It is absolute devastation for Masiphumelele after a raging fire fueled by wind ripped through the community through the night. Many thousands are left homeless and hundreds if not thousands of animals have been displaced or injured. Sadly, many animals perished in the fire as well.
TEARS Animal Rescue is calling for urgent assistance to aid us in helping these animals. Our team was on scene last night during the fire and has been in Masi this morning for several hours searching for injured animals that are hiding and gathering dogs and cats that have been displaced by the fire.
We are in need of pet food, blankets and supplies for the community and donations to assist the TEARS Welfare Clinic with veterinary supplies for treating burns and smoke inhalation.

TEARS Animal Rescue is safe from the fire. The fire has been under control since last night. The wind continues to rage so there is still a risk of flare ups. We will post updates.
