Common mynas are popular as cage birds for their singing and "speaking" abilities

The song sung by this bird has 8 stanzas (lines).

This bird also sang in the same way as the one who raised this bird, raised and lowered his voice for each stanza.

The bird finally sang all the 8 stanzas of the song in one go.

The cat

It is a domestic species of small carnivorous mammal.

It is commonly referred to as the domestic cat or house cat to distinguish it from the wild members of the family.

Cats are commonly kept as house pets but can also be farm cats or feral cats; the feral cat ranges freely and avoids human contact.

Domestic cats are valued by humans for companionship and their ability to kill small rodents.

About 60 cat breeds are recognized by various cat registries.

Dogs can cry tears of joy when they are reunited with their owners, a small study has found.

Canines may be genuinely thrilled when they see their human companions after a long period of absence, Japanese researchers have said.

The tears are believed to deepen the bond between dogs and their owners.

Ecstatic canines can well up when they are reunited with their human companions, a study suggests.

RESCUE MISSION

TODAY WE SAW TWO BEAUTIFUL WILD PIGEONS ENTANGLED IN KITE THREAD ( DOOR) AND HANGING FROM THE ROOF OF OUR NEIGHBOURS' HOUSE. I USED A LONG STICK TO BRING THE THREAD ON OUR SIDE OF THE HOUSE AND CUT THE THREAD WITH A SCISSORS TO FREE THEM..

UNFORTUNATELY THE PIGEON HANGING ON THE LOWER SIDE HAD THE THREAD AROUND HIS NECK AND WAS ALREADY DEAD. HOWEVER, LUCKILY WE WERE ABLE TO CUT THE THREAD ENTANGLED ALL AROUND THE OTHER ONE AND RELEASED IT AGAIN INTO THE AIR!

The photograph was taken while they were still entangled. The one below died and the one above survived

WALKIES COULD BECOME THE LAW FOR GERMAN DOG OWNERS

Under the planned rules, dog owners:

● Will have to take their dogs for walks twice a day for a minimum of one hour in total

● Will not be allowed to keep their dogs chained for long periods of time

● Will not be allowed to leave dogs alone the whole day

● Breeders will be restricted to looking after a maximum of three litters and puppies will have to spend a minimum of four hours a day in human company to ensure they get socialised

---> A draft of the new regulations has already been drawn up and could become law early next year. If passed, it will be up to the German states to enforce it.

Bradshaw argues that our fascination with pets is not because they’re useful, nor even because they’re cute, and certainly not because they’ll make us live longer. Instead, he writes, pet-keeping is an intrinsic part of human nature, one rooted deeply in our own species’ evolution.

Dogs and cats have helped us evolve into the humans we are today.

Domestication of cats

The earliest known indication for a tamed African wildcat was excavated close by a human grave in Shillourokambos, southern Cyprus, dating to about 9,200 to 9,500 years before present.

As there is no evidence of native mammalian fauna on Cyprus, the inhabitants of this Neolithic village most likely brought the cat and other wild mammals to the island from the Middle Eastern mainland.

Development of cat breeds started in the mid 19th century.

Domestication of horses

How and when horses became domesticated is disputed. The clearest evidence of early use of the horse as a means of transport is from chariot burials dated c. 2000 BCE.

However, an increasing amount of evidence supports the hypothesis that horses were domesticated in the Eurasian Steppes approximately 3500 BCE.

Recent discoveries in the context of the Botai culture suggest that Botai settlements in the Akmola Province of Kazakhstan are the location of the earliest domestication of the horse.

Use of horses spread across Eurasia for transportation, agricultural work and warfare.

Domestication of DOGS

The history of dog domestication is that of an ancient partnership between dogs and humans.

That partnership was likely originally based on a human need for help with herding and hunting, for an early alarm system, and for a source of food in addition to the companionship many of us today know and love. In return, dogs received companionship, protection, shelter, and a reliable food source.

The history of pets is intertwined with the process of animal domestication, and it is likely that the dog, as the first domesticated species, was also the first pet.

Perhaps the initial steps toward domestication were taken largely through the widespread human practice of making pets of captured young wild animals. Eventually, a working relationship developed between the dogs and their human captors.

The dog was swifter, had stronger jaws, and was better at tracking prey; therefore, it could be of great use in hunting and guarding duties.

From human beings, on the other hand, the dogs were assured of a constant supply of food as well as warmth from the fire.

There is indirect evidence that the dog may have been domesticated and kept as a pet since Paleolithic times, as can be surmised from the paintings and carvings that archaeologists have found in ancient campsites and tombs.

In Mesopotamia, dogs that look remarkably like the present-day mastiff were shown participating in a lion hunt.

Domestic pets were often depicted in the scenes of family life in ancient Egypt; hunting dogs of the greyhound or saluki type accompany their master to the chase, and lap dogs frequently sit under the chair of their master or mistress.

Pets are found in nearly every culture and society, pet keeping apparently satisfies a deep, universal human need.
