Just a heads up to those who I haven't had an opportunity to tell yet. We will be CLOSED from September 4th-September 15th. During this time, I will be unable to answer the phone, see or respond to texts, or respond to emails. We will not have cell reception or service where we are going, so please have patience.
Lessons and appointments will resume as normal on Monday, September 16th.
If anyone has any concerns, please reach out to me before the 4th.

Welcoming Clover for Refresher Boarding!
Clover is enrolled in Private Lessons and had boarded with us in the past. The difference here, with Refresher Boarding, is that daily training to meet a specific goal is included in the boarding package.
Clover's goal is to ve able to settle and go to place when guests arrive or someone comes home as well as improving leash skills.
We are excited to spend this time with Clover!
Ricky is here for boarding! Ricky was enrolled in a puppy foundations day training program with us when he was a little dude. Now he's big and enjoying weekly private lessons!

Welcoming Izzy the Standard Poodle for boarding!
Izzy is enrolled in private lessons and is a therapy dog in her free time! We are so excited that she is spending the week with us!
Bailey is here for boarding, aka her home away from home. Today was the first day all week that we could actually do outdoor activities. So, we headed to Ken Lockwood Gorge for some walking and swimming! The dogs had a great time, and Taz was so excited to be able to join! We love treating our boarders to fun outings and activities!
Melyn is nearing the end of her Board and Train, and I can't believe how far she has come in such a short period of time. From a dog who couldn't settle and had 0 impulse control to a dog who goes right to place and lays down and thinks before doing. She still has a long road ahead of her, but the foundations she's learned in board and train will make it so much easier for her owners going forward to continue to work with her.
Remember, training is an ongoing process that never truly stops. But Melyn is now much closer to reaching her goals!
Welcoming Zuzu for boarding!
Zuzu was enrolled in our Puppy Foundations package over the winter and is now here for some boarding while her family is away.
She's very fearful and is slow to warm up, but once she's cool with you, she's a certified sweetie!
We are excited to spend the week with Zuzu!
Welcoming Melyn to the Canine Potential Pack!
Melyn started out with Private Lessons and is jumping into a Board and Train with us! Her goals are to work on her off switch and neutrality around other animals (especially dogs). We are excited to see how Melyn does in her Board and Train program!

After a short break, we will be holding our next Pack Hike on June 16th at 10am in Hoffman Park. I know this is a bit far for some of you, but I'm hoping Taz will be able to participate in this one in his stroller as the path is stroller friendly.
Good walking sneakers are all you will need for this easy hike. The entire hike is about 2 miles and will take about 1 hour. This is a popular trail for other walkers and folks with dogs.
If you plan to come, please RSVP so that I have a head count for that day.

Welcoming Bailey for boarding! Bailey has been doing private lessons to help his resource guarding and reactivity. He doesn't do great in a kennel environment, and we are looking forward to having him stay with us for the week!
So excited to have Bex stay with us for the weekend! Bex has been doing private lessons for several years now and is such a different dog than when he first started thanks to his mom's dedication.
Can't wait for a fun-filled weekend with this guy!
Welcoming Clover for boarding! Clover is enrolled in private lessons and decided to stay over for a few days while her mom is away! We're excited for our sleepover with her!
Thank you to everyone who made it to the April Pack Hike! We couldn't have asked for a better day! Weather was perfect, dogs were all on their best behavior, and we even had some new hikers join!

Remember Ricky, the adorable Golden Retriever puppy who did puppy foundations via Day Trianing? Well, he's 7 months old now and enrolled in private lessons! His goals are leash manners and off leash reliability!
I love it when my puppy foundation clients come back for more!

Welcoming Clover to the Canine Potential Pack!
Clover is a 1 year old standard poodle! She's truly beauty and brains! Unfortunately, her grand humans don't love her energy and bouncy personality, so we are going to give her skills necessary to be a polite hostess for when they visit. We will also be learning some really important leash manners to make walks more enjoyable for all.
We are very much looking forward to Clover's growth through in home private lessons!
Welcoming Bean to the Canine Potential Pack!
Bean is a 2 year old Golden Retriever who lacks impulse control and loves to chase after wildlife! Through in-home private lessons, we are going to be ecollar conditioning Bean to help with his recall and off leash obedience, as well as leash manners!
We are so excited to see how Bean progresses over the course of the next several weeks!
We skipped a month, but I'm hoping for a dry April Pack Hike! We will walk in the rain, but not in downpour or dangerous conditions (flooding/lightning). This Hike will be relatively easy, but will cross a major road twice and there is one set of stairs we will go up. This one will be great from those working on public skills with their dog! Walking on leash on a sidewalk, around cars, and pedestrians! Wear comfy sneakers/walking shoes for this one, and bring plenty of water.
We will meet at the playground parking lot on Mt. Hope St. In Lambertville. And we will stop on the canal for a group photo and water break.
This easy walk is a little less than 2 miles.
As always, all are welcome as long as you follow our group rules!

2. 6ft leash or shorter only. No flexi/retractable leashes allowed.
3. No on-leash greetings between dogs.
4. No petting someone else's dog without permission.
5. Please pick up after your dog.

Meet Marshall! Marshall is a 6 year old former laboratory beagle who needs some help learning how to share Mom with Dad. He LOVES his people but will often guard the bed from Dad if Mom is there. This is a common issue with dogs who attach strongly with one person in the home. Marshall is also very leash reactive, making it difficult to go on walks together. Through in-home private lessons, we are hoping to help Marshall and his parents reach their greatest potential!

Who is ready for our February Pack Hike???
We will be doing a Valentine's Day theme again! So bring Valentine's to share! That can be in the form of dog treats, cards, or even candy for the humans!
This pack hike is geared more toward those who aren't up for a full-blown treck in the woods and would prefer more flat terrain and more of a pack walk experience.
This hike would be ideal for those working on loose leash walking skills and ignoring distractions such as other pedestrians and bikers.
We will be meeting in the parking lot of the High Bridge Columbia Trail Trailhead.
It's going to be February, so expect it to be cold, and while most of the path is paved or gravel, make sure to bring appropriate footwear.
As always: please keep all dogs on a 6-foot leash or shorter at all times. This group is not flexi lead friendly, so please keep the retractable at home.
Please refrain from on-leash greetings between dogs. Most people attending are working on things such as reactivity, over excitement, and exposure, so to help set everyone up for success, we ask that people maintain a respectful distance between dogs.
That being said, please do not pet someone's dog without expressed permission from the owner.
And, most importantly, please pick up after your dog!
Anyone and everyone is welcome! This is a FREE event, I just ask that you RSVP so that I know how many will be there.

Welcoming Ricky to the Canine Potential Pack!
Ricky is a 4 month old golden retriever puppy! He is enrolled in Day Training for Puppy Foundations. He will stay with me 2 days a week for 5 weeks to learn all of his basic puppy foundational skills! We can't wait to watch Ricky grow and help him learn to be the best dog he can be!
HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who braved the cold to make it out to our January hike! You guys are real troopers!
We had a 100% reactive group this month, and each dog and handler team did AMAZING with the challenges presented on this hike!
I also want to give a massive thank you to who would probably never in a million years hike in those conditions if it weren't for this group and she still managed to take some incredible photos of all the dogs!

New Year New Pack Hike!
Who is ready for a January Pack Hike??
January 21st 2024 at 10am.
We are striving for another easy walk with this one as the weather this time of year can be pretty unpredictable.
The Hike will start in the parking lot of the D&R Canal off of River Road. (Please see the following 2 maps for an idea of how to get to the meeting location. If you type the Holcombe Jamison Farmstead Museum into your GPS, it will take you to the driveway entrance. Follow the driveway all the way down to a large parking lot to reach our meeting location.
This walk will last a little over an hour and will be slightly over 2 miles. We will start on the railroad side of the trail and end on the towpath side to complete a loop.
It may be cold, so please keep that in mind with your dogs and your attire. Comfortable walking shoes are appropriate and bring plenty of water for you and your dog!
As always, everyone is welcome, but please follow our group rules:

Here are a few clips from our first lesson with Jovi! Jovi is reactive on walks so this whole session was focused on engagement outside and showing mom when and where to use marker words and reward Jovi for a job well done. In this short session, we were able to keep Jovi's attention around 3 different people and a dog in the distance and avoided any reaction from him! This is also Jovi's intro to a slip lead for walks as he is usually in a harness so in the beginning I was introducing him to leash pressure and how to respond to it. Starting your walks out with a bit of engagement and then maintaining that focus throughout your walk by rewarding for eye contact and getting your dog's attention around distractions can help set up for a more successful walk!
