Our puppies are 7 weeks old and loving our warm weather! It was just a week ago that we got out of the deep freeze. Next week, they are ready to go into their new homes.

We would like to salute a very important little dog who passed away at age 17 plus years old in February. Charm (Ch. Kinwashkly Silver Charm) was an important part of our crew, and lived a great long life. I had selected a big, flashy marked female from our litter of 12 puppies born in 2007, but the day before people started coming for their puppies, I observed that the runt of the litter was both spunky and a better than average mover and changed my mind on who I was keeping. So Charm joined our team, and proved her worth by finishing her championship in the show ring and placed in many derby stakes by being that dog, the one who finds the most birds. Charm was the embodiment of the phrase of "meat dog", with a work ethic second to none. She hunted every second she was out there at top speed. She was also a great natural retriever. She made the breeding program, and here we kind of got a disappointment, as she was a very low fertility dog. She had a total of 10 living puppies out of 5 litters. However, those puppies were very good ones. She is the dam of

Mango has achieved a milestone title, the MACH, which is the Master Agility Championship. It entails earning 750 championship points, as well as 20 double qualifying scores in Masters Standard Agility Class and Master Jumpers with Weaves class. Mango also loves pheasant hunting in the fall. Her full name is MACH. Kinwashkly Gugin's Super Fruit, J.H. MXB MJS CGC TKN. She lives in Wisconsin with her owners, Jeff and Cassie Gugin. Congratulations on your great accomplishments with Mango! She is from the breeding of DC/AFC Kinwashkly JD's Super Hero and Ch. Kinwashkly Single White Female.

Our puppies are three weeks old now and enjoying their first meal out of a dish. They are growing like weeds! All of them have homes to go to, and some of them are going to make appearances at field trials, tests and dog shows. We are looking forward to watching them grow up.

Winter has been long and boring in the north country! We are looking forward to spring, with more training opportunities and a few field trials. Meanwhile, we are enjoying a litter of 6 puppies sired by DC/AFC Kinwashkly Roe, FDJ, pictured here. Roe is owned by Natalie Yarema, Calgary, Alberta.

Kinwashkly Astra Straight Outa Krypton, call name "Super" made his adult field trial debut at the January Alamo Brittany Club trials. He made it around clean in both the Open and Amateur Gun Dog stake, and was 3rd in the 19 dog AGD. The following weekend, Super placed 2nd in the Open Gun Dog at the Northern Oklahoma Brittany Club, with 4 clean finds. He is 2.5 years old, out of our breeding of DC/GFC Almaden's Under Lock and Key ex Ch. Kinwashkly By A Mudslide. Super is owned by Shawn MacLeod and Amanda McGavin, and lives in Texas. Shawn handles Super in the field. We look forward to watch him develop in the future.

"Porter" was a puppy from our May 2018 breeding of DC/AFC Kinwashkly JD's Super Hero ex Ch. Kinwashkly Single White Female. At two months old, he joined his new owners, Mel and Cheryl Nelson, at their home in Minnesota. The plan was for Porter to be Mel's pheasant hunting dog, and it was off to a great start that same fall. Porter had lots of natural ability and with each season, he got better and better. During his fourth season of hunting, tragedy struck, when Mel and his friend Jeff were killed by a drunk driver, leaving Cheryl and Porter grief stricken. Eventually, they picked up the pieces and found a new life in Florida. Porter was introduced to the sport of barn hunting in the past month and has rapidly become a star in that game. He has a new job! Porter's registered name is Kinwashkly Border Bandit, RATI.

In with the new (year)...young Hatch from our litter of 14 born to Ch. Kinwashkly Buffalo Gal last May, is practising letting his owner flush the pigeon while he points. Hatch is owned by Natalie Yarema, and was her pick to join dad, DC/AFC Kinwashkly Roe, FDJ and her at their home in Calgary, Alberta. Hatch will go to field trials and dog shows next spring...watch for Kinwashkly Batten Down the Hatches.

Happy New Year! Out with the old, in with the new! Speaking of old, here is Charm, celebrating her 18th Christmas, with a nap under the tree. Charm (Ch. Kinwashkly Silver Charm) was born December 15, 2007 from a breeding of DC/AFC Kinwashkly Smoking Hank, FDX ex Ch. Kinwashkly Lucky Star. Charm was a field trial and show dog for a short while in her youth, a superb hunting dog, and mother to some outstanding puppies. Eleven years ago, she got her most important job, raising my two grandchildren, who are now teenagers. Although she mostly sleeps, mealtime is still the highlight of her day.

"Reba" has had a busy fall season, completing her Junior Hunter title, and running in field trials as a puppy and derby. She won the puppy stake at the North Virginia Brittany Club and also has placed in several derby stakes at all breed trials with multiple finds each time. She is now working on steady to wing and shot training so she can compete as an adult. She will be back to shows and eventually field trials, once her owner/handler, Brittany Lloyd, recovers from knee surgery. Reba is registered as Kinwashkly Britt's Lil Miss Here's Your One Chance Fancy J.H. CGN TKN and is from the repeat breeding of NGDC/NAWGDC/NAGDC/GFC/FC/GAFC/AFC Magnum High Velocity and Ch. Kinwashkly French Blaze.

We are having a very active hunting season this year, to the benefit of our 13 month old Harley. He has steadily improved all month, and his last hunt included the light bulb moment for him---if he holds point until someone flushes the bird for him, it can be shot and retrieved. He is a happy boy when he is out in the field! Harley's registered name is Kinwashkly High Velocity Harley, a son of NGDC/NAGDC/NAWGDC/NWGDC/GFC/GAFC/FC/AFC Magnum High Velocity ex Ch. Kinwashkly French Blaze. Harley has show points and puppy and derby wins/placements.

"Fergus" had a good weekend at the Medicine Hat Kennel Club shows in October. In four shows with large entries, he took two Best of Breeds, and two select wins. Under judge Wendy Paquette, he went on to Group 2nd (pictured) and the next day, placed Group 4th with judge Darla Hecke. Fergus loves the show ring! Fergus is owned and handled by Julie Ross from Brandon, Manitoba. His registered name is GCh. Kinwashkly The Final F Word, FDJ, RN, PCD, CGN from the breeding of DC/GCh. Sovereign's Chasing Legends and Ch. Kinwashkly Buffalo Gal. After the shows, Fergus spent several days bird hunting in Alberta.

Our litter of 9 puppies from Indy and Mudslide are 7 weeks old. They go into new homes next week! This week they got microchipped, dewormed and a trip to the vet for first shots. There might be a male available to the right home....

Indy and Mudslide's 9 puppies are 4 weeks old today. They get to have a play time outside on warm days, not wild creatures quite yet, but they are on their way....

We have had two litters of dual champion sired puppies to raise this summer and they have been a lot of fun and a lot of work. Several have already gone into their new homes. We do have a male puppy looking for a home. These will be the last puppies I can possibly sell into the United States as August 1st, the CDC will not allow dogs under 6 months of age to cross the border.

Our litter born January 7th is already learning to eat from a dish. Our cat, Bruce, approves of the cuisine!

Agility is a fast growing sport that is popular with spectators. Brittanys make great agility dogs since they are athletic, intelligent and highly trainable. This video is of "Mango", Kinwashkly Gugin's Super Fruit, JH NAJ NA MJP OAJ AX OA MX MJB MXB, owned by Jeff and Cassie Gugin from Wisconsin. The ten sets of letters behind Mango's name are all titles earned with a different set of requirements. The JH stands for Junior Hunter earned in AKC pointing dog hunt tests. Mango also has derby points in AKC field trials. The rest of the letters are for different levels of agility tests that she has aquired. The latest title, MXB, stands for Master Bronze Agility, requires 25 passing scores of 100 at the Master Agility level. That is some kind of dedication to training and trialing! It is also something that looks like a whole lot of fun for the dog and handler. Mango is a daughter of DC/AFC Kinwashkly JD's Super Hero and Ch. Kinwashkly Single White Female.
