Calving is starting again around the 20th of July

4 CALVES FOR REHOMING THIS WEEK
Over the past two months we have managed to rehome around 150 bobby calves - thanks to all involved.
This week we have three boys and a girl from a neighbouring farm in need of homes.
Please email [email protected] if you can help save these calves from slaughter.
All calves will be NAIT registered, and have a small fee to cover the cost the farmer would receive from the slaughter house.
Located in Kaikoura and must be rehomed this week 🐄

40 CALVES NEEDING HOMES (UPDATE: ALL ADOPTED)
There are around another 40 Fresian Jersey calves to be born over the next few weeks.
Please email [email protected] if you can help save these from slaughter.
We can assist with transport in the Blenheim/Christchurch area, with the cost of transport.
All calves will be NAIT registered, and have a small fee to cover the cost the farmer would receive from the slaughter house.

REHOMING UPDATE
With your help we have been able to keep the slaughter truck away to date. Thank you to all the wonderful people who have come forward to adopt bobby calves from Kaikoura, and to those who have assisted us with transport - we are so grateful!
We are currently still in need of homes for the five Fresian Jersey boys pictured below. Please email [email protected] to save them from slaughter.
Note they are located in Kaikoura, NAIT registered, with a small cost (paid directly to the dairy farm at the same price they pay the slaughter truck, i.e. nothing comes to us), from a disease free farm, and will require much love and care.
Please share to help get these these calves rehomed 🐮

HOMES REQUIRED URGENTLY
We currently have four boys and one girl (some Fresian Jersey some Hereford crosses) in Kaikoura that are all in desperate need of homes. If we cannot find homes for them in the next few days they will be going on the slaughter truck. Please help us save these calves!

HOMES STILL NEEDED
While a lot of interest has been received, only a percentage of enquiries have been suitable re rehoming.

➜ There are calves (mostly Fresian Jersey) being born each day in Kaikoura and if they do not find homes around 200 will be off to slaughter. Suitable homes are being sought to avoid this. These calves will require bottle feeding, NAIT registering, vaccinations, drenching, shelter, protein pellets, good quality feed and enough grass as they grow older. Please only offer homes for calves if you can look after them properly. There will be consent forms to read and sign which outline the requirements of cattle.

URGENT
Many bobby calves are being born each day and are in urgent need of homes or they will be off to slaughter. This shows a photo of some of the calves born in the last few days that will be slaughtered next week if more homes are not found.
If anyone in the Marlborough or Canterbury region can take on these calves (mostly Fresian Jersey) please email: [email protected]
These calves will require shelter and hand raising with bottle feeding and pellets. They will also need NAIT registering, adequate land and enough grass as they grow older. Please only offer homes for calves if you can look after them properly.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
Is anyone in the Marlborough or Canterbury region interested in rearing newly born bobby calves?
There are currently calves (mostly Fresian Jersey) being born each day in Kaikoura and if they do not find homes around 200 will be off to slaughter. A farm is trying to gauge if there is any interest to avoid this. There are 5 calves already in need of a home and there will be another 5 born each day. The transporting truck is booked to collect calves twice weekly.
If anyone can adopt calves, please email: [email protected] 
These calves will require shelter and hand raising with bottle feeding. They will also need NAIT registering, vaccinations, drenching, protein pellets, good quality feed and enough grass as they grow older. Bulls will need to be ringed, while heifers would be easier to manage. Please only offer homes for calves if you can look after them properly. There will be consent forms to read and sign which outline the requirements of cattle.
