Our Rubbermaid bucket puppies almost died yesterday 7.5.24, they were chosen for space euthanasia because they've been in the shelter since June 6 but we have not advertised them adequately and I am being given an opportunity to get the word out! These kids are urgent! Please help me find their safe place! The three pups were found in a Rubbermaid bucket soaking wet and overheated, we are amazed that they survived. Two boys and one girl, they are growing up to look like lab hound type mixes. All of these puppies are mellow and sweet. They have been wonderful in our care. They struggled in the beginning so they missed critical time in the Internet when we were not sure if they would make it.

If you're dealing with a dog that tends to run off, feels scared, or is unfamiliar to you during transport, here's a very useful tip: secure the leash handle by closing it in your car door. This allows you to grab it before opening the door, preventing the dog from jumping out and keeping it from moving excessively in the car.

Some points to consider:

1) Ideally, transport should be done using an impact-resistant crate.

2) Seat belts and tethers, when paired with harnesses, are also effective.

However, many people might not have these items due to cost or availability, so securing the leash in the door can be a simple and effective alternative.

Further clarification:
This advice isn't solely for dog owners. While it's important for owners to have proper safety equipment, many individuals transport dogs for various reasons and might not have this gear available. People often come across stray dogs and need to transport them, or volunteers transport dogs for rescue organizations and might not have control over what equipment is provided. Foster caregivers might be given supplies that don't include seat belts, tethers, or harnesses, and some people may have multiple dogs and not enough crates.

This tip is for those who lack other safety measures. If you do have the proper equipment, that's fantastic. But if this advice can help prevent even one dog from being hit by a car, it's worth sharing.

In the event that your dog is lost and you see him/her, STOP & DROP. Do not approach. Do not make eye contact.

📯 MILLIE IS SAFE 📯

5 days on the run, and when we say 'run' we mean 'run'!

Thankfully Millie remained in the same general area but she was constantly on the move, which makes settling and trapping a dog almost impossible. She even spent a night caught up in a barbed wire fence but with the help of some kind people she was freed. Unfortunately, once free she took off again.

HUGE thank you to:

⭐️ everyone who called in sightings. We received a LOT of phone calls, and each call played an integral part in her eventual capture.

⭐️ Tamara, the homeowner on Lakefield Trail, who allowed us to use her backyard to hold Millie while we waited for foster mom to arrive on scene.

⭐️ the foster parents, who despite having a young child, would travel and hour and half each way, every day, to assist in her capture.

⭐️ the new owners, Diane and her daughter Emily, for sticking with us and helping us in this process. It has been extremely stressful for them also.

⭐️ to the PHENOMENAL Nancy Ager, who was on scene every day, spent hours assisting, and was responsible for her eventual capture. Nancy's dog behavioral skills are incredible. After spending 30 minutes, along with her own four-legged faithful companion, working with Millie, Nancy was able to secure her and keep her calm until her foster parents arrived.

Millie is now on her way back to the foster's home, where I believe they are going to adopt her. She's happiest there, and she deserves nothing more than to be happy for the rest of her life.

Millie, you are a sweet girl, and we wish you a wonderful, long, healthy life

3/12 UPDATE:

Jax, his name for now, is still recovering at the emergency vet clinic. They spent 2 hours working on this boy last night, but we are hopeful he is going to be ok.

In addition to the already known hip dislocation, his front leg is fractured in 2 places, and his white blood cell count is elevated.
He has been kept stable overnight on IV antibiotics, fluids, and pain medications.

He will remain at the emergency vet clinic for the remainder of the day in order to manage his pain relief, as his level of pain is not yet suitable for oral medication.

We are expecting a bill in excess of $3000, which was the estimate last night before it was decided he would have to spend today there too. Please consider making a donation! We are a very small non-profit operating on a shoe-string budget. We are not a licensed dog rescue group who can choose to take on a dog or not - this was not a choice but we would not have it any other way. We need this boy to get the best care available.

He's safe!!!!

As we type this he is on his way to V.E.G in Alpharetta to receive emergency treatment, ensuring he is stabilized and no longer in pain. This treatment cost will be covered by Animal Institute.

This has been a rollercoaster of emotions. Knowing he was out there but not knowing if he had succumb to his injuries was torture, every single minute!

3/7 She is safe!

After 9 days on the run and in hiding this girl is finally back with her new owners. 🎊

On March 6th, at 4 minutes before midnight, just before the hour of magic ended, she entered the trap.

We want to give a HUGE thanks to Nancy and Raymer, who without their unfaltering hard-work and commitment this girl would never have been found. They truly are the 'real-life' heroes, and have given this story the happily ever after this dog deserves.

This baby doesn't even have a name yet. She didn't even get to make it into her new home. On Feb 27th she got spooked, backed out of her collar, and took off. She just 3 months of age!! 😭

To make matters worse she is terrified, we assume she never received that critical socialization that puppies need.

It is observed that numerous canines departing from county shelters appear joyful in 'freedom ride' photographs, and this should be a cause for celebration. However, it begs the question: how many of these dogs are securely fastened in crates, carriers, or seatbelts? Unfortunately, the answer is dismally low.

Let’s not ‘save’ these precious lives from certain death inside a shelter only for them to end up dead on the roadside!

2/15 UPDATE:

Sosie is said to be stable but not out of the woods yet. By some miracle she does not have any broken major bones. Her cheek is fractured, several broken teeth, and (hopefully temporary) damage to her left eye.

Sosie will be transferred to Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital ICU for further examination and round the clock care, and will remain there for the next few days.

Early hours of this morning a sighting was reported of Sosie in the very high traffic area of N Druids Hill Rd and I-85. Sadly, this was followed by confirmation that Sosie had been hit by a car, and a good samaritan had taken her to an emergency animal hospital, where she is currently in critical condition.

Sosie is a beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog that was rescued from a puppy mill. She is VERY skittish and therefore unlikely to approach anyone for help. We need to find her quickly.

Sosie escaped from her foster home on January 10th, just hours after arriving. There have been a couple of *possible sightings of her since, close to the Zonolite Park.
*These sightings may or may not have been her.

We are SO thrilled to tell you that, after being lost for 6 weeks, Pretzel is finally back home with her family! 🎆🎊

Pretzel was so excited to see her family tonight, she was literally howling with joy. Look how happy she is to be home surrounded by her pack!

Thank you to the lady that called in to let us know where she was tonight, and to the lady who caught her on Ring video the other week. You were both directly responsible for saving this girl's life.

How did we find out where she was? SIGNS!!! Could we have got her home sooner? YES!!! Paulding County Department of Transportation do not allow us to place our signs in the right of way. This is where they need to be so they can be seen by passing traffic. After 5 weeks of this poor dog being out there we decided to risk being fined and put signs out. THIS is when we got the sightings we needed to finally bring her home.

No drone, no tracking dog, no reward, just SIGNS, SIGNS, SIGNS!

2/3 UPDATE: 🆘 We REALLY need your help! 🆘

We are approaching 1 month of Pretzel being missing with ZERO sightings :'(

Paulding Department of Transport have a zero tolerance policy for signs, and will not even allow us to temporarily put up lost dog signs, that's why we need everyone's help to get the message out there, FAR and WIDE.

PRETZEL needs to be found, we need sightings.

Sadly, it is possible that she was hit by a car or even a train, as the train tracks run close to her home. However, both GA and Paulding departments of transport do NOT keep a log of deceased pets that have been picked up, and they do not check for a microchip. We believe this needs to be changed! Families deserve closure. But that's a fight for another day.

If you have seen Pretzel, or remember seeing a dog lying on the side of a road, in or around the area shown on the map, then please reach out to us. She has been missing since January 8th.

It's cold outside! Help your neighborhood strays and wildlife find shelter in these frigid temperatures.

This is a dog igloo stuffed with an $8 bale of wheat straw and a tarp over its top. An exposed animal can easily dig into its insulating mass, which will capture its own body heat to hold the warmth - just like wearing a winter coat.

If don't have these materials, don't give up. Time to be creative! A pet carrier or other makeshift container will do. Hay will do if wheat straw is not available. Unfortunately, blankets and towels become moist from the air and thus freeze themselves. Anything that doesn’t absorb moisture might be an insulator.

Leave open your garage door, tool shed, barn, or other existing outdoor enclosure.

I was willing to endure a few minutes of 19°F so that a desperate exposed animal doesn't have to suffer all night long. Won't you? Please be proactive!

Offering a reward for a lost dog is something we do NOT recommend for reasons that are explained in this article.
However, on the RARE occasions where information is received, fact checked, AND proved to be credible, then we may offer a ‘reward for information’.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share very sad news about little Maggie. 💔

She was found, deceased, not far from where she was last sighted. We believe that Maggie passed not too long after she was last seen.
No other animals were involved in her passing.

Our thoughts are with the Owens family as they process their loss, which has come at an already highly emotional and stressful time for them. RIP sweet Maggie, you were loved by so many.

Maggie has now been missing for 9 days and there has not been a single sighting of her since the day she escaped.

We did, however, receive information from a credible WITNESS that a dog matching Maggie’s description was seen being placed into a vehicle by a young man. The following information has not been released until now in the hopes that if someone did pick Maggie up that they would have returned her. As this is not the case then we feel this information needs to go public:

Friday Jan 5th around 9pm
Location: End of driveway at 592 Heyward Circle NW (house currently under construction)
This location is just a stone’s throw from the last reported sighting of Maggie, that evening
The young man, believed to be in his teenage years, was wearing a baseball cap and a pair of shorts
There was another young man with him, also wearing a baseball cap
Possibly a dark colored mid-size SUV
The dog was on a PINK leash
Another vehicle (description not known) was parked nearby. The young man was seen to approach this other car to talk to the occupant/s

If you know of anyone that was in this area at or around the specified time, if you saw something, or if you are the young man described above, then please reach out. There may be a perfectly plausible explanation.

We are aware that there were a lot of people out searching for Maggie that evening.

We do not want people searching on foot, calling for her, or trying to 'catch' her. Doing so will only push her further away, possibly deeper into the national park where she could encounter predators, or into traffic.
She has already been chased down, cornered, and has evaded capture on several occasions.

Her leash is material and therefore if caught up on something she would be able to chew her way through the leash, or maybe slip out of her collar.

If you are driving through the area or out walking trails this weekend then please be vigilant. If you see her please call the number immediately and speak to Stacey. Stacey and several others has been briefed on what needs to be done if she is sighted.

Her human daddy is very sick in hospital at this time, so let's work together to make sure his little girl is safe at home when he returns.
