Hello, Friends!
Willow, here.
Happy Mother’s Day to women all over the world: mothers of babies with fur and mothers of babies without fur, grandmas, aunties, all
of you wonderful ladies out there!
🌹💐🌸🌼🌺🌻🌷
Today is a special Mother’s Day for me because I am getting another mommy! That’s right, you head me-today is Adoption Day! Today, I am going to my fur-ever home! For my first five weeks, I had a fur-mommy. Then for the next 8 weeks I had a hooman foster mommy. Now I am getting a fur-ever hooman mommy and daddy! I am so excited to meet them! My family is growing!
(Oh, new Mommy, see this thing behind me, I really like playing with it. Could you get me one??? )

Hi, Friends,
How are you in this rainy evening? I really enjoy sitting on the window sill and listening to the rain. Do you?
You know what else I enjoy...this thing that is called “a door.” Mom says that is for opening and closing, but I don’t agree. I think it is for CLIMBING! I haven’t reached the top yet but I try every day!!!

Hi, Friends!
Willow, here
The tiny fluffs are finally starting to walk around and it is my job as Big Sister to teach them to play.

Hi, Friends!
Willow here!
How are you today?
Last night, I found this thing. It is kind of flat and light. When I throw it up in the air, it goes away and falls to the ground. Then I try to find it! It was so much fun that I played over and over again. My mom told me that it was called “a piece of paper!” I loved it so much that I carried it around from room to room. Such fun!!!
I brought it into the living room to let it sleep for the night. I came back in the morning to look for it. I knew it was here somewhere. I looked and looked...
But wait, I need to give myself a bath!!
(Do you see the “piece of paper”? )
What do you enjoy playing with??

Hi, Everybody!
Willow, here!
Mom is still taking care of those little fluffs so I decided to post again. While Mom was feeding them, I decided to explore her work bag. There is always fun stuff in there! This morning I found this long curly thing! It is super fun to play with; not too loud and I can drag it around. It’s big enough that if I jump too far, I can feel it on my legs and find it again.
What type of fun things are in your bag? What do you like to play with??
Here, let me show you my new toy:

Hi, Friends!
It’s me, Willow!!
Mom hasn’t posted in a few days because she has been very busy with some tiny fluff balls who are very noisy! (Neonate kittens). Since she is busy, I figured that I’d take over. I’m growing, you know!
I don’t mind her being busy because it gave me some time to explore. The first thing I did was escape the living room. I learned how to run all over the house. And when I say run, I mean run! Sure, on occasion I may bump into things, but It doesn’t stop me. The two bestest things that I discovered are cat bowls filled with food and the place my mom sleeps. Boy, I like that place a lot!!! Nice and cozy!
What is your favorite place to sleep?

Look! Someone is giving me a bath! I am being groomed! When cats groom each other it is an expression of comfort, companionship and love. Some cats are “groomers” meaning they love to groom more than others. Other cats are “groomees” meaning that they love to be groomed. Willow is definitely a “groomer”. She especially loves to groom our chin, cheeks and neck. We are truly showered with love!!!

Willow is getting very good at climbing up the furniture. She can climb up as high as the furniture can go! The problem is that she can’t get down. She cries and cries! It is so sad!! 😿
Soooo we decided to try and teach Willow to jump down. It is very scary for her because she can’t see where the ground is. We decided to start with an ottoman because it is the closest to the ground. We helped her over and over again until we felt that she had a sense of where she was in relation to the ground. Then, it was time for her to jump solo! Here is Willow’s SOLO JUMP!!

Hi, Friends!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! During the past few days, Willow has been learning to run!
Is it true? Yes!! Willow is running!
We read that if everything is kept in the same spot, blind cats and kittens can become confident enough to run. Willow finds objects by scent and sound, so we found that the best way for her to build up enough confidence to run around is to follow our feet. It is hysterical!!!
The video is a little awkward because we had to video and run at the same time. Lol!! So much fun!
Let us know what you think of little Willow learning to run.
Please feel free to share the post. Share the love! ❤️💖❤️💖
I hope you enjoy!!

Willow playing with her favorite toy. Complete with bunny kicks and everything!!

02/04/2021

Willow is starting to play with toys! She still loves playing with her hooman’s fingers and hair, but she is playing with kitten toys now! Since Willow can’t see, she finds the toys by smell and sound. Anything with a loud sound startles her and she runs away. So, to introduce Willow to a toy we play with it together for a bit and then put it in pop-up overnight so she gets used to the toy’s scent.
To help her find the toys, we pound them softly on the carpet. Willows sensitive ears are finely attuned to vibration and sound. She hones in on the toy and pounces!
Here are two videos of her playing with her favorite toy. The first video shows Willow honing in on and pouncing on her toy. Turn to the next post for the second-raucous play-complete with bunny kicks and everything!!

One morning, we awoke early to the sound of little mews. What was going on? It was definitely Willow alright. And she was working on her escape from the pop-up. She put her nose by the zipper of the opening and was wiggling her head back and forth, back and forth, back and forth until she opened the zipper wide enough to wriggle through!
TA-DA!!!
Out walked Willow as proud as can be. She proceeded to climb up the couch and sat down with great satisfaction!!
And then promptly fell asleep. You can see the spot on her nose where she rubbed against the zipper.

Now that Willow had been with us for a week, she felt very comfortable in her play yard. She wanted more out of life and decided it was time to explore. She already knew how to climb up on the couch. Hmmmm, what would she do next?
Willow decided to escape from her pop up! We would wake up in the morning or come home to find Willow languidly laying on the couch. How did she get there? We couldn’t figure it out!
(Scroll to the next post to discover how this clever girl escaped)

The next day, Willow began to climb up the furniture. She loves her hoomans and wants to be with them wherever they are. Willow is adventuresome and determined. She never gives up!

Willow began to climb!
The adventure was about to begin!

31/03/2021

Day by day, Willow became used to her pop up enclosure and play yard. We made sure that everything stayed in the exact same place so that Willow could confidently navigate her environment. She learned our voices and would come when we would call her. She learned so quickly!!

After 3 days, Willow was eating from a bowl! And washing herself, too!

Willow’s first play session!
Willow was very wobbly and unsteady on her feet. She needed exercise and practice walking around. Since she couldn’t see, all noises startled her. We constantly talked to her so that she could learn our voices. We used her name a lot so she could learn it.

Since Willow was not eating solid food yet, we mixed kitten formula together with wet kitten food to make a thin gruel. We hand fed her on a spoon. She would only eat 1-2 teaspoons at a time. Then she was full!! What a little tummy!

When Willow first came to us, she was very little. She was estimated to be 5 weeks old. An average 5 week old kitten weighs about 19 ounces. She weighed 16 ounces. She also was not eating solid food or independently eliminating. But she seemed very healthy. Her momma had taken very good care of her.
Willow was very sweet and affectionate. We fell in love with her right away!!

Around March 15th, Willow and her feral mom were trapped in a colony in Queens NY. Willow was about 5 weeks old and missing both of her eyes. She probably suffered from an eye infection that ruptured both eyes, leaving her blind. But she doesn't seem to know it. She's a quick learner. In just a few days with her foster family, she's learned how to use the litterbox, play with toys and climb.
You can follow her journey here...
