Someone passed this onto us and we thought it was a great idea to share.
With the 4th of July right around the corner we tend to get several calls about dogs getting out, and owners frantically trying to find them. We ask that you make sure your dogs have their collars on, updated contact information on their licenses, or do something similar to the picture below !
We can not scan for microchips. We do not have a scanner, and if the vets offices are closed, we will have to transport any found dogs that are unclaimed to Lake County Dog Shelter.
We love our community fur babies and want to make sure they are safe! 🐾💕

Good evening, everyone!! I would like to announce that we will be back up and running and taking appointments for dog sitting starting the beginning of February! We have missed all of you and your fur babies! Feel free to reach out and get all your sitting needs from us! We offer other sitting needs for many animals, not just your typical dog and cat! We are excited to get back to it!

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of one of our own. Yesterday the family and I had to make the tough decision to let go of our Izzy girl. Her body was failing her and has been for some time. She was an emotional support for all of us including so many other family and friends. Even though we’ve only had her since she was three, we’ve known her her whole life. She was the young age of fourteen when she passed! Yesterday we spent the day feeding her chicken nuggets, a pup cup from Starbucks, and a piece of chocolate! Eleven years was not long enough but we are ever so grateful for those years! She will be missed!

PRO TIP: If your dog is a super chewer?! Do they even chew through the toys that aren’t supposed to be chewed through?? We have tried everything from every name brand tough chew toy to the most expensive and our boy eats through everything! He has a very SOFT mouth which is typical of his breed! Porties also put EVERYTHING in their mouths. We decided instead of spending $14-$20 a toy for the softer chew toys that are “indestructible”, we’d go to the thrift stores and pick out a few stuffed animals at a few bucks a pop and let him at them. Obviously with close observation because he only recently started to spit out what he bites off when chewing something. He gets to have tons of fun and destroy toys without making his mom cry because it lasts two seconds as opposed to what it’s meant to last for!! We washed these and dried at the highest heat for 20 mins to kill anything germ wise that could be on these!

National Pets Day!! (Posted a day late) We hope everyone had a great Easter weekend to those of you who celebrate. Those of you who do not celebrate Easter we hope you still had a good weekend! Yesterday was National Pets Day, first up is our Owner and Founder’s pup, Simon! He is a one year and three months old! This pure bred Portuguese Water Dog is a beautiful breed and we love him here! Next up is IzzyBella McLovin’!! She is a fourteen year and two month old pure bread Blue Nose Pitbull! She’s an old lady who still plays like a puppy and she’s a good snuggle bug!! 🐶

We understand that recent events have been incredibly difficult for our community, and we want to remind you that Potter Park Zoo is here for you during this time. To provide an opportunity to find peace and solace, we are offering free admission to the zoo for all Michigan State University students and staff starting today through the weekend.

We invite you to take a stroll through our park, visit the animals, and take advantage of the quiet areas that we offer. We hope that our zoo can provide a small moment of happiness and a chance to take a break from the stress of recent events.

To gain free admission, simply show your MSU ID at admissions. We truly believe that in times like these, we must come together as a community, and we hope that we can be a small part of helping you heal and find comfort.

We got Simon at 6 months old! Here’s from gotcha day to Christmas! We traveled a lot, we went up north to the Yoop, we went to softball games and met lots of moms friends, we went swimming for the first time and our first trip to the dog park all in one day! Took our first family photo, celebrated Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas! We had lots of fun meeting our uncles and gunckle, and great grandma. We met both grandmas this year! We were there for tough times to give lots of snuggles and kisses when we lost one of our grandmas. We even met our big brothers at our other grandmas house! It’s been a long road for Simon, lots of changes and we are so glad he’s finally feeling settled! Happy first birthday Simon! 🧡

Please join us in welcoming yet ANOTHER addition to the family!! Lilly and Sadie!!
