Horse Updates
Modern technology has made it easy for trainers to communicate with owners regarding the progress of their horses. Owners now get to see vision of their horses and hear directly from the trainer through regular updates like this (weekly when the horse is in work) which has really improved the ownership experience.

It is great to see so many familiar faces jumping on board to race these horses with Rob! Our spectacular Shalaa c**t from the family of Winx has done nothing but impress the team at Romsey since arriving from the recent Ready to Run Sales. Rob has described him as the ultimate professional and still can’t believe he picked him up for a relatively modest price tag. Unfortunately, we are not permitted to publicly display costs, but we can tell you that having a small interest in these six horses won’t break the bank. By joining a group, you not only share the fun, but share the financial commitment. You could fund the weekly expenses of an entry level interest in all six horses by giving up a six pack of beer or half a packet of ci******es each week. Why six horses?
It’s all about the entertainment! Having an interest in six horses not only gives you more chances to get to the races, but increases the volume and frequency of communication from Rob and gives you something to look forward to all year round. With modern technology it doesn’t matter if you own a few hairs or the whole horse – you still get the enjoyment of receiving regular video and audio updates on their progress. Owning a larger share in one horse suits those looking for a return on their investment, but they have to be patient when their horse is having a spell or recovering from issues. This “bundle” is all about experiencing the fun of being an owner and sharing the ride with your mates. And having six horses increases your chances of cracking a champion!

Horse #6: Toronado x Lickety Lemon (leased)
Vitesse Royale is a 3yo filly by Victorian sire Toronado, who’s progeny consistently perform at top metro level highlighted by the million dollar VOBIS showdown winner, Prince Of Sussex. From a family littered with black type our filly has a pedigree page full of stakes winners with staying prowess which gives us scope to extend her out to a mile while still being effective at sprinting trips. This filly is an athletic type who’s very light on her feet and should be getting to the races in her first preparation.
Horse #5: Dissident x Rock on Madonna (leased)
Our second leased filly is by consistent sire Dissident who has produced the likes of stakes winner Pancho and group 1 placegetter, Foxborough. Our filly has a prolific filly’s winning black type pedigree with the first dam being a half to multiple group 1 winning mare Divine Madonna and stakes winner Blessum. She is bred to stretch out to that mile trip and is a half to 3 individual winners.
Horse #4: Flying Artie x Centro Gal (leased)
Our filly is by very exciting first season sire Flying Artie who’s first yearlings hit the $100k mark and impressed some of the top judges. This filly is impeccably bred. 1st dam is by champion European sire Giant’s Causeway and will be a half sister to a 6 time winner. The 1st dam is also a half to two stakes winners and is from the family of Silver Tip who was a Group 1 winner. An eye catching type who will benefit from her education process and thicken up as she develops into an exciting racing prospect for potential owners.
Horse # 3: Alpine Eagle x Gorgeous Georgia
This next gelding is from a sire that we never saw the best of in Alpine Eagle but was still capable of running 2nd in the Australian Guineas despite injury concerns. The dam is by current champion sire Snitzel and the grand-dam is a half to a stakes winner in Hong Kong so our horse has a exciting pedigree without costing too much money. Our gelding is a strong bodied type who looks to be an early running prospect with the hope of being a quick money spinner for connections.
Horse #2 Sacred Falls x Alpine Pearl
Rob and his father John purchased this lovely big gelding by Sacred Falls at the Karaka yearling sales earlier this year. Sacred Falls progeny are starting to make a real impression both in New Zealand and in Australia. Our gelding hails from the family of the Champion Caulfield and Melbourne Cup winner, Viewed and is bred to stay. His dam and grand dam both won at trips over the 2000m so we are optimistic our gelding will aspire to a Derby path as a three year old. He is a very good moving horse with an athletic frame who will continue to strengthen and develop from preparation to preparation.

It was worth the wait for this stunning c**t that is from the family of the great mare Winx! Rob liked what he saw of the on-line vision from the Inglis Sales and and was even more taken with him when he arrived at his stable in Romsey last week. He has all the makings of becoming the next stable star!
“The Ovens and Murray bundle” is a group of six horses - three purchased and three leased that will be trained by former Ovens and Murray footballer Robert Hickmott. The horses have been selected by Rob and will be trained out of his Caulfield and Romsey training centres. Some have proven pedigrees while others are by first year sires and hopefully represent great value. Rob has also included some really exciting well bred leased horses which has added a lot of value and kept the up front cost down.
