Meet a New family member! She is born a shocking February 14th, 2021. Next week she is 2 years and 7 months old! She was rescued living in very small crittertrail and never had any bedding changes. She loves sand baths, eggs.

Our sweet little Snowflake crossed the Rainbow Bridge last night, just days after losing our Pappi. She was injured as a baby, leaving her in constant pain with hip dysplasia. We took her in from Petco, after a call saying she had trauma, anxiety and could not be tamed a year ago. After a trip to the vet, diagnosed with hip dysplasia from trauma, put on meds she joined her forever home. Her "can not be tamed" was inexperienced employees because after a 30 gallon medical tank (Vet advised smaller due to her condition), a nite angel wheel we started to be greeted with licks, evwn on our lips! She just needed love. Our sweet, loving Snowflake you will be greatly missed! Forever and always.

Peanut has decided my son had to share his peanut butter and banana sandwich today. She wasn't happy a hammie after I said no more after 3 bites and chattered me. Such a sill girl!

Sleepy time comes with sleepy pets. We're here to ask for help for some burrowing options for our sleepy burrowing rescues.

As you can imagine, we go through a lot of bedding with all of these hamsters. Did you know the very best burrowing options for these cute hamsters is a combination of aspen shavings, orchard grass hay, paper bedding? Yes, we said burrowing. Hamsters are small crepuscular species whom thrive burrowing down in 6+ inches of bedding.

Traditionally, in our Sanctuary, we do 1/2 of the enclosure with 3 inches of aspen shavings (so the 12in wheel fits) and the other 1/2 of the enclosure is 2 inches of aspen shavings, 1 inch of orchard grass hay and paper bedding piled high for burrowing.

We are hoping to raise enough donations for at least a 3 month supply of bedding, as we undergo a lot of different changes.

Hamsterly Luv Sanctuary is different from your traditional Hamster Rescue. We don't adopt out our hamsters normally, as we are a Sanctuary. Our primary focus is hamsters with special needs care such as: Toothless, Brachycephalic, Hydrocephalus, Anxiety, Trauma, Cancer, Mobility. We also do take in rescue hamsters from time to time. With special needs care we require more than your average hamster care, as it is harder for these hamsters to remain healthy. These hamsters get loved, a place to call home, medical care, and a chance to live life as a happy hammie!

I think I need a bigger tank and a very giant wheel for this "Hamster". Silly boy, took over the intake tank the hamster came in after she was upgraded to a proper size enclosure (above 600 square inches)

Which ones are for the toddler and the hamsters? I made "Hooster Muffins" for Human and Hamster consumption. Just oats made into a flour, coconut flour, 2 eggs, 1 jar of sweet potato baby food that was close to expiration as the toddler won't eat any puree, frozen peas and carrots, baking powder. Now, this is human and hamster food - so it made a lot! Please only do peas and carrots in moderation for hamsters, as it is a bit starchy. I also added the last tablespoon of shredded cheese to this, it uh made sense and I hate to waste. All furry and two legged babies loved this treat!
