It's World Bee Day!

No, they are not honey bees, these are mason bees! Mason bees are native, solitary pollinators. They get their name from the mud they use to seal up their nests after laying their eggs. They don't sting unless seriously threatened, so if you see them around, say hi!

Spring is finally here! Flowers are blooming and bees are flying.

Crocus are one of my favorite flowers and they are the first to pop up in our yard every year. I could sit outside all day and watch the bees work the flowers 🐝🌷

Now if we could just get some warm weather to stick around...

Once we got into beekeeping we discovered we had a surplus of honey. Of course we cook with it, but there is only so much cooking and baking one can do. We needed something else, and what better use for honey than mead!

Here is just a sample of some of the meads we have made: Rhubarb, Apple Cider, Raspberry, Coffee, Cherry, Pumpkin Pie, and an original.
