Maxine, like all of our rescues, is spending two weeks in a foster home quarantined from other rabbits. Thanks to our foster's bunny cam, we know the exact time that Maxine became a free-roaming rabbit, at least for the remainder of the night.

I spent 8 hours today trying to trap Lil' Black Bunny Bobbi(e) White Sox, which culminated in this harrowing, excruciatingly tense, but ultimately thrilling 3 minute movie. Bobbi(e) made a 5-second appearance when I arrived at 10AM and set four traps. S/he popped 'round again at noon and spent 15 minutes sunning him/herself between my traps before disappearing again. At 5:45PM, Bobbi(e) popped out of the shrubs and again marched out into the lawn, oblivious of the traps. Finally, she caught wind of the bunch of cilantro hanging from the back of one of the traps, and she tripped the trigger about 5 minutes later, just before 6PM.
I've been using live traps for about 10 years now, and I don't recall anybunny jumping ON the trap before. I had this set with a "hare" trigger, and I was afraid Bobbi(e) was going to trip the latch with his/her gymnastics. I'm glad everything went according to plan, eventually.
Yesterday we picked up new mama Samantha Bunny (Sam B) and her six babies from DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital. Sam was found somewhere in Washington County and brought in to DoveLewis VERY pregnant in and distress. The wonderful staff at DoveLewis cared for Sam through her delivery and then transferred the new mama and her kits to us the next day. Sam is a great mom and a very friendly (and ravenous!) bunny.
Your financial contributions let us continue to rescue and care for rabbits like Sam B. Please click the DONATE button at the top of the page to help us help our rescued rabbits.
Huey is the largest of the rabbits we rescued yesterday. He and his siblings are getting formula to supplement their diet. Huey lost a little weight overnight, so we encouraged him to take more formula than the others. We'll nurse the kits for another week or two, which is when their mother would normally wean them.

Feeding Baby Stewie, the smallest of the four kits we rescued yesterday. At 135 grams, Stewie is less than half the size of his larger siblings. He's got a good appetite, though, and polished off almost 9 mL of formula and diet supplement last night, and another 11 mL this morning. We hope that Stewie soon catches up in weight and condition to his siblings.

Hippity Hop, Huey!
UPDATE: Turns out, this was CHEWIE hippity-hopping on Saturday. We finally caught him/her this morning, and s/he has joined the fluffle of four siblings.
Yesterday we rescued four baby bunnies and their dad. Here's the largest of the kids, Huey, running free before his capture.
When we rescued "Ashley" this morning, she wasn't moving and seemed cold. We gave her a little warm Sherwood Recovery formula to stimulate her appetite and boost her activity level.
We rescued Krystal today (Sunday) in Gresham on the Springwater Corridor. It's hard to say how long she's been out there; her rex coat is soft and clean, suggesting she was just recently dumped, but the extensive web of trails and tunnels she's constructed suggest she's been out there quite a while. We thought we were going to help catch her and then transfer her to another rescue, but she ended up coming home with us. Krystal needs a 2-week quarantine home, and then a long-term foster home. If you can foster short- or long-term for us, please fill out our foster application at https://tinyurl.com/RCRR-Foster-Form.
Lenna is happy to eat her Sherwood Recovery Food straight from the bowl, but if we add a little intensive care supplement then she insists on being syringe-fed. The trick is to fed her fast enough that she doesn't chew on the syringe tip. We've had to retire 3 syringes so far, once after just a couple of minutes of use! No worries, we're happy to see her eating so enthusiastically. And just look at that little tongue go!

When we got Lenna, she was starving to death and couldn't lift her head on her own. Here she is 3 days later, devouring yet ANOTHER bowl of Sherwood Recovery Food (donated by the great folks at Sherwood; thanks!). She's packed on a pound so far, and shows no signs of stopping.
We rescued these two young buns that were abandoned along a Forest Service Road way up in the foothills of the Mount Hood National Forest. We'll be back tomorrow to rescue at least two more!
We had to evacuate some of our foster rabbits on Sunday from the #NakiaCreekFire, after it blew up and increased 10-fold in size in a single day! Fortunately, we were able to reach to friends to TEMPORARILY relocate our fostered rabbits.
The #Oxbuns were among the rabbits we evacuated. The 10 young "Oxbow Bunnies" were found along with their probable dad, Walter White, and probable moms, Janet and Mama Cass, abandoned and running free on a high-speed stretch of road just outside of Oxbow Park. After we rounded up all thirteen REWs and Californians, we found Bessie nearby, possibly a survivor of a different dump. This is the first time the Oxbuns have been reunited in over a year, and the first time all 14 rabbits have been together since we rescued them in June of 2021.
We need your financial support so that #RoseCityRabbitRescue can continue to rescue and care for abandoned and at-risk rabbits, be it a single dumped bunny or an entire extended family like the Oxbuns. You can make a tax-deductable donation through our FaceBook page, via PayPal (https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=FJKPZLGG3Y5J2), or with a check made out to Rose City Rabbit Rescue and mailed to PO Box 6373, Beaverton, OR 97007.

Hay, everybunny! We're desperately looking for quarantine homes for the six abandoned rabbits we rescued a few days ago. Please let us know if you can foster Rex, Cotton & Candy, or Bing, Bang, & Boom for the next two weeks in your bunny-free home. We will provide ALL of the supplies in exchange for a safe space in your home or temperature-controlled garage.
DONATIONS NEEDED FOR STEWART'S VET BILLS
This sweet but tough little guy is Stewart. Stewart is recuperating from an operation to clean and drain an abscess in the ear (an all-too-common condition in lop-eared breeds). Stewart was likely already deaf in this ear, but he certainly is following the surgery, and he now has a permanent hole in his skull to aid in draining any fluid from the ear. Stewart has remained remarkably upbeat despite having to wear a protective cone collar, and being subjected (twice daily) to the tedious and painful chore of having the wound repeatedly flushed of any baterial buildup and then packed with antibiotic cream. Stewart will chatter his teeth to tell us when the pain is excrutiating and he's had more than enough, but when we stop he will lick us as we carry him back to his pen, as if to forgive us for the pain we caused in trying to make him better.
Stewart's life-saving surgery cost $2000, in a month where we had already spent $3000 for vet bills to cover spays, neuters, vaccinations, and other "routine" veterinary care and diagnostics. We hope you can contribute to the veterinary fund for Stewart and our other rescued rabbits. Every donation in any amount will be appreciated, and make it financially easier for us to save and improve the lives of rabbits like Stewart. Thank you!
If you click the DONATE button at the top of this page, 100% of your donation through FaceBook will go to paying the vet bills for Stewart and our other rescued rabbits. You can also donate through PayPal in memory of our founder and mentor Mary Marvin: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=SRFDX8KF8F8VY

Peter and Roscoe were both dumped in the country and found in open fields. These little kiddos wouldn't have had a chance against a hawk or coyote. Peter was found first, and Roscoe was rescued about a week later. They are both intact males, and get along great MOST of the time. They've been quarantined and are now in need of a foster home to nurture them until and after they've been neutered. We're hoping that these bunny buddies remain bonded. If you're interested in fostering Peter and Roscoe, or ANY of our rescued rabbits, please complete our Foster Parent Application Form at https://tinyurl.com/RCRR-Foster-Form.
