Dear Karoo Cat House Friendz - I would like to say a BIG BIG THANK YOU to my Friend (and Sister from another Mother), Madalene Buys, who made a generous donation to the Catz today! Sus, Thank You so much for being a Cat Angel today, and also being a Cat Angel behind the scenes as well! I really appreciate your donation today (and other times) very much and it will go towards wet and dry food for the Catz. You are our Star and Angel. Madalene lives in Kenhardt in the Northern Cape and she is a Mom to Catz, Dogz, Chickens, Sheep, Parrots and various other Birds. The pic below was taken in 2021 when Madalene had her Cat, Sannie, at the Tulbagh Animal Clinic. Dr Ivan van Wyk operated on Sannie after her jaw was broken when a dog attacked her. Poor Sannie was in a bad state but has healed completely. Sannie's real name is Mickey but somehow it became Sannie over the years 🤣 Sannie was a little stray in Kenhardt some years ago and Madalene adopted her. She used to go with Madalene in the big bakkie wherever Madalene went but now she has become "A stay at home Cat" 😂 She is one of 3 Catz and thinks that she is the boss. Poor Vlooi and Fur Elize have to make sure they stay out of her way otherwise she gives them a "klap" or two 🤣🤣 Madalene is also the other admin on this page and if something happens to me, she will let you guys know. Dear Karoo Cat House Friendz - Related to my previous post where I am asking for donations, I would like to thank my old friend from the 70's, Tania Wiehahn Herweg, for her generous donation for the Catz today. Tania, THANK YOU so very much for thinking of us and helping the Catz!! You are truly a Cat Angel! Your donation will go towards wet and dry food for the Catz which I will go and buy this afternoon. We really appreciate you!!......As I was feeding the Catz and Dog outside just now, a local Lady (not sure if I can mention her name) drove past and stopped to give me a tin of cat food! I was so surprized and so thankful!!! She said it's not much but she hopes it helps - whereupon I said it is a lot and it will help tremendously!! Thank you Lady for being a Cat Angel and helping us in this way!! I really appreciate it!! Friendz, below are some of the Feralz I feed at my 3 feeding stations in town every day. Aren't they gorgeous?? ❤️ As you can see they are healthy and happy - which would not have been the case if I didn't feed them. They are very scared of people because people chase them away and throw rocks at them. I am lucky because they know and trust me and sometimes allow me relatively close to them. I have never been able to touch one of them though. By giving us donations you ensure that they too, have dry food and fresh water every day. I go there soaking wet in the rain or sunshine and never skip a day. Thank you to every Cat Angel who helps me feed the Catz here at The Karoo Cat House and those in town. Dogz also come and eat at the feeding stations in town, but I understand that they are hungry too and not cared for by their owners 😭 The Lady that was here earlier also feeds birds and a couple of Feralz near her house. Thank you for Caring for Those Who Do Not Speak Human Lady. We appreciate you. To my Friend Tania Wiehahn Herweg and this Lady - Thank You again for your help. We really appreciate you!! UPDATE!! - A BIG BIG BIG THANK YOU!! To an anonymous donor who gave a wonderful donation to the Catz late afternoon. Thank you so very much CAT ANGEL - we really appreciate it so much!! With that I could go and buy 3 x 4kg bags of Catmor dry food just before dark. That is enough to get us through till Monday!! I only had enough dry food for the Catz in town left for today and nothing for the Catz here, and through YOUR amazing donation everyone now has enough dry food till Monday!! Thank you again for assisting in a time of need. You are appreciated so much!! (END OF UPDATE) ......Dear Karoo Cat House Friendz - I can't believe it's Friday again! This post is a week late! I started not feeling well on Saturday morning with the left side of my face swelling up and terrible jaw pain, especially on the left side under my ear. Swelling under my left eye as well and other symptoms. Yesterday morning it felt like my jaw was dislocating on the left side and a huge bump formed under my left ear. I could not even chew properly as I could not close my jaw. Today it's feeling better but it was a rough week. Animal neglect and abuse of dogs were also brought to my attention and that took up quite some time to gather information and assist others in reporting it to the SPCA. Thank you to everyone who assisted! Plus crime has increased tremendously in town and criminals have been in my yard at night twice, that I know of, this week. They even broke into a place in the street behind me on Sunday afternoon while the people were at home. Stress is just mounting for me and my body is not happy anymore. I still can't find a job and financially I'm going down the drain fast. This brings me to the pic below. As you can see Dembe was guarding the food last Friday afternoon. The food was bought with Your Donations and I also bought more food during the week with the last of your donation money. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH to everyone who donated in order to help the Catz here. I really appreciate you so very much!! Don't know what I would have done without you! You truly are our Cat Angels! Thank you again for supporting us in this time of need. I am going into severe depression as I don't know if I will ever find another job and don't know what will happen in the near future. You can only try and stay positive for so long and then you start losing hope. If I may ask you, if there is anyone who would like to assist the Catz here, we would really really appreciate it please! I am asking for donations again please, if you are able, so that they can get more food. I am in need of dry food and tins for them. Shop costs have also gone up as the 10kg bags in the pic, are suddenly up with almost R20 a bag!! I nearly had a heart attack! If you are able to assist us - thank you so very very much!!

Dear Karoo Cat House Friendz - We would like to again say THANK YOU VERY MUCH for all your donations last Friday!!! I bought some much needed tinned food and milk (for those who drink it) yesterday, with some of the remaining money 💕💕 Yes, the Catz love the Husky tins too 🤣 We don't usuaĺly have much of a pet food variety in this town. So now they are sorted again for the next few days and there is enough dry food till about Friday. The Catz that prefer to drink more milk are the older ones who hardly have teeth left and only eat soft food. It has not been too cold here over the past few days but temperatures drop fast at night and then it gets real cold! The cold doesn't seem to stop the criminals though and they are active as usual 😒 The latest trend in town is where they break in and steal everything brass/copper. Even stripping antique brass beds of the brass!! 😡😡😡😡 Which of course destroys those beautiful beds completely and brings their value down to zero 👹😡😡 Seems like the Police haven't made any arrests yet either. 😒 The Catz are all fine at this point except for a few who have Snuffels and I'm treating them with the meds I got with YOUR donated money at the Vet last Friday ❤️ Thank you again!!! RIP Cisco - Thank you for the 8 years you spent with us. I rescued you and your 2 sisters, Annie and Cindy, drugged and in a white bag from the boot of a car in town. You were going to be put to sleep. You were all so confused and scared when I took you out of that bag in the safety of the spare room. I loved each one of you equally. Cindy first, and then Annie, crossed The Rainbow Bridge as the years went by. You were the last one left. Now all 3 of you are gone 😭😭😭 Fly High with your Sisters now, Cisco. You will always be in my ❤️❤️❤️

Dear Karoo Cat House Friendz - tonight some of us are high on Catnip! Below is a video of Huckleberry enjoying some and they want to thank You, our donors of yesterday, for the Catnip!! There was 1 packet (R34) left at the Vet and I decided to spoil them as they had not had it for a very long time. As you can see here your gift is a hit! Thank you very much!! It's freezing cold here at night and I'm sure some Catz are now too high on the Catnip to care 🤣🤣 Hope you and your Furriez are warm too. Dear Karoo Cat House Friendz - tonight my heart and soul is overwhelmed with all the kindness and love you showed to Cisco and I today. When I asked for donations to make up the R300 for diesel to take him to the vet in Colesberg, I wasn't even sure that someone was going to help with R10. I took a chance to ask, because that was all I could do. Tonight I can tell you that YOUR donations today came to the total of R3 000-00!!!!! I am in shock!!! I want to thank each and everyone of you who donated and shared my posts for making this happen!! Leen Den EXter & Tanya Williamson (our regular Cat Angels from Nelspruit), Marietjie Oosthuizen (my former colleague and friend from the SABC in Nelspruit), Tania Wiehahn Herweg (my childhood friend from the 70's in Somerset West), someone Special here in town and every other person who donated today and did it Anonymously or wanted to stay Anonymous - THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! I can't say thank you enough!! It all feels very unreal. Just when I started losing hope in humans this past week (after a local mean and nasty woman started sabotaging my 1 feeding station in town), you guys restored my hope for humankind again!!! - As per my previous post, Cisco crossed The Rainbow Bridge at Karoo Vet in Colesberg this afternoon 😭😭😭😭 When I made the appointment I had a feeling that this would be his last trip, but there is always hope. I tried to cling to that hope. But when Dr Charmaine said there was a huge tumor on his kidney, and made me feel it as well, I knew it was best for him to let him go. He was exhausted during the long drive there and I knew he was in pain. The pics below are of when we got home and some of his Friendz started saying Good Bye to him. Cisco is now in the lounge where more Friendz can spend time with him. I will lay him to rest in the garden tomorrow, next to Sammy who passed away on Sunday (as per a previous post) 😭😭😭😭 Today I spent about R900 for diesel and vet costs (as per my previous post). The remaining R2 100 will be kept for perhaps diesel money for around 2 more trips to the vet, should it be necessary. And the rest I will buy food for the Catz with when we start running out of food again in about a week's time. All you Cat Angels have made a massive difference in the lives of the Catz here today. I really don't know what I would have done without you!!! It is very difficult to try and survive after losing your job, and it's even more difficult if you have all these other mouths to feed as well!! I hardly sleep and some nights don't sleep at all because of stress. Searching for jobs constantly and sending out CV's is very stressful. Today you Cat Angels have taken a lot of stress off my shoulders. It's 10pm. I am still only on my 2nd cup of coffee for the day. No other fluids. It was a hectic day. I think I should finish this one now and make myself a cup of tea to start hydrating a bit. Thank you again to everyone who donated today! I wish I could give each of you a long hug tonight.
