It's been a difficult couple of weeks here as we sadly lost Willow the same day as our first litter was born.

Yesterday we said goodbye to Bloom, she was a very special girl. Thank you Wildflower Rats for these girls ❤️

The first Kirkyard litter was born on Friday- a tiny litter of 3. Sadly we lost 2 but we have 1 survivor.
Mum has been brilliant, she did not leave the nest, has been very attentive and protective of her little one.

I was debating sharing this but I can't not acknowledge how our first litter has gone. It's not what you expect to happen when starting out, all of the emotions involved not just for us humans but for mum too. Luckily Eve will be OK and is now back with her friends. There is so much more to breeding that you don't see, it has been a long stressful week here for us.

On the other side as a pet home, it's the excitement about getting kittens to bring home. You don't know what's going on with the breeder to get to that point where they have kittens to home out. I have an understanding now of how difficult this is which is something to think about for us going forward.

I'm grateful for the support of the breeders who have helped me to get to this point and that got us through this difficult week. Thank you ❤️

Eve's kitten has now joined another litter over at our friends at Mirkwood Rattery to get big and strong and to make some friends before coming back to us 🥰

Just a little update

The waiting list for Mirkwood Rattery, Mimble Rattery, Azarath Rattery and Kirkyard Rats is closed for now.
This is due to the sheer amount of pet homes we have to cater for.
We can’t always predict Mother Nature and currently don’t have the capacity to accept any more applicants.
Our current waiting times for kittens is now 6-12 months.

Please don’t worry if you’ve have applied before this post- we will still go over your application.

Waiting list applications will re-open later in the year, once we’ve had a chance to organise ourselves.
