ORIGINS
The Majestic Tree Hound (or Majestic, as it is known) is a relatively new breed designation for an old hunting dog. The Majestic Tree Hound shares some ancestry with modern-day Coonhounds. In fact, part of their lineage includes English Coonhound. However, bred for their exceptional scenting ability and voice, they also have some Bloodhound ancestry as well. They are often mistakenly thought to be a cross-breed and many will cross Coonhounds with Bloodhound to create the Majestic Tree Hounds.

Temperament: The Majestic Tree Hound is confident, steady, and even-tempered, yet eager for the trail. Primarily raised and hunted in a pack, these dogs are known to be very sociable with other dogs. Their trailing instincts and drives are exceptionally high, and if not allowed to exercise their senses and drive, they can get into trouble. They are independent thinkers, being doggedly persistent to the point of stubbornness when on a trail and in other tasks. They are known to be somewhat reserved or indifferent toward strangers but affectionate and loyal toward family. Any unprovoked aggressive or fearful behavior toward people is incorrect for this breed.

The Majestic Tree Hound is a relatively modern variety of crossbred dog, belonging to the coonhound/bloodhound group. It is a large breed, with males averaging over 100 pounds. They have long low-set earage, heavy flew, and dewlap similar to their ancestors from the Ardennes.
