Snow in Mid-April? 🤮

I think we can all agree we’re done with winter. However, the snow added a bit of magic to Bubba’s photo shoot.

Banjo is a big dog in a little package. He has a great temperament and loves to be around his people but his quirks can make everyday activities difficult. Bikers, trucks and planes will put him into defense mode and he’s found safety in barking when ever they come by.

We will be building Banjos confidence and showing him alternatives ways of dealing with the stress. Over time his new coping skills will help show him that he has nothing to fear.

Banjo is already a star on the treadmill but we are going to teach him to run next to a bike to help overcome his fears and give him a nice a workout.

Raven is a sweet girl that craves attention but has issues with controlling her enthusiasm. She has a tendency to play rough with her brother Banjo and the cats in her home would agree that’s she’s a little too much.

Over the next few weeks we will be teaching Raven how to respectfully play with other dogs, basic obedience and most importantly how to “settle” in the home. Raven will also be learning to run on the treadmill and fetch the frisbee to help give her an outlet for her energy.

He’s taking his training very serious 😂
Briggs comes to us from Chicago to work on manners and general obedience. He’s a workhorse and his owners have had their hands full but they have done a tremendous job managing his energy and ensuring he’s getting the right exposure at an early age. We are happy to have him and look forward to hearing stories of his adventures in the future.

Gustav has been with us for the last 2 weeks to work through his manners and obedience. When he came to us he would get “mouthy” and then escalate to nipping. None of these behaviors were out of aggression. He needed direction and understanding of boundaries. His intelligence and willingness to work for his toy and food has made him a blast to work with and given us the opportunity to take his training further then expected!

Stella is staying with us for a few weeks to work on leash reactivity and aggression towards other dogs. Her size makes it very hard to control her when she lashes out. Just the sight of another dog tends to set her off. After a few weeks of training, she’s making great progress with remaining neutral around other dogs. Next step is to expose her to multiple dogs with varying temperaments.

Stussy is joining her littermate “Wyatt” in his Stay & Train. She’s a spitfire that needs help harnessing her energy into constructive habits. She is a sweetheart who just wants to make friends and we’re happy to have her!

Wyatt came up from Chicago to go through our Stay & Train program. He’s a rambunctious pup who just wants to please but needs some direction. We are helping him learn how to greet strangers without jumping, walk nice on a leash and hone his frisbee fetching skills!

Koa is staying with us for the next few weeks to address some anxiety issues. Koa lacks confidence around strangers and has a tendency to lash out when he feels pressured. He’s a sweet guy to the people he knows but often misinterprets humans intentions when they come to greet him. He’s gained a lot of confidence in the last week and can’t wait to see this boy thrive when he heads home.

Spider-Man is going through our day train program. He’s a 9 month old english bulldog with ALOT of energy. He’s got some habits that have been difficult for his family to break.
• Jumping up
• Mouthing / nipping
• Manners
We will be teaching Spider-Man how to keep his composure when he gets excited and the proper way to greet humans along with his basic obedience: heel, sit, down, stay and come.

Working with Abby on her “Down-Stay” around distractions. It’s important that Abby understands the difference between a command directed at her vs. one of the other dogs. Not because she lives with multiple dogs - because we want to ensure she is responding to the command not just the inflection of voice.

Brutus is going through our “Day Training” program Mon. - Fri. to work on focus and obedience. Brutus already knows with sit, down and stay but struggles to stay focused around distractions. Brutus is learning a swift recall, off-leash obedience and how to keep his cool around dirt bikes and golf carts.

Jack is going through his final phase of his “Day Training” program. We accomplished a lot in his last block of sessions.

✔️ Loose leash walking
✔️ Heel-Sit-Down-Stay-Come
✔️ Focus around distractions
✔️ Place Command

Our next block of sessions will be focused on - off leash obedience, making Jack comfortable with getting on/off the family boat from the pier and reinforcing his focus in high arousal areas like the park and beach.

During our private lesson with Brutus’ family they mentioned that he likes to chase dirt bikes and golf carts. No problem! This week I got him accustom to the bike and we made enough progress to go on a short ride around the neighborhood with him running alongside.

Jack’s been making great progress in his “Day Training” program. Learning to walk nice on a leash with all the distractions of downtown Lake Geneva is a big feat for such a young dog but he’s doing fantastic.

Jack is going through our “Day Train” program. His owners have done a great job of raising him but would like to take his training to the next level. Jack lives within spitting distance of Lake Geneva and is a regular at the beach so it’s important that he learns to play well with others and listen to mom and dad on and off leash.
