤️

Good Evening all, we have some rather lovely budgies looking for their forever home

Leia & Hans came in a few months ago and have been in foster care since. Both did have a forever home lined up, but sadly, at the last moment, the new potential owners pulled out due to a change in circumstances. Both Leia and Hans love to be around people and enjoy eachothers company very much so cannot be split up.

Please do get in contact if you feel you may be able to offer a suitable home for them both :)

( All adoptions are subject to a full home check and adoption fee. Both Leia and Hans do come with a full set up )

Update : Unfortunately due to the extent of Roxeys injuries which have become more clear over the past hours the decision was made at 11.36pm to allow her to run free across the beautiful rainbow bridge. We are saddened by this however she will never be in pain again 💔🌈

A rather sad one currently being dealt with.

This little lady was called in by the Mayhew in London after a lovely member of the public scooped her up as she had been hit by a car.

Upon arrival at the Mayhew, this little one was immediately transferred to our vets at Watford as she was and had been bleeding from her private area, and it was unclear if there were any broken bones.

Currently, the response is waiting to see if this lady can be treated and what exactly is going on with her. Do keep Roxey here in your thoughts this afternoon as we await to hear her results.

A very big thank you to the member of the public who handed Roxey in to the Mayhew and a thank you to the Mayhew for calling us out.

With any casualty that comes in, there is always a cost. Please do consider making a donation towards the work that Moonstone Rescue does, with your help, we can continue to do the work we do hourly.
Thank you.

Well, today has certainly been a busy one for wildlife calls.

The below is just one of many that has come in today. Please meet and welcome this rather handsome boy who came in today after being found unwell in selco Enfield.

Upon further inspection, it has been found that this big man has a bite wound to his head, a mild infection and mild mange, all of which our vets and we hope to get on top of fairly quickly.

With mating season upon us, we expect to see more examples of unusual activity, foxes found in unusual places, foxes with injuries, and so on. Sadly, this is much part of the course however, with a little support and some help, we can often get them back out to where they belong.

Over the past two weeks, the team has received a few calls from people concerned about tangled foxes, foxes making noise, and foxes being more active in the evening and early morning.

A wise fox once said, " Let's Marvin Gaye and get it on 🦊😂🦊

We are now coming into breeding season where a daddy fox seeks out a mummy fox 🦊 in turn the level of romance out there is becoming higher than ever so you may notice things you haven't noticed before fox example ( twisted foxes ) ( loud calls ) ( screaming ) and so on. We can assure you these foxes are not twisted or tangled and mostly will not be making noises for any other reason than to find a mate.

You may also hear sounds that make you nervous or sound like someone screaming some have even described it as a fox being tortured. we can assure you this is all part of the foxes process of finding a mate.

As we always say, if in doubt do give us or one of the many other rescues a call, we are always happy to address any concerns or worries ☺️

A very, very, very big thank you to Neil and his team, who over Christmas raised Moonstone Rescue £150.

Each year Neil and his group do a joint run on boxing day for multiple rescues across the UK this year, we were one of them as well as others.

With the money raised by Neil and his team we will be putting this into the new extension to the Monkey enclosure. We are massively grateful for this donation as it allows us to move forward with the project we have currently running.

Once again, a massive thank you to Neil Featherby and his team of legendary amazing people ❤️

Poor Puss in Boots the ragdoll has sadly been returned due to a few unwanted behaviours 😔

We are, however, confident that his little problem can be solved very quickly and for him then to go on and be re-adopted 🥰

Fun fact - The breed name ‘Ragdoll’ was given because of the cat’s tendency to go limp when lifted, just like a rag doll. But as relaxed as these cats may be when being handled, it’s still important to handle them gently as you would with other breeds.
They are also one of the largest breeds of domestic cats. Other large breed cats include:
- The Maine C**n
- Norwegian Forest Cat
- Ragamuffin

Meet Notch, who is now looking for her forever home. Sadly, Notch came in heavily pregnant and lost all of her kittens due to her age.

Notch is believed to be around 10 months old, and at the time of coming in, she was around 6 months old. Sadly, after losing her kittens during birth, she became very depressed. However, she has now turned a corner and is looking for her forever home.

Could that be you ?

If you are looking to adopt in the new year, please do consider checking out the page below where you can find out how to adopt with us at Moonstone Rescue 🥰

Call to Pinewood close Borehamwood WD6

A call was received earlier today in relation to a fox that was said to potentially be injured or trapped.

A response was sent out and arrived within 4mins of the original call the fox was located thankfully this fox was neither injured or trapped but instead looking for a lady friend.

At this time of year we start to see foxes looking for partners in turn it can become slightly more loud than normal obviously if in doubt do always give us a call thankfully this big old man fox was in good shape

Good morning, all.

As many of you know, we don't just support British wildlife; we also support exotic wildlife. Sadly, some of these exotics do end up in rescue for various reasons.

This year we have a large fundraiser running. This fundraiser is specifically for the extension to a preexisting marmoset enclosure.

It is estimated that around 5,000 primates are kept throughout the UK in private ownership. There is no issue with this if we are saying they are all being kept correctly, which, factually, we know they are not. Due to this, as of next year, laws will start to come into effect, in turn meaning a license of sorts will be required to keep any primates that are kept, whereas it has been for many years that you do not require a license for marmosets, tamarins and squirrel monkeys.

With this new law coming into effect, we expect numbers we see called in to us at Moonstone to increase; in turn, we need to be in a position to be able to help as and when necessary.

The establishment of 5,000 privately owned primates we also feel is well underestimated simply based off of the fact this is based on people being honest, which sadly not everyone is; it is also based off questionnaires that were sent out last year in relation to the new laws. Again, this would be banking on everyone being honest, which sadly, as we have said, not everyone is.

We are currently running an enclosure fundraiser. These funds will be directed specifically at the cost of the extension. You can see a breakdown on what's needed for the complete build below 👇. This will, in turn, allow us to house both the existing troop as well as any newcomers and retain our quarantine area.

With your help and your help alone, we can do this. Please do consider making a donation to the below fundraiser; it will allow us to do more than we have ever done for these very special animals.

Thank you.
