Ellery found 4 black kittens abandoned in a sack today. He is keeping one, but urgently needs to find homes for the other 3 as he already has over 15 rescue cats! The kittens are all identical, 2 males and 1 female, approximately 6 weeks old.

You may go to the palengke now if you're interested in adopting one. They are in front of a clothing shop close to the palengke exit. Look for Reema, or contact Ellery at +639390456822.

You can see a video of the kittens in the comments. The older kittens are from a litter they rescued from the trash last month!

We faced numerous challenges with our sterilization events this month due to storms, floods, canceled flights and our anesthesia stuck in customs. But we still managed to sterilize 173 dogs and cats by borrowing as much anesthesia as we could! We will schedule another event once we have our anesthesia stocks.

Thank you for the continued support from the El Nido community and businesses that help make these events possible!

The Nest El Nido Beach Resort hosted the vets in their luxurious rooms. AirSWIFT Airlines once again generously donated flights. DRYFT Camp
hosted the vets for an overnight stay at dreamy Darocotan Island. artcafeelnido always supports our events, and hosted our delicious farewell dinner as well.

Thank you Puerto Deli, Holy Smoke, Pizza Nostra, Balayniporrah, Tutto Passa and Delizia for donating lunch/merienda for our volunteers on event days!

Thank you Artcafe, La Plage, Maremegmeg Beach Bar, Gusto Bistro, Kape ni Manang, Ver de, and Tutto Passa for donating dinners for the vets.

Thank you El Nido Zipline and Ferrata Nature Canopy Walk for donating memorable excursions.

Thank you Boodmo for sending your manager to volunteer when we didn't have enough volunteers.

Thank you to all our tireless volunteers. And of course thank you to vets Shalou, Erica and Jalyn, without whom these events would be impossible. Doc Erica volunteers as the in house vet for Dumaguete Animal Sanctuary, and she will be back to help us with more sterilizations in the future!

That's a wrap on September sterilizations! Stay tuned for updates on our next events!

We are so sorry, but we have to cancel tomorrow's sterilization event because we have run out of anesthesia!

We sterilized 73 dogs and cats today, which was more than we expected. Plus several of the dogs were large enough to require extra anesthesia.

We ordered a lot of anesthesia, but it's been stuck in customs for many weeks. We borrowed anesthesia from everyone we could in Palawan and Manila to do these events, but there is a shortage in the entire country right now. Everyone's anesthesia is stuck in Customs now; we're not sure what's going on.

We will prioritize those we could not get to at our next event. We are so, so sorry as we wanted to sterilize as many animals as possible!

We will post a followup post on the events later! In the meantime, thank you to everyone in the community who has supported us through another round of sterilizations!!

We will be doing free sterilizing September 18, 21, and 22 in Caalan, 8am - 3pm.

Our vets arrived safe and sound and we will start sterilization tomorrow!

They went through so much to get here -- multiple canceled flights in Manila, diverted flights to Puerto Princesa, flooded roads to El Nido...

Our tentative schedule is Sept 18, 19, 21, and 22. The vets will take one day off to go island hopping when the weather is good. We will start contacting you tonight to set up appointments!

We want to make sure we get to everyone who has made an appointment already, so if we haven't added you to the spreadsheet yet, we will be in touch in the next couple of days.

16/09/2024

Our vet is still stuck in Manila due to canceled flights.

With how the weather and flights are looking, we are hoping to push the event to September 19, 20, 21 and 22.

We will keep you updated. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

14/09/2024

We will be canceling our free sterilization event tomorrow, September 15th, due to the weather and delays with the vets' flights.

There is widespread flooding throughout El Nido, and heavy rain and winds are predicted to continue tomorrow. For everyone's safety, we will proceed when the weather improves. We will keep you updated. Thank you for your understanding.

Please check this spreadsheet to see if you have an appointment with us for free sterilization. You may comment on this post with your details for an appointment (cat or dog, male or female, age of animal) or text 09166086709.

We've registered 124 animals so far.

Last time many people with appointments did not show up and did not message us to tell us they were not coming. When you do not show up, it takes away slots from other animals we could have sterilized instead.

Right now we do not know if the vets' flights will be canceled or delayed due to the storm. We also have an all day brownout on Tuesday the 17th.

For now our plan is to sterilize on September 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, 22. But we will have to see how the flights and weather turns out, so we will message people tomorrow to confirm appointments for September 15th.

Thank you to all the businesses in El Nido that donated to make this September sterilization event happen!

Behind the scenes, it is a tremendous amount of work to coordinate vets, flights, accommodations, meals, and medical supplies we need to buy well in advance before the events even start. It wouldn't be possible without the generous support of these businesses, most of which have donated again and again!

We did 4 days of free sterilization September 4-7, and will be resuming again September 15-22. We were lucky enough to find an amazing second vet and a vet nurse to come September 15-22, so we can do twice as many sterilizations!

HUGE thanks to AirSWIFT Airlines for not only donating roundtrip flights for all these vets, but for always supporting our sterilization events. We would not be able to bring vets from outside Palawan without their generous support!

So far we've preregistered about 100 cats and dogs for our next batch and will share a spreadsheet of everyone registered soon. Please comment on the previous post if you'd like to reserve a slot, and we will be in touch in the next couple of days to schedule an appointment!

Lauren has been fostering this sweet puppy and would love to keep her, but unfortunately her son is allergic. Her son named the puppy Construction Truck, and they have been calling her Truck for short. 😆

Lauren rescued the puppy when it was being beaten by a bamboo stick. Truck has been given Nexgard and will stay with Lauren until a responsible owner is found.

Truck has an injury to her back leg but it is improving each day and is not broken. She’s got a healthy appetite, is great with kids, other dogs, super friendly and playful. She just needs love and a furever home.

Please message us if you'd like to adopt Truck!

Update: Owner found. The dog's name is Seven!

We found this very sweet boy wandering in front of Town Square. He is extremely friendly so he obviously has an owner. Perhaps he got scared by thunder and got lost.

We have had him since last night. Please share this post so that we may find his owner!

Please, please support Street Dog Sanctuary, the only dog sanctuary in Palawan. The founder unexpectedly died last year, and I can't imagine how difficult it has been to continue running the sanctuary. Please consider helping no matter the amount!

Urgent plea 🥺 We have 2 days supply left of dry dog food. Please support feeding our rescues ❤️🐾
