Our 2 week board and train student miss Izzy has been working hard through her first week of training!
So far we’ve been working on her obedience commands, impulse control, leash manners, and more. This week we will start working on all she’s learned around some more distractions to proof her obedience!

Meet our newest 2 Week Board and Train Jak!
Jak is here all the way from Brooklyn! He is a 5 year old Australian Shepherd and some of the reasons his owners brought him in for training are:
-He doesn’t have any recall
-He pulls on leash and can be reactivity to dogs, motorcycles, skateboarders etc.
-He freaks out when his owners leave
-He rushes through doors
-Overall needs some improvement on obedience

As I scroll through pictures and videos of the past two years of Nate and I working together full time I’ve realized 2 things.
1. We need to do a better job at taking more pictures/videos together
2. We are so insanely blessed and I’m sorry to admit that we take that for granted from time to time.

Over the 2 years we have had so many incredible people trust us with their four-legged best friends, we have grown, we’ve learned some really hard lessons, and we’ve made some really incredible memories.
There were many times, especially in the first year, that we thought “what the heck are we doing? Should Nate just go back to work somewhere else?” We always told ourselves that was an option, but we could only make the decision on a good day. Telling ourselves that got us through some rough days and now after 2 years we still don’t quite know what we’re doing, but we know we’re walking on the path God has called us and we’re so grateful for this season of life.
Going into year 3 our goals are to enjoy the little moments more and not take those for granted, continue trusting God and his goodness, to take more pictures/videos together, and as always, continue to learn and grow to to serve our clients to the best of our abilities.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for all of your support. We couldn’t do it without you❤️

Meet Oopy! He’s a 1 year old Rottweiler and he’s here for our 2 Week Board and Train. Oopy already knows all of his basic commands but he’s easily distracted so sometimes he’ll only do it for a treat and he can’t always hold the command for very long. Some of the things we are going to be working on are:
-His impulse control. He has a very high prey drive so anything that moves catches his attention and he wants to chase after it.
-His leash manners. He gets very excited for walks and can act a little crazy in the beginning. He also likes to bite his siblings leash and his own!
-Learning to settle in the home
-Some resource guarding issues
-Working on building up his focus without having to rely on treats or toys
His owners would love to be able to take him on more enjoyable walks, take him camping with them, and for him to learn to have a calmer mindset in the home and have an “off switch”.

Does your dog struggle with impulse control?

Here are some quick tips that you can implement today to start bettering these behaviors!
Note: each situation and dog is going to be different, so some of these tips may apply more than others. Just be creative and think about how you could apply some of these techniques and tips into your dog’s specific struggles!

Please welcome our newest 3 Week Board and Train Leroy!
He is a 7 month old Bernidoodle that was rescued from an Amish breeding situation.
Leroy is afraid of pretty much anything and everything so confidence building is one of the main reasons he is here. Leroy instantly wants to flee the second he feels uncomfortable and if that’s not an option he trembles and pees.
Leroy also doesn’t know any obedience so we will of course be working on that while he is here as well.
The main goals his owners have for training is:
-For him to gain more confidence so he can enjoy life more
-Learn to be more neutral around new people and in new environments
-Have a better relationship with his crate
-Learn his basic obedience
-Learn leash manners

Archie went on his last outing before he goes back home tomorrow! We took him and our personal dogs to Charleston Falls and they all had a blast. Tomorrow it’ll be time to take all Archie has learned and teach it to his owners!

Board and Train Archie got some training in downtown! This was great exposure for him and he handled it all like a champ!
We’re also super proud of our pups for being so neutral around Archie to help slowly build up his confidence around other dogs.

This weekends lineup!

Meet our newest 3 Week Board and Train Archie!! This little guy has the biggest personality but with that also comes some big problems!
Archie has already gone through training with another company so he knows pretty much all of his commands but some of this things we need to work on are:
-Aggression. he lashes out if he gets startled awake, while his owners try to groom him or do other types of handling with him, and some other random things can trigger him. He also has aggression towards cats and other dogs.
-He jumps on people and nips at their sleeves
-He has some resource guarding issues with toys or if his owners drop something and he gets ahold of it
-He has some separation anxiety. He whines in his crate and paws at the door. His owners also have trouble getting him into his crate and he will run away to avoid it.
-He pulls hard on the leash and will go dead weight if you try and get him to walk in a direction he doesn’t want to go. He will also bite at the leash
-Reactivity towards cats and other dogs
-He can be demanding when trying to get his owners attention

Archie is a very smart boy (maybe too smart for his own good at times😉) and we cannot wait to get started with him!

Meet Lainey! She is a 2.5 year old Chow mix and she is here for our 2 week Basic Board and Train!

She is here to:
-Work on her basic obedience
-Learn leash manners
-Build her confidence
-Work on off leash obedience
-Learn to be ok with nail trims
-Address some unwanted behaviors such as jumping on people and on counters

Today we did some at Snyder Park with C**t and Wesson. These two boys have been a blast to work so far and we cannot wait to watch them continue to grow during their last week of training!
