Legacy, the husky mix, was the Dad's first chosen dog. Hitomi, the golden retriever, is extra special because the mom was her puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind. (until she 'career changed' to a family pet)

I saw a post where someone wanted to wear a black-and-white dress for photos in the snow. Personally, I think a pop of red is much better for winter photos! It adds warmth and stands out in the snow. (I'm sharing a few examples to show what I mean)

Today's snowstorm is a bit too slushy, but it’s the perfect time to shop online for a bright, cozy sweater for a future photoshoot.

Throwback Thursday: If your cat hides under the bed during their photoshoot, it's OK. That's what Kevin the kitten did! I got his attention with a felt ball and photographed his cute little paw. Now that I'm looking at it closer, he needs his nails trimmed. 😂

See anything missing in this photo? It's Mr. Butter's tail. I wasn’t planning to mention it yet, but you can see it in this shot, so I guess today’s the day.

Mr. B ended up at the rescue because his family couldn't afford his vet care. We don’t know much about his past, just that when he arrived at the rescue, he needed his tail amputated, major dental work, and neutering. He recuperated from all that at a foster's house. Lucky for me, his foster saw something special in him and invited us to meet him. Dan and I adopted him the next day.

Mr. Butter has cleaned up well now that he's healed. His coat is so much healthier! He used to be allowed outdoors, but we're keeping him indoors. We’re not sure exactly what happened to his tail, but I suspect it might have been from his adventures outside. Dan’s got big plans to build him a catio, and we’re working on harness training so he can safely explore the backyard. For now, though, he seems perfectly happy just watching the world from inside.

Are golden retrievers lap dogs? Only when they’re 9 weeks old! Little Gemma was the snuggliest during her photoshoot. (Well, when she wasn't running around the yard like a crazy nut. 😉)

I know posing for a photo can feel a bit daunting, but it’s the best way to remember just how tiny your puppy once was. I’ll make sure you look just as adorable as your pup!

I’ve taken thousands of photos of puppies running over the past 12 years, so you think I’d have learned to get out of the way before they run into me. I was lying on my belly, and Gemma ran into my camera. I got a black eye, but it was worth it because I got the shot! But I’ll remember to duck away next time.

Nala, once a show dog, has settled into life as a laid-back house pup, but you can still see her graceful presence as she strolls along the trail. The grasses are beginning to turn that golden fall color, but if you look closely, you'll spot some wildflowers holding on. Lately, I've been seeing a lot of purple Liatris (Blazing Star) with their deep roots—perfect for surviving a dry year like this.
