Summer is quickly approaching! Do you or someone you know need volunteer hours or interested in helping?? We always have a ton of projects happening around the farm as well as regular maintenance. We have volunteer opportunities from picking up rocks and sticks to building run-ins, paddocks, an arena, and everything in between. The horses can be brushed, bathed, or worked with for those with the experience and comfort level needed. There’s something for everyone and we would be so grateful for any help - no matter how big or small. Please message us if you’re interested! Please share!

This!!! 💯 Take care of the animals who have given so much of themselves to you. I am honored to have the opportunity to care for our rescues who were discarded after no longer being to serve how they once had.

Some love horseback riding, and some love horses. Some love both. However, if you had to choose between caring for the horse that can't be ridden any longer, or selling the horse for a younger model so you can ride, which would you choose?
Which do you think your horse hopes you choose?
Which do you think is more ethical?
A lot of people sell horses that they 'outgrow' etc and maybe the next owner is kind, and maybe even the owner after that. The PROBLEM is that the horse loses it's own continuity with equine friends, a sense of connection to land and home; it's family. ALSO the more this flipping happens, the less any one owner feels beholden to the idea of senior care. And senior care is needed by EVERY LIVING BEING. Normalizing the act of 'getting rid of' an animal because it no longer serves tells the next generation that it's ok, and the cycle continues. This is how old horses end up at auction, alone and undefended, equines that were once well trained and trusted to carry children, or accomplished athletes, or hard working partners in the field or on the road. No one stood by them in their hour of need.
It just seems that our species is capable of better treatment to another living being that 'we' have created and used. Every horse deserves a decent end to a life they did not choose, but may have tried their best at anyway, for as long as possible.
We step in for a few as we are able, but handing them over to a rescue ought not to be normalized either. There is not federal, state or local revenue supporting these efforts, each is headed by a slightly crazy horse person who saw a need and stepped up.
Our opinions are not secret, we live them every day. Sadly if more agreed with us, we would not need to be here.
Wouldn't it be great to normalize connection, value beyond just a skill, loyalty, and the beauty of caring for one who relies upon you? Because there is great beauty, and meaning, in standing beside another living being, one that you chose to bring into your life, and protect them for the rest of theirs.

Going into the New Year in style thanks to Tread Deep Counseling PLLC! A few weeks ago I had posted an “iso” post on Facebook for a gently used, very large draft blanket. Lily had a blanket but it wasn’t for a draft and was a tad too small as well. When Victoria saw the post, she reached out to me and asked if she could buy Lily a new blanket. 😭 What a Godsend! I cried with relief and thanksgiving.

We are so grateful for all of the support we have received. All of the encouragement, “likes”, donations, and volunteer time has kept us going. We are excited for 2024 and we wish you all a very happy New Year! May 2024 bring you joy, peace, and love. ♥️

State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo said, "Today, as we celebrate National Horse Day, it's an opportunity to reflect on the significant economic, historic, and cultural impact that horses have had on our society. In honor of this special day, I am thankful that Governor Hochul will be signing my two bills aimed at safeguarding these magnificent animals from cruelty. The first bill, S.1677A, enhances the penalties with appropriate fines for the sale of disabled horses at auctions and extends these protections to mules and donkeys. The second bill, S.2163B, prohibits the slaughter of horses for both human and animal consumption. These animals, acknowledged for their contributions towards labor, agriculture, recreation, transportation, and various other purposes, deserve to be treated with the utmost care, and I join Governor Hochul in addressing the need for equine protections and the importance of this cause, which includes the end of horse slaughter and the prevention of animal cruelty."

Here are some photos of the special ponies that we’ve been privileged to know over the years. I’m so grateful for these precious souls and especially for the ones we get to call ours. ♥️

Spent some quality time hand grazing and grooming my handsome man earlier today which of course called for a mini photo shoot. He’s already fluffing out a bit since it has started getting cooler. I still have to pinch myself, I can’t believe this gorgeous creature belongs to me!! 😍

Another cool thing that horses can do - they find things to get hurt on but you can’t always find what it was that they got hurt on. 🫠 As our farrier once said, horses will find a way to get hurt in a rubber pen.

Yesterday afternoon as we were working on a playground for our kiddos, I saw CC p**p. She’s has had some digestive issues for awhile now so I went to look at said p**p. P**p tells a story if you didn’t know… Anywho, on the way to the “scene” I immediately saw a big ol’ gash in her head super close to her eye. Thanks again to Rocky Creek Veterinary who always come quick, our vet was here in less than 30 minutes. It was dejavu from last Saturday because he had to do allll the same things to fix her up - sedation, pain meds, antibiotics, and stitches.

The horses had a secret meeting Friday night and determined who had the least amount of vet bills so far - Cheyenne won! You see, they knew we were hosting a birthday party Saturday and that’s when horses amp up the shenanigans - weekends and special events! I don’t know how they know but they do, trust me! Don’t worry, the vet came yesterday afternoon shortly after the discovery and she only needed two sedation shots, stitches, a tetanus shot, an antibiotic shot, and a shot of pain meds. Shout out to Rocky Creek Vet Services - they’re absolutely amazing and one of them is always here quickly any time we have an issue. She is stitched up beautifully and I’m sure the herd had a good chuckle knowing they made mom even more stressed out than I already was. I wonder which one of the horses plan to pay the vet bill though!? 😅 My sweet MIL was here and generously gave us $100 towards it which was so sweet and very much appreciated but I know that will only cover a portion of it.

In all seriousness though, it’s times like yesterday when unexpected expenses pop up and we cringe a little bit. We will ALWAYS do whatever is needed to make sure these precious souls are taken care of but if you ever feel led to donate, we are an IRS approved 501(c)(3) and all donations are tax deductible. Since we have personally funded the vast majority of the bills to not only save them but then to sustain them, we aren’t in a place financially to accept any more rescues even though we’ve been approached. It’s a hard pill to swallow because I had a different vision but we will trust God’s plan for our “business” and pray to have the ability to save more at some point. It’s easy to get donations when you post a super sad, pull-at-the-heartstrings story of a horse in absolute terrible condition but as most horse owners know, buying (or saving) is the least expensive part of owning a horse. It isn’t as well received when we need funds to continue caring for the ones we have unfortunately. It doesn’t help that we aren’t a rescue/rehabilitate/adopt type of business currently (maybe someday) so we keep the ones we save so they can life out their days being loved and cared for by us. ❤️

19 hands of pure love 💜 Lily was a killpen rescue we brought home on Good Friday 2022. We almost saved another one from her group, his name was King at the lot and I often wonder about him. Two rescues shortly after the first two would’ve been tough so I know I made the right decision but I can just picture him with her making the most stunning pair. Draft horses are my absolute favorites. Being so large but having the most gentle, calm nature they are just absolutely amazing animals. I’m blessed to finally have the opportunity to spend my life with horses and hope to save more in the future.

Sunday turned one yesterday! ☀️ There will never be a more incredible Easter than last year when I discovered this little foal we weren’t expecting. What an adventure the last year has been! It’s hard to tell how big she has gotten but she is huge and I cannot wait to see her continue to grow and learn.

We are looking for a used John Deere Gator or Kawasaki Mule. Age doesn’t really matter, just needs to be ready to roll. Budget is 4k which I realize is low for these things but we have horses so we have a low budget for life. 😅 I‘m looking on Marketplace but wanted to put feelers out as well. Keep us in mind if you or someone you know has what we need! Thanks!!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Resurrection Day yesterday! ✝️☀️🌷
