I just wrapped up a 12-day session with these four kitties. This was my first visit ever with them so I was really surprised that they all met me at the door!
I had a great time getting to know each of them better and learning all their different personalities and mannerisms.

I watched Maia and her brother, Scruffy for several days. After the first day, I could tell that Maia was full of extra energy and needed help releasing it.
They are used to having access to a doggy door but there isn't one at their new house yet.
I noticed a big difference in Maia once I started using the mat to feed her. Fifteen minutes of enrichment like this or making her have to work to get treats out of her kong is equal to several minutes of playing outside. It will wear them out!
Enrichment like this is also great for their brains. It's the same kind of stuff we do for our dog with Alzheimer’s to keep his brain working hard.

Roscoe, a gorgeous Catahoula, who LOVES to play!
Maia and Scruffy are new clients. They're used to having doggy door access but just moved to a new home without one.
After the first two visits, I could tell that they had an abundance of energy and Maia was chewing on all kinds of things. Once the doggy door is installed and they can run outside as much as they want, their energy will be much more controllable.
I knew I needed to do something or else they're gonna be miserable and the clients are gonna come back to a mess. So I made a trip to the pet store and set them up with toys that I think matches each pet perfectly. The clients were happy and impressed. The pets loved it.
I do so much more than just dump food in a bowl and let dogs go potty. 😉

We received a call tonight from Julie, Bo's previous owner. Julie was our neighbor for four years before she moved to assisted living.
She's 73 and mentally impaired so there is major concern that she won't understand what is happening. Her brother has been our primary contact. He's been telling her for a long time about Bo's health and she hasn't understood.
Her family told her today that Bo has passed away. She wanted to tell James and I thank you for taking care of her dog. She was crying and said that she missed her puppy. I told her that we missed him too. I cried. She cried. Her brother and the Starkey manager were on the phone as well and they cried.
Her brother told her that we were going to have Bo cremated and put into a teddy bear memorial for her so that she could hold him whenever she wanted. I know she'll never put the bear down.
I told them that I had submitted Bo's cremation request and ordered the bear this morning before I even got out of bed. 💔
At the very end of the call, her brother said that she didn't really understand what he was telling her.
My heart breaks for her. Bo is all she talked about at Starkey. She came over every Sunday once we got home from church. She had no idea that last Sunday was her last time to ever hold him.
Please pray for Julie that she can find a peace that she understands. I did tell her brother that I gave Bo very strict instructions as we were holding him right at the end that he better be waiting for Julie in heaven. He better run as fast as he can towards her and give her all the kisses she's been missing.
We also took him in the blanket he came with when we moved him to our house and then when he passed he was cuddling the stuffed animal that came from her house. It was important to me that he have a part of Julie with him as he passed. He was loved by two families. I wanted him to feel the love of both.
After he was gone, we continued to hold him and prayed over him like we always do once our
The Welch family is also celebrating Bo today!
He's been with us for a year and a half today.
When you get to be his age, you can celebrate every single day if you want!
I act the exact same way as Benjamin in the video when someone mentions dinner...
Benjamin chose a steak entree tonight for his dinner. His tummy is very happy now. We also took a nice (chilly!) walk.

I wish I could just lay in my bed and chill for the day!
Maddie the Frenchie. She didn't bark when I came in the door. She didn't bark at me at all when we were inside. That's huge progress after just a few visits!
Maddie is still trying to find her way with her new owners. She was neglected for a long time and has been in her new home for about a year and a half. They've made great strides with her and were anxious about leaving her for several days. I've kept them updated on our progress and both mom and dad have been able to take a deep breath and not have to worry about their girl.

My babes typically join me in my zen room if I'm doing yoga, but I wasn't sure if they'd want to be in here with me once I got a chair in here so that I could just relax and read, rest or be quiet.
Apparently the answer is yes. Four of them are in here, sleeping. One is snoring. Life is good.

Ruthie, one of my lunch dates today. She's just taking it easy today.
I have these three babes again for the entire week! You've seen these babes many times on this page. They're Austin, Peach and Rhett.
Peach almost always catches her food, Rhett catches his about 80% and Austin is about 50% of the time.
And... Introducing the my newest client, Spooky the cat!
My second visit of the morning. Such a sweet start to my day! Zoe is a bit lazy on the morning and doesn't always want to get up!
At my first visit with Benjamin today, he had what I'm suspecting was a seizure. He's never had one according to his mom, and he was really scared. I'm very glad that I'm familiar with pets and seizures, having had a pet of my own that was afflicted with them.
I sat with him and comforted him until it was over. Then he ate his treat, jumped back in my lap and acted like nothing happened. I hung around for several minutes after that just to make sure that he was fine and relaxed again.
I did notify his mom as soon as I noticed that something wasn't right, just in case it was something that would require a trip to the ER vet. For seizures, there's not a lot to do at the time it's happening other than staying calm, noting how weak or strong it is, how long it lasted and if they vomited, peed or pooped during the event.
These things are good for the vet to know so I relayed all that info to his mom.
This video is from my second visit with him today. I'm glad to see he's in good spirits and doing well. I think he took a nap while I was home! We took a nice walk.
Milo's retriever function is NOT broken! 😉 I've tried to get him to play fetch with me all week and this is the first time he played.
My second visit of the morning. Milo's family is gone on a cruise for so he and I are hanging out together this week. He's so much fun!
We played on the floor last night, just rolling around rough housing. He has several balls but I can't get him to pay any attention to them. He's a golden retriever but I think the retriever part of him is broke because I can't get him to retrieve anything! Lol.
