Today was an absolute beautiful day to take zero for a nice long walk at the park. We don't always get so much Sunshine during the winter, so I made sure to take it full advantage of it!

For those gloomy and rainy winter days, even if you can't get your dog out on their walk, they can greatly benefit from playtime, puppy push-ups or obedience training, or just a good extended play session. A tired dog is a well-behaved dog, haha.

Ooooh my goodness... They don't get much cuter than this! Pearl here is showing off her nest sit skills. She has been rocking her dog obedience training, and was even pretty dang good at loose leash walking!
She is still a young pup, but is well on her way to being a well-rounded, well-trained dog... And she's also cute as a button! Keep up the awesome work Pearl!

I think the only thing that Zero likes more than going on a walk, is going on a walk with a friend! Zero and copper had a great opportunity to walk around lacamas lake yesterday, they both had a really great time (although zero got plenty muddy... He got a bath once we got home, hahaha)

When I show up to a client's home and see something like this at the front door, I know I'm at a place that really cares about their dog.

There are so many dogs waiting in shelters for loving homes, no matter what age or breed you are looking for, there's a good chance you could find your dream dog.

If you are looking for a specific breed, there are also a lot of specific breed rescue organizations, so a quick search online may reveal some near you!

And once they are ready for some dog obedience training, I of course offer dog obedience, puppy, and reactivity dog training too, in person and online!

One of my previous clients with their awesome pup. Catching those last rays of sunshine as winter sets in, Willow is just totally rocking her leash skills. Which is a good thing, because she is a full size Newfoundland dog! 😅

Whats up everyone, it's sure been getting chilly out, but that hasn't stopped this awesome dog named Dune from getting out and practicing his reactivity training.
Whether the weather is sunny and warm, or chilly and drizzly, even a few minutes of practice outside with your dog (if they don't hate the weather) goes towards the ultimate goal of a non-reactive dog.

Onyx is such a cool dog!

He absolutely loves going on his long daily walks with his owner, and is working on greeting other dogs in a nice way. Reactivity training is never quite fully finished, but I know his owner is have the right skill set to keep him moving in the right direction, and continuing to get better and better with his skills!

Well well well... The cat in the hat has nothing on this cute pup! This is Gadget! Gadget was working on reactivity, and is quite feisty, but has already made really great progress! I know that their owners are gonna keep rocking that training too, their skills are on point, for sure!

Reactivity training is definitely a process, one of those journeys as opposed to a destination. It's all about getting that reaction threshold zone to shrink over time through desensitization, counter conditioning, and cue'd behaviors... (and really high value rewards help, hahaha) and I know Gadget is gonna rock it!

If there is one thing that I love to see it's when our dogs check in with us when they are interested in something.

I can only imagine what Zeros hearding breed instincts scream to him when he stares at the ducks, I know he wants to corral them. 😂 But I love that he looks to me to see if he's allowed to (short answer, no, Zero, you are not allowed to chase these ducks)

When we are out and about with our dogs, we are competing against the world full of distractions. Keeping your own reward value high will definitely give you an edge when it comes to keeping your dogs behavior tip top when in public!

The air has a bit of a chill in it, the rain has started to return, and the leaves are changing. It's official, fall is right around the corner! The season brings holidays, visits from friends and family, and lots of cozy days in.

As guests visit, and our dogs have less out time outside... Is there a behavior ready for this?

Everyone say hi to Murphy! She is working on reactivity, and leaving the squirrels alone. As we all know, those squirrels love to tease our dogs, but she's been doing amazingly at it! When I first met her, I basically couldn't touch her without her getting super excited, or potentially nipping at me. At our most recent session, she was giving me her belly to scratch. This system works! Hahaha

I received these dog toys as a gift from one of the people who work at my local Black Rock coffee. They love Zero, and no he was named from this movie (The nightmare before Christmas).. Zero already looks like he wants to tear them apart, so I might keep them pristine for a while first. 😂
