If you are in the process of training your dog or puppy I want to give you a little tip when it comes to your mindset towards their training
Instead of constantly focusing on the things you want your dog to STOP doing such as:
-I want them to stop jumping on people
-I want them to stop pulling on the leash
-I want my dog to stop getting in my way as I’m trying to clean the house

Start focusing on what it is you DO WANT them to do.
-I want them to be calm whenever guests come in the home
-I want my dog to be able to walk with a loose leash next to me
-I want my dog to stay on their bed while I get the cleaning done

This shift might seem simple but what’s it’s going to do is give you clear goals on what it is you’re working towards which will in turn help you to set better expectations for your dog. So rather than just getting frustrated with them and correcting the unwanted behaviors you can set up a plan on how you’re going to accomplish your goals

We have our newest two week board and train Bailey!
Some reason Bailey is here for training👇🏼
-She barks a lot especially when people come into the home or it’s time to get in her crate at night
-She jumps on people
-She play bites and like to grab clothes and tear them
-She digs holes whenever she is outside
-She chews things up
-She brings in sticks and rocks from outside
-She has to be bribed with a treat to come back inside (and sometimes that doesn’t even work!)

Over the next couple of weeks we are going to be addressing these problem areas, teach her some basic obedience, and work on teaching her how to have a calmer state of mind!

Welcome our new newest board and trains Hank and Hera! They are both Australian shepherds (from different homes) Hank is 1.5 years old and Hera is about 6 months!

Some of Hanks problems:
-No off leash recall
-Jumps on people
-Barks excessively when someone comes to the house
-Demand barks for attention
-Can be reactive on walks
-Strong herding instincts and tries to chase/bark at farm animals
-Constantly has to be doing something
Hanks owners are moving to a property with more land and their main goal is for him to be reliable off leash. They would also love for him to behave well when guests come over and have overall better manners

Some of Hera’s problems:
-Very timid around new people
-Pulls on the leash and bites at the leash
-Reactive towards other dogs
-Needs better obedience
-Chew things up
-Easily distracted
-Terrified of the vacuum
Hera’s owners would love to be able to take her on more enjoyable walks and for her to be a running partner in the future. They also want her to have more solid obedience and to build up her confidence!

Hank will be here with us for our 3 Week Board and Train and Hera is here for our 2 Week. Be sure to follow along with their training progress!

Our 2 week board and train student miss Izzy has been working hard through her first week of training!
So far we’ve been working on her obedience commands, impulse control, leash manners, and more. This week we will start working on all she’s learned around some more distractions to proof her obedience!

Meet our newest 2 Week Board and Train Jak!
Jak is here all the way from Brooklyn! He is a 5 year old Australian Shepherd and some of the reasons his owners brought him in for training are:
-He doesn’t have any recall
-He pulls on leash and can be reactivity to dogs, motorcycles, skateboarders etc.
-He freaks out when his owners leave
-He rushes through doors
-Overall needs some improvement on obedience

Be sure to give Jak a warm welcome and watch for updates on his progress over the next couple of weeks!

As I scroll through pictures and videos of the past two years of Nate and I working together full time I’ve realized 2 things.
1. We need to do a better job at taking more pictures/videos together
2. We are so insanely blessed and I’m sorry to admit that we take that for granted from time to time.

Over the 2 years we have had so many incredible people trust us with their four-legged best friends, we have grown, we’ve learned some really hard lessons, and we’ve made some really incredible memories.
There were many times, especially in the first year, that we thought “what the heck are we doing? Should Nate just go back to work somewhere else?” We always told ourselves that was an option, but we could only make the decision on a good day. Telling ourselves that got us through some rough days and now after 2 years we still don’t quite know what we’re doing, but we know we’re walking on the path God has called us and we’re so grateful for this season of life.
Going into year 3 our goals are to enjoy the little moments more and not take those for granted, continue trusting God and his goodness, to take more pictures/videos together, and as always, continue to learn and grow to to serve our clients to the best of our abilities.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for all of your support. We couldn’t do it without you❤️

Meet Oopy! He’s a 1 year old Rottweiler and he’s here for our 2 Week Board and Train. Oopy already knows all of his basic commands but he’s easily distracted so sometimes he’ll only do it for a treat and he can’t always hold the command for very long. Some of the things we are going to be working on are:
-His impulse control. He has a very high prey drive so anything that moves catches his attention and he wants to chase after it.
-His leash manners. He gets very excited for walks and can act a little crazy in the beginning. He also likes to bite his siblings leash and his own!
-Learning to settle in the home
-Some resource guarding issues
-Working on building up his focus without having to rely on treats or toys
His owners would love to be able to take him on more enjoyable walks, take him camping with them, and for him to learn to have a calmer mindset in the home and have an “off switch”.
Be sure to follow along in his progress over the next couple of weeks!
