Going on vacation and leaving your aquarium at home? 🤔

One of the things you should do before you leave is… install an aerator in the tank. Why? This way the fish will be swimming in water with the right oxygen level, which is crucial for their health and well-being. In addition, the aerator can act as a safety device in case of failure of the filter, which apart from aerating the water also purifies it. In short: you minimize the risk of your fish being deprived of oxygen.

Vacation is one thing, but just because you’re not home doesn’t mean life in your aquarium is going to be put on hold all of a sudden ⏸💦

The circadian rhythm stops for nothing and it’s good to make sure that it’s constant, also in the tank. In this case, timers and adjustable lighting to mimic the day and night cycle in the aquarium can be very helpful 🌞🌝

Or you can always choose to keep up with the times and opt for remote, app-controlled lighting. Remember that the circadian rhythm is important for keeping your fish healthy and well, and lighting is one of the main factors that determine it 💡

An aquarium is hardly something that’s easy to take anywhere 🤷

However, you often do have to somehow reconcile this fact with the desire to go on a trip – for example, on vacation 🌴 But how can you take care of the safety and health of the inhabitants of your aquarium while you are away? 🧐

These tips will surely prove helpful:
1️⃣ Do not install any new equipment in the aquarium shortly before you leave 🆕
2️⃣ Ask someone to come over and feed the fish while you are away, keeping in mind that the frequency of feeding varies depending on the species of fish 🐟
3️⃣ This piece of advice connects directly to the previous one - install an automatic feeder, as this will make you more independent 😎
4️⃣ Weekend or holiday feed can also be an interesting solution 🐠
5️⃣ Make sure the aquarium lighting regularly cycles on and off. Your absence should not affect the conditions in the tank! 💡
6️⃣ Change the water in the tank just before going away 💦
7️⃣ Install a standalone aerator to ensure an independent source of water aeration if the filter fails, as oxygen means life and is needed at all times.
8️⃣ Probably the most important thing is for you to be able to rest or relax peacefully – no need to worry! Everything will work out fine as long as you think responsibly about leaving the tank when planning on going away.

Aquarists know that a critical stage of work that requires access to the interior of the filter is usually the disconnection of the inlet and outlet hoses from the device 🙆‍♂️ The water left in the filter usually spills out onto the floor, which can be frustrating 😩

➡ To spare you this, we have developed a proprietary system of double ball valves. They simultaneously close the inlet and outlet of the filter in the lid and the hoses and block the uncontrolled escape of water 💦

One of the main advantages of external filters is that they do not take up space in the aquarium, so we can fully enjoy nature 🐟💦

Another important feature is the ability to configure the filter media according to your needs. And here comes the ➡ Aquael Multi Kani ⬅️ which meets both of these conditions, and at the same time allows to limit the size of the filter as much as possible, when we do not need it to be expanded. It also works the other way – the greater the needs, the more media we can add 😏
