Hi,

If any of my current clients are thinking of upping their walks. So for example you have 1 regular walk a week and you know in the near future, you need to up this to 2 / 3 + walks - let me know!!

I don’t want to turn away new customers if I have slots available but if current clients need extra walks then you get first priority.

I hope this makes sense.

Secrets of a Dog Walker

1. It's a lifestyle, not just a job. If you're in it for the money you've made a big mistake because a) you're never going to be rich, end of story; and b) you won't survive your first winter if that's your only motivation. We see these people come and go from time to time.

2. We talk to each other more than you might think. About the best walking boots, what clothing we are wearing for today's weather, our financial struggles, the traffic, dodgy men in the woods, fallen trees, etc. It's a lonely job but we have each other's backs from a distance. 🥰

3. We don't physically have eyes in the backs of our heads but we know so well the sound of every jingle of every ID tag, and every dog's individual footfall on the ground behind us, we may as well have. We also know which puddle they’ll head for. Which trees they like to drink from, what their noises mean and when they’ll do a p**p!

4. We can't physically see round corners either, but we know so well each leading dog's body language in reaction to an oncoming person and/or dog that we may as well be able to.

5. We hear "Are they all yours?!" and "Wow you've got your hands full" at least twice a day, but we always smile and say "They keep me on my toes". Every. Single. Time. The one that gets me is “aren’t they behaving well” - NEVER say that!! It’s just a jinx 😂 I guarantee you, after you’ve passed, they’ll play up!!!

6. It actually breaks our heart when a dog moves out of our area, and we thoroughly investigate our replacement for our own peace of mind, even if the client hasn't asked us to.

7. If you peel back a few layers of clothing (depending on the season) you will find bruises, scratches and scrapes covering the whole of our bodies. Don't bother asking where they came from, we have no idea.

8. If you see a dog walker looking vaguely presentable on a weekday, you should send help, something is not right.

9. We love our clients' dogs as we do our own and will sometimes lie awake at night worrying about their injuries, illnesses, and behaviour problems. We can't help it after spending so much time with them. It hurts us when clients don't appreciate this.

10. Despite the financial uncertainty, the harsh winters, the blood, sweat and tears, it really is the best job in the world 🥰

🚨 Morning everyone 🥶

It is currently minus 3 with a ‘feel like’ temperature of minus 5 because of wind, it is too cold to be out walking dogs at the moment.
But I will hopefully be starting collections at normal time today and once I start my first walk the temperature should be a little higher 🤞🏼

There have been reports of vets in chesterfield having dogs come in with frostbite / hypothermia and we definitely do not want this so I need to mindful about the temperature - Please leave coats and jumpers if you have them!

I may have to reduce walk times today so dogs aren’t out in the cold weather for too long but I’ll judge this once we are out and about and make a decision.

I need to keep an eye on the temperature & conditions and go from there as the health & safety of your dogs is my number 1 priority 🚨‼️

❄️📢 Weather Alert 📢❄️

Hello everyone,
Just a quick heads-up about the chilly weather we are going to be getting overnight. 🥶

This may or may not affect my schedule and workday, but I’m keeping a close eye on the weather and road reports. 🛣️

I'll make sure to update everyone at around 7:30 AM / 8 AM with any potential delays or changes to my schedule.
Hopefully I’ll be working as normal and everything will be running smoothly but I need to make sure me and the dogs are safe and that’s the main priority.

If you could also let me know how the roads are looking near you in the morning, that would be super helpful.

What an absolute gem she was today, still fairly young but we did some practice recall and she was great 🌟 she will be starting group walks very soon!

Christmas week! 🌟

This is my last week until I break up for Christmas, I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone for all the support this year 🎄✨♥️

To come back from maternity leave to all my lovely clients and dogs really was special and S40 Dog Walking has gained some beautiful new dogs and lovely clients too - I’m feeling very lucky! 🍀

We have our Christmas jumper/outfit prize draw at the end of this week and someone will be winning a £20 Gift Voucher for and a Bottle of Prosecco!!! This will be a prize draw for anyone who enters as I won’t be able to choose a winner so picking out of a hat is how that will work😂 but you’ve got to be in it to win it!! 🎁

Looking forward to a new year and seeing what 2025 has in store. I hope all my followers, clients, friends and family have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy new year 🥳🎄♥️✨
