What a blessing FunBuns has recently witnessed spending time with this 4 week old litter of Netherland Dwarf bunnies. Rose has been a momma of several litters during her time with us but I must say these are the sweetest 3 that have still my heart recently.

I want a bunny to keep my other bunny company.

Things you should know when having more than one rabbit.

Rabbits typically like to be alone according to nature however, you can have multiples and here’s how.

1. In order to commonly have same s*x rabbits as pets in the household they generally do well partnered at a young age. From experience once a bunny gets close to a year old without experience of being partnered they can often fight BUT not always. You could have a gentle natured bunny that doesn’t mind a friend.

2. Opposite s*x bunnies do well at any age but be sure to have one spade or neutered or you’ll end up with a whole army of bunnies. Bunnies don’t work like most animals where they can only breed during a stage of a cycle. Female rabbits release their eggs during the breeding process.

3. When introducing a new friend be sure to introduce them slowly to each other by having them separated but visible to each other to get used to the other being around. Monitor their play time together and if they get along well it’s time to hang out on a regular basis.

These three ladies had the pleasure of going to a new home together and as you can see are bonding well and happy they get to spend the rest of their lives together!

Say hello to my little munchkins who officially turned 8 weeks today!

These little sweet peas have been a joy to our home for the past 8 weeks. They have been exploring the great outdoors and their momma has been the best momma they could ask for.

I was pleasantly surprised by the connection I had with rabbits when we introduced them to our family. I always had dogs growing up and never experienced life with a bunny but they certainly are one of the most calming small sized animals and give the best snuggles under the neck, like a little hug 🤗

Connection really does make our day whether with another person or a pet. I always remembered when I have a moment where I light up and understand something on a deeper level ( I call these aha moments) that it’s never what someone says that makes the impact it’s how they make you feel. Pets never have to say a thing.

Today, 10 babies are left without a mommy...

It is with a deep saddened heart that we announce the sudden passing of our sweet Jessica Rabbit. It feels like yesterday when we chose her from her siblings and drove her home. We are still at a loss of words here and cannot for sure say what happened. We have assumptions that there were complications after birthing her sweet little babies but can’t say for sure. We can assure you we are paying extra special attention to the little Giants daily. At this point they are nibbling on solids and water but will be receiving additional support from me with organic formula as they are 3.5 weeks and ready to work towards being weaned.

Jessica resides in one of her favourite spots in the rabbit run outside and is marked by a pure white stone... we have plans to have our children paint it with love. Thank you Jessica for sending a ripple into the world and reminding us how short life truly is. The strongest and brightens flames burn much much too fast. Rest well sweet friend I know you are hopping around outside endlessly - you always loved it so much out there. Your family loves you.

You know that feeling when you make your bed first thing in the morning? It’s the same feeling with a fresh bed for the buns!

Here at the Rabbitry we use fresh pine shavings for bedding to remove the toxic build up that can be harmful when using cedar.
