Next week snow and ice are expected, and the city has talked about possible shutdowns.

Tips for having outdoors in cold/freezing weather:
* if your pet has sweater/jacket or boots, they should be worn
* Clip your 's toe hair to prevent ice from building up
* Trim your dog's nails for better traction
* clean your dog's paws after each walk
* non-toxic moisturizer like coconut oil to treat rough paws
* Watch for signs that your is too cold, like shivering, whining, or licking their paws
* if you pet appears hypothermic, get inside, warm them up gradually, and call your vet.

Be patient: Don't set unrealistic expectations and go at your dog's pace.

Get your supplies before this evening! With the expected 3-5 inches of , and now 50-65mph winds expected today and through Monday, we wanted to give everyone some safety tips to be proactive:
* stock up on food and water
* take your pet(s) for a walk before the storm
* if you have pets with anxiety, give them meds 30min before the storm
* Create a safe space for them and remain calm
* turning on music or noise to drown out the storm also helps.

If the power goes out, Remember IT IS TEXAS and It gets HOT
WATCH FOR STROKE ( it can be FATAL) in your pet. Some symptoms include drooling, increased heart rate, excessive panting, weakness, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, collapse, seizures, or even coma and a temperature of over 104°.
