This beautiful mama welcomed 7 big pups in September 2022. Felony is a dog who is apart of our Guardian Home program and both her, her guardian and I were shocked when a freak accident occurred when she returned with her Guardian. We have been blessed to have such wonderful guardians over the years but to say the least has put in some blood sweat and tears for us and our girl.

Felony tore cranial cruciate ligaments (CCL) in both of her rear legs last winter. Showing light lameness in her one rear leg at first we her in for numerous x-rays and for us to speak with the top specialists. She has undergone 2 TPLO surgeries (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy) along with 24/7 care & extensive rehab. Each step in her recovery her guardian took with ease amongst all the stress and we couldn’t be anymore grateful.

Unfortunately, the condition leading to CCLR is often present in both knees, and about 30- 50% of dogs will rupture both CCLs within 1-2 years of each other. Tears to the CCL don’t ALWAYS required surgery and there are other preventative measures to aid it from a full rupture however, the ligament will continue to weaken and the joint will become increasingly unstable. Eventually, the ligament will likely rupture completely and lameness will not improve with rest. Sadly with this breed the excessive weight they carry makes them more likely to tear as their structure isn’t meant to carry the weight of the standards of this breed. It is more rare for the CCL to tear with trauma as veterinary surgeons are speaking out about the prevalence seen in the deterioration of the ligaments due to the ‘weathering’ on these joints with the American Bully Size.

Fast forwarding to date our robo dog has surpassed her expectations as we were told she’d most likely lose 20% of mobility in her rears. This girl just didn’t slow down and is back swimming, Hiking and being loved by everyone she meets.

After all this hard work and dedication our girl will be retired from our breeding program. She will join a few shows for fun but will be spayed and enjoy the remaining of her life being loved by her family and us here at GEK.

2 first places in class, 2 best male in variety, best of breed, best of winners and 2nd place in companion category.

We are beyond proud of our boy- a GEK production and could not have been anymore blessed with all the love and support we got from our peers ❤️

Here at GEK our guardian home owners take on a lot of responsibility. They are held to a high standard and fulfill every obligation with ease and without question. THEY ARE FAMILY!

This past weekend one our guardian family members was stabbed and rushed to the hospital where he had to undergo surgery. With recovery time, two daughters and dogs it is our turn to return the favour helping him and his family.

We understand money can be tight but any amount of donation is GREATLY APPRECIATED to ease the stress of his expenses during his recovery. We are hoping to eliminate as much stress as possible.

Huge thank you goes to for all his help when it comes to my handling techniques and training for my dogs this past year. I honestly don’t know what I’d do without you.

Arkham Asylum is coming along beautifully! She will definitely be one to watch come next years show season as she’s maturing like fine wine. With a little more training and consistency this gal will be a force to be reckoned with ❤️
