Karen’s Catita aka Chai is a 2018 ottb by English Channel. Like many of English Channel’s offspring, Chai has a super temperament and workmanlike attitude that makes her a joy to be around and to work with. She isn’t spooky and has offered up absolutely no naughty behaviors. She’s the type I don’t mind teaching a lead line lesson on. At a stout 15.1 hands high, she is the perfect size for most to enjoy. Though she is fun sized, Chai is a lovely big mover that floats across the ground. She has been started slowly and correctly on the flat since coming off of the track in December, and shows a great potential for being a dressage queen. She is a go with the flow lady that doesn’t mind if the rider makes a mistake or two. She is jumping small courses with no hesitation, and looks like she would make a very cute hunter/jumper/eventer. She hacks out quietly, and has cross country schooled. Ditches, banks, and small fences are no problem for her. This horse is fun fun FUN!

Not only is she fun, she’s also easy on the ground. Good to groom, tack, load, and is perfect for the vet and farrier. She is an easy keeper that can be stalled or kept out, and loves her buddies. For the month of February I am offering Chai for sale for a steal as she is just coming back into work after having most of the winter off.

That being said, there’s gotta be someone out there that wants a lovely forward thinking mare under 16h! I mean this mare is as uncomplicated as they come. Easy, safe, and willing! She’s jumped small courses and has schooled XC without a problem. She hacks out quietly and trailers nicely.

She’s the type I don’t mind teaching a lead line lesson on. At a stout 15 and a half hands high, she is the perfect size for most to enjoy. Though she is fun sized, Chai is a lovely big mover that floats across the ground. She has been started slowly and correctly on the flat since coming off of the track in December, and shows a great potential for being a dressage queen. Eventing can be a challenging discipline because it requires the horse and rider to become diligent at not 1, but 3 phases. What’s even more challenging, is that each phase seems to develop on it’s own timeline, with sometimes a phase going from your best to your worst, and so on. There’s always something to work on, to develop, and to train. It never gets boring, there are too many roles to fill. Often, the hardest part is just getting started.

Listen along as I walk you through our dressage test this past weekend at the Maryland Horse Trials at Loch Moy Farms. Our final score of 27.8 left us in 3rd place, which is where we would end after going double clear in both cross country and show jumping.
