I’m not looking for work, so this isn’t a sales pitch—just some friendly advice for anyone needing a groomer during the busiest season of the year.

**Here’s the deal:**
- Not all dog groomers are qualified.
- Not all dog groomers are properly trained.
- You get what you pay for.

**Red flags** pop up when someone’s hunting for a groomer *last minute* at Christmas:
🎄 *You didn’t plan ahead.* Christmas happens EVERY YEAR, folks.
🎄 We’re already flat-out looking after our loyal clients—who, by the way, booked in advance (some for Christmas **2025**!).

**Pro tip:** Find a groomer you trust and stick with them. Groomer-hopping isn’t just stressful for us—it’s confusing and unsettling for your dog. Every groomer has a different routine, and constant change doesn’t help anyone.

Got a nervous or reactive dog? The middle of a packed, high-stress salon at Christmas is *not* the time for their first visit. Plan ahead, choose wisely, and help your pup feel comfortable.

Oh, and asking for a *cheap*, last-minute groom? That’s the cherry on the chaos cake.

Cancelled on the day or no shows will not be rebooked without full payment of missed appointment.
I have a long waiting list of disappointed clients who would like there dogs done for Christmas and I have to turn they away and I have extra staff at Christmas which I have to pay even if you don't turn up :(

They were given their name after a character in a novel by Sir Walter Scott which he wrote in 1815

The Poodle originates in Germany, where it was bred as a water retriever, used by duck hunters. The ancestors of the breed were various water dogs of Europe. The trim, which is sometimes viewed as a fashionable fancy trim for show dogs, is in fact traditional and very practical: the hindquarters being clipped to aid the dog’s propulsion in swimming and the protective bands of hair (now fancifully called pom-poms) left on the joints and tip of the tail for protection from cold.

The Kennel Club recognises three varieties, differentiated by size. All share the same standard. The Miniature and the Toy varieties are a result of scaling down and capturing the same features in a smaller mould. Earlier Standards recommended that the traditional lion trim was used in the show ring. More recently it has been acceptable to show Poodles in other types of trim.
