Connie's Dog House This page is about dogs -- adoptions, day to day life, education about new things happening and networking.

I'm based in Arizona, and I post stories I find uplifting and interesting.

We thought things couldn’t get any more horrible at Maricopa County Animal Care and Control, but they did. MCACC added 21 adoptable dogs to be killed 5 days from now.

MCACC East is in the middle of a distemper outbreak. As of today, no one in the public can adopt one of these dogs; they are only available to rescues with a New Hope contract, which not every rescue has.

These dogs have been at the shelter for months, and in one day of lockdown, they decide to make a list of 21 dogs to kill on November 5th. They might not even have distemper, the clinic staff just couldn't draw blood for the distemper test. We have no faith that the testing was done in a compassionate and humane manner because no volunteers were allowed to help or observe.

This is not okay. We have to take a stand for these dogs. Volunteers have spent months caring for and building relationships with these dogs, only for county to kill them. Volunteers are allowed to pass out treats but not spend time with the dogs.

First they lock down a whole shelter and won’t even let volunteers come in. They won’t let people even blind adopt- which is a common practice when a shelter is in lockdown.

There are dozens of healthy, adoptable dogs that can easily be adopted or rescued, but MCACC would rather keep them quarantined and then kill them instead of giving them a chance to go to a home.

They have taken all East dogs off the adoptable sites so volunteers and the public have no idea what is going on with the dogs.

Only when they are due to be euthanized in a couple days will volunteers and the public know the status of each dog. We aren't even certain about this because they will likely euthanize any dog who tests positive or appears sick.

We often ask you to email management, but this is the time we really need to speak up and let them know this is not okay.

This is cruel, sickening, neglectful, and inhumane. These dogs deserve BETTER. 💔💔💔

📢 ALERT!!!!!....📢 ALERT!!!

This is Lily.

She was at the west side Walmart in Flagstaff last night. She jumped out of the back of owners truck and ran into Walmart. The owner saw this and ran in to get her, and was told someone else ran in, said it was their dog and left with it.

If you see this dog anywhere, please contact us.

Can you imagine the pain from having a prong collar embedded in your neck, then someone putting you on a catch pole. The agony poor Judge must have felt. He will be spending a few days in the hospital and we could use your help. A special thanks to Bobbie Jo Becker from Tails of Freedom k9 rescue for dropping everything for boy and coming to the rescue. Of it weren't for you Judge would have dies in that awful place

Ready to change a life this holiday season? ❤ At Underdog Rescue of Arizona, we rely on our community's donations to save homeless pets in need. Whether that's life-saving surgery or fostering until they find their furever home, we've been creating happy tails for our pups since 2013.

Help us help them today with a one-time or monthly donation. It means the world to our dogs, with all donations going towards their care. We are an entirely volunteer-run 501(c)3 organization so your donations are tax-deductible.

Donate today (or share with others--every little bit helps!) at https://www.underdogaz.com/donate/. THANK YOU!

Elmer is now adoptable at Freedom Brothers Recovery and Rescue in Phoenix Az. This is from their post:

Oh.. elmer elmer... what can I say? Been looking for his furever home far too long. I dont understand? So sweet and goofy. Hes a 1-2 yo black mouth cur mix. Loves to play with his toys. Co exists with 3 other dogs in his foster home but can be a little rowdy at times so a dog intro is a must. He will keep you entertained with his antics. 🤣
He is utd on his shots, neutered and microchipped. He is being fostered by a dog trainer so hes learned his manners!
Please contact FREEDOM BROS if you would like to meet this handsome guy! ❤

🐶😩 My name is Courage & I am really trying to live up to the name but I am getting really down here. I have had several people come meet me but they all leave without me 💔 I am a very relaxed & gentle dog who just wants a place to rest my head. I would like to be the only dog & have your fullest love & affection. I am dreaming & wishing so hard! 🙏💖 Courage

Hi, Obi needs a new home in the Albuquerque NM area. Please contact Ed Goodman of Tootsie's Vision. Thanks!

This is from Ed's post:

LAS CRUCES, NM

OBI !!!!!!

Obi is a very sweet shih tzu Tootsie's Vision rescued from a home in Las Cruces, NM after the owner developed dementia. . Good rescue friend Ashley Smith has been fostering Obi for us and reports that he is just the IDEAL dog. Obi has been vetted and his diseased eye removed. He is blind, but gets around with great confidence and skill.

Obi is neutered, housetrained, gets along great with other dogs and with cats, loves people, loves cuddling and affection, enjoys following his people around, and is just a total sweetheart!!!

It is time now for Obi to go to his forever home! We can easily transport this chap to the Albuquerque, NM area.

PLEASE CONSIDER GIVING OBI A FOREVER HOME!!!!!

SHARE SO WE CAN REACH AS MANY FOLKS AS POSSIBLE!
