MASH (Malamutes and Siberian Huskies) is a group for Northern Breed dogs & their humans, located in the state of Oklahoma. Northern Breed dogs include huskies, malamutes, akitas, chow chows, samoyeds, pomeranians, eskimo dogs, and shar peis, to name a few! We offer dog ownership advice, host monthly pack walks, go on group hikes, run fundraising events, host free movie nights and more! We are also

an officially recognized AKC Fit Dog Club. Our group walks & hikes count towards AKC Fit Dog titles (don't worry, your dog doesn't have to be AKC registered to be in our group)! 🇺🇸🎇 4th of July is almost here - for most, that means a fun weekend with cookouts and fireworks, but in the world of dog rescue, it means dogs going missing. More dogs go missing on 4th of July weekend than ANY OTHER TIME OF YEAR.

1. Double check your back yard for escape routes. 🧐
Fill in holes. Reinforce your fences. When loud firework booms start happening, dogs can get scared and might try to escape in search of safety.

2. Please make sure your pet's microchip information is updated with your current phone number and address! 📣
If your pet goes missing but your info isn't updated, your pet can't be reunited. Haven't had your pet microchipped yet? Contact your vet ASAP and get that done.

3. Tire your pup out before the festivities. 🥎🦴
Go for a nice long walk, play fetch, run around the park, do some training exercises. The more tired your dog is before fireworks start, the less likely they are to freak out.

4. Make sure your dog is wearing a collar AND up-to-date ID tags with your current phone number. 🐶
This one is self explanatory. If your dog gets out, this is one of the only ways to find where they belong.

5. Turn on radio/TV to distract from fireworks. 📺📻
Any kind of background noise will do - a TV show, a calm music playlist, a nature documentary. This will help a lot to help calm your dog when firework booms start.

And finally... please consider buying a bag or two of dog food to donate to your local shelter. Shelters and rescues all over the country are at max capacity. We could all really use your help. ❤
