The kitten distribution system does not discriminate. It chose this bunny rescue. A little lone baby under a dumpster. All cleaned up, safe, fed and flea free. This has been the year of babies for us. Welcome little one.

I’m not here to argue anything but it’s more of an awareness post. Sometimes the things we don’t want to see are the ones that we need to face head on. This is not a post targeting food choices and etc. This post is here though because there needs to be an awareness raised about proper animal care and the laws that apply to it. I strongly believe this is the breeder that sold Storm to a tourist at just 3-4 weeks old lying saying the rabbit was 2-3 months old. It IS ILLEGAL in the state of North Carolina to sell rabbits before the age of 8 weeks.
So why are you posting this???

Because the way to stop animal cruelty on the long run is to report when people do things that are illegal. The more of us who report the cruel actions of others the longer the paper trail and the possibility to stop these actions. In rescue there is immediate reward and long term reward. Without brave and strong people who fought before us many of the rights animals, children and women have today wouldn’t exist. If you see or suspect someone is acting illegally, like selling babies too soon, please report it. If you go to a store and they are selling animals in poor conditions or too young, report it. Never give money to a pet store or breeder in exchange for an animal. It only reinforces that they can make a profit off the suffering of these animals.

Also, NC state law states that animals including livestock need food, water and shelter. If they do not have these things and people claim that the rabbit is a pet, report it. Both livestock and pets under the law need to be provided food, water and shelter.

Together we can make a difference. We need to work together to do this. For too long the animal rights and welfare laws have been ignored and we can change that. If we don’t nothing will get better for them. Let’s fight hard to have the unheard represented by those of us that have a voice and a vote.

Pellets and chew toys such as bamboo sticks and palm bowls always needed and appreciated!
Also they love all the chewy boxes everything comes in.
The last couple times people donated Amazon was not cooperating and letting me scan and thank people. I am so grateful though. ❤️❤️❤️

Daisy came to me in the spring. She is as full of life, beauty and as soft as the petals on a Daisy. Her kind and gentle nature makes her the perfect candidate for many adoption scenarios. This handsome young sweet bunny came to me with three sibling after having been abandoned in horrible conditions. That never stopped any of them from being some of the cuddliest and gentle bunnies we ever met. That’s is how the litter was named after sweets. Cookie is the sweetest of them all.

I am very thorough when approving applications. My job is to find the best possible home for these bunnies. I do everything to make sure they are going to go to their happily ever after. They deserve that and I do not skip steps.

Never put two unaltered bunnies together. I don’t care who said it was ok. Even vets can get sexing a bunny wrong. Be safe. Spay and neuter.

Daisy is a very sweet, soft and kind hearted bunny. She is 100% ready for her furever family!

The things we go through the fasted are things bunnies love to chew. Bamboo sticks, palm leaf bowls and bunny treats are high up on the list. Pellets are always welcome as well as all the practical things on this list.

Daisy came over to get pets and love. She had the entire bunny garden to run and romp in but she has happy spending time with me.
She is an absolute gem of a rabbit. Clean, gentle and so soft. It’s but the best video but it captures her personality so well.

*A story about love and perseverance*
My little home experienced quite the event today. It left us shaken but ok. Without warning we had what seemed and sounded like a tornado go through the back of our property. This property is the home to 19 rescue bunnies. We have giant trees down but all fallen uphill and the electric was out for many hours.

With all the gratefulness in the world I am happy to say we are all ok and our home is ok. We have fences down and the seemingly impossible task of getting these large trees cut up and moved to mend the fences.

There was a moment where I was so terrified for every bunny in my care. I stood there and held one bunny out of the now 19 hoping that we would all be safe. It was just me and my youngest daughter who is 18 and there was no way to gather all of the rabbits as the house shook and the world outside howled.

That brings us to the the tiny bunny next to a credit card for size reference. It was sold to a tourist for $25 and she did no research. This baby is maybe 4 weeks old at best. It’s a little thin and hasn’t eaten hay or pellets. It still needs milk. It is illegal to sell rabbits before they are 8 weeks old. Please do not support breeders. Any money that goes into thier hands only promotes the breeding of more rabbits. While I have more and more discarded and abandoned rabbits these breeders are lining their pockets with the money they get from the suffering and abuse of these poor animals.

If anyone ever wants to learn how to rescue, what it takes to rescue and everything bunny please reach out. There needs to be other people in this area who love rabbits as much as I do. Someone out there willing to speak up for the bunnies that have no voice. I will help and I will teach you. I hope that every animal gets to experience the love that I have for each bunny that enters my care. While rescuing takes a certain kind of strength, it’s what keeps this world good. People who truly love and care.

As I stood in the kitchen with my daughter wondering if this storm was going to tear our home apart or if a tree was going to tear it in half my mind worked on a plan of how I would get all of the bunnies out safely. Thats the kind of love everyone deserves, including that tiny baby who was sold too young and would have certainly died.

Cookies is a gentle little soul. Abandoned in a cage with his siblings and saved by a nice young lady the 4 little bunnies made their way to me. Cookies loves to dig and to get pets and cuddles. He is as sweet as his name. He is neutered and ready for adoption. A big Thank you to The Well Kept Rabbit for donations of treats and toys. Every bunny is a big fan here and enjoy all of the fun and yummy things you send their way.

Would you like to foster first and get to know cookies? I can accommodate that too. As always I only adopt out to indoor homes. I will help with any education and rabbit knowledge I have to make the transition go as smoothly and happy as possible. Each bunny I rescue takes a piece of my heart with them. Remember this bunny? I named her Bunjellica. Someone saw her baby being chased by a cat and saved Lucky Charm. This led to learning of her existence. After monitoring her for a few days to see if maybe other babies survived we determined that they had not. She was trapped and has been with me since.
She was an extremely fearful bunny and who could blame her, what she went through was immense. The rescue spaces in my home are completely filled and she ended up living in a very very busy part, the laundry room and hallway to the back bunny porch. She hid so much at first. The porch door was always open so she could hang outside if it felt more comfortable. We were very hands off and would just speak to her in soft voices and give her food she liked. She slowly started coming out of her shell.

So here’s the funny part, she has become the only free roam bunny. She’s really never looking for a fight and just floats around from different area to different area saying hi to other bunnies without getting too close. She lets us pet her, most times. Loves playing cups and never tries to run away. Shes absolutely lovely. She has also met her baby Lucky and they love to say hi to each other through an X pen. Watching her heal and overcome her trauma is inspirational to say the least.

Just imagine that someone dumped this bright light of a soul for her and her babies to die. Bunjellica and Lucky Charm will be loved and cherished the rest of their lives.

Give all the bunnies a chance! Adoptions should be by personality. You could have a black uppity eared bunny that’s your true best friend just waiting to meet you!

It is heartbreaking to hear that REW and black bunnies spend years or even their entire lives at shelters just because of their look.💔 Black bunnies have gorgeous shiny black coats and great personalities. They are playful, curious, smart, and fun.💗🤗💗
Ruby eyed white (REW) bunnies tend to be some of the sweetest, most gentle, laid-back, and most intelligent breeds of rabbits.🥰

I hope one day people will realize that, and more of them will open their heart and home to those sweet and amazing critters as well.💗🙏💗

REWs and Black bunnies are some of the most loving bunnies I’ve had. I do not adopt out bunnies by looks. I adopt out bunnies by personality. The bunnies personality and the person adopting should be a great match for each other. Everyone wants a cuddly lop, they want “the cute bunny.” Give all the bunnies a chance. Your best friend might just be white with uppity ears and red eyes.

Congratulations to Petal and her new husbun Albus! Petal is mostly blind and partially deaf. Never stopped her from being adventurous and loving life to the fullest. Her new family are some of the sweetest souls I have ever met. She will spend her days surrounded with love and compassion. Sometimes I feel like certain bunnies are destined to find their people, when they do it’s like magic and it reminds me that all of the vetting and hard work I put into speaking with potential fosters and adopters is 100% worth it.

Donut is brimming with energy, zipping and hopping with glee. Her ears are a unique compromise, offering the best of both the lop and up eared bunny world.

After exhausting playtime, she needs treats and cuddles to recharge for round two. Donut is learning to be a tidy bunny and doing great so far. She would thrive as a free-roam bunny or a spacious home where she won't be lonely or bored.
