Spaces available this Thursday the 27th, morning and afternoon, for online sessions if anyone fancies doing some training? 30, 45 & 60 minute slots available.
Photo for views 🥰 It’s also the answer to the question ‘why do people teach their dogs a stay command’…. So they can take photos of them of course! 3 dogs, three different staying positions, only one command needed!

Omg! What an amazing competing weekend for Creek Canines!

Not only my own dogs (Echo my beagle second in novice heelwork and (with a previous win) up to intermediate, Bakersfield 2nd in advanced freestyle qualifying for next years semifinals) but my amazing clients.

So many teams doing so well in the ring achieving personal goals, placings and even crufts semifinals qualifiers! Really well done guys I am so proud of you all! 😊

Special mentions though for regular clients
Peter Baden and Ramon for his starters heelwork win
Bev Lockett and Ford (one of our Jin/Skiffle pups all grown up) winning two novice heelwork at his first show and heading straight into intermediate!
Lorna Syrett and Nora for getting an advanced heelwork qualifier at their first advanced qualifier show (to go with their freestyle one)!

Well done guys!!

Wow what a response nearly 100 invites sent !! Zoom only lets me take 100 so hopefully we will get everyone in 🤞 see you all Sunday

🔥 FREE Getting started in freestyle and heelwork to music zoom🔥

Are you a beginner and want to start in this sport ?

Since Crufts I have received a lot of enquiries about how to get started in freestyle and HTM. So to help everyone who has contacted me I’m putting on a “learn the basics in freestyle “ interactive zoom training session this Sunday

Watching the advanced routines it can look daunting to start but there are several moves which are easy to start and get you thinking about performing a routine.

🔺 Date - 17th March

🔺 Time - 4pm

🔺 Duration - 45 mins

You will have the opportunity to have a go with your dog during the zoom, you do not need a large area just the size of a large rug.

The only qualification to attend this FREE zoom is that you have never competed so if that’s you private message me or comment below and I will send you the zoom link. This zoom will NOT be recorded so you will need to attend.

After a very successful European open Championships we are now back to work teaching our online sessions. Can you guess which dog always pushes the others out of the way when it’s time to demonstrate? 😊
We have spaces on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between now and the end of the year for either new regular online clients or just one off sessions. After your initial session these can be 30mins, 45mins, 1hr+
Plan your session how you want, anywhere that you can get phone signal to set up a camera for me to observe, works great. Work outside or hire a hall for routine practice; work in your home or garage for smaller trick practice, heelwork changes and confidence building exercises; or we can just do a sit down discussion, watch routine videos together and discuss what went well and what can be improved, it is totally up to you!
I can also arrange in person sessions, please ask for separate price list for this if you are interested as the price can include venue hire.

There were many fabulous results for the Creek Canines clients at the weekend but we just wanted to say a massive extra special well done to Maria Eddger and Sky for winning the intermediate heelwork. This pair have worked so hard and have improved so much in the time we have known them, we are so very proud of their achievement. Congratulations guys!

Well Crufts is over for another year and what a Crufts it’s been. First and foremost biggest congratulations to Creek Canines client Lorna Syrett and Nora. Third place in the freestyle at their very first Crufts with a fantastic score! Amazing! Well done both!
Bakersfield and the Collieflowers obreedience team strutted their stuff and looked absolutely fabulous (coming first in the heelwork section of the competition!).
Jingle was a little nervous of the big arena at Crufts at first but settled in and did a lovely round to finish 4th. Jin had qualified at only her 5th ever heelwork to music show and this was only her second advanced competition having qualified at her first so she will hopefully get more confident with more experience.
Echo the beagle was also at Crufts having been invited to join in with Richard’s heelwork to music and freestyle demo team. She loved every moment!
Hope you all enjoyed Crufts too. What were your best bits?

Great podcast on how the relationship between pain, gut health and the age puppies leave the mother can really influence behaviour in the adult dog

Dr. Amber Batson is my guest for the season finale of The Bitey End of the Dog, and what a way to top off the amazing line-up of experts this year!
This episode is packed with mind blowing insights from Dr. Batson on some hot topics including the connection between microbiomes and behavior, rethinking the puppy socialization windows, and even the controversial topic of diet and aggression.

And a very special thanks to all you who have listened to, shared or reviewed the podcast! Your support is greatly appreciated and truly motivates me to produce the show!

New challenge coming this Friday. I’d love to hear how your name challenges went, even if you didn’t get chance to film them!

New challenge!

Using the letters of your dog’s name, select the tricks from the list below. Rearrange those tricks into an order that you think will flow nicely. You can use one extra trick of your choice to help. If your dog has a long name (like Bakersfield) then just select a few letters so your routine doesn’t have to be too long!

Interpret the tricks however you wish, for example ‘circle’ could be round a leg, an arm, an object etc.

You have a few weeks for this challenge. There’s a Creek Canines rosette for the mini routine with the best flow. Good luck!

It’s a rainy day! Do something fun with your dog and have a go at the name challenge!

So the results are in.
The photos were sent to our independent judge (my mum). She said she loved all your photos and it was really hard to choose so she looked at the artistic side too.
Big congratulations to the winner Heather Negus. Our judge said she loved the effect of the texture of ground and the long shadow, which made the dog look almost like a peacock. PM us your address for your rosette and treats.
Second was Mary Ann Nester with an ‘impressive trick’
Third was Helen Glass for the long shadow and nice composition.

Congratulations all.

Remember to get your name trick challenge in for next weeks rosette.

Mini fun Challenge!

Keeping freestyle fun we are going to be setting some mini challenges over the next few weeks. Your first one...

A. I love shadows so your mini challenge this week is to take a picture of your dog’s shadow in a dog dancing pose. You can include yourself in the picture but it’s not obligatory. You can use a lamp light or the sun if it’s shining near you!
B. Mini, mini challenge... Which dog is which in the shadow pictures below?

You have a week to get your picture in.

Wake up!
It’s time to emerge from our hibernation so:

Would anyone be interested in a live, real person freestyle, tricks and heelwork to music workshop in July/August. This would be on a Friday. Dates to be confirmed with the venue.
If so would you prefer:
A. a more leisurely day workshop 10am-3pm with time to chat and a group of 10 and an optional questions session til 4pm
or
B. an intense 3hr session with only 5 handlers. 9:30-12:30 or 1pm-4pm
