Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated this momentous holiday with us! 😊 Happy Juneteenth ✨
in 1865, General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, TX to read Order No. 3, which affirmed the end of slavery in the states of the former Confederacy. This momentous occasion has been celebrated as — a combination of “June” & “19th” — for over 150 years.

In 2022, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported just 2.2% of practicing veterinarians identify as Black or African American compared to 90% White. Meanwhile internal data report for the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges(AAVMC) in 2022 revealed that 3.6% of 13,952 total students enrolled at US colleges of veterinary medicine are Black/African - American. This Black History Month we celebrate not only those who have paved the way for current students but those who are currently paving the way for the future.

Happy founders day to 🥳 Today marks 2 years since the chapter was created. ❤️ Since then the club has hosted numerous events on campus and on island, created new unique merchandise used for fundraising, and has had many guest speakers share their personal experiences. Thank you to the founding brothers and sisters for creating a safe space for black/brown future veterinarians. Thank you to the current board members that strive to keep the legacy alive and active on campus. ❤️ 2 years down and many more to go.
