We did amazing at Expo richmond fair quebec this weekend! Junior Male from Orchard Bliss Baby Got Back won BIS! We won BOB in our category as well and the rabbits enjoyed the show!

🐰🌾In this months issue of Domestic Rabbit, our executive director has highlighted an excellent point I believe all breeders show adopt. On page 6, Mr.Stewart emphasizes the important agricultural fairs and showing rabbits. He says “ Fairs are also important as this may be the only opportunity many mainstream Americans have to learn about agriculture as well as the incredible world of rabbits and cavies. Even if attendees are not interested in raising rabbits or cavies, their understanding of healthy, realistic care expectations gained by talking with breeders can go a long way in preventing potentially harmful legislation initiatives being developed. Educating our fellow citizens is important to ensure our breeder rights.”

Unfortunately many breeders here in Quebec have the mindset to breed only the best of the best rabbits and show in sanctioned shows. However, in order to educate the general public, you need to be present where the general public will be. This is a wonderful informative article that Mr.Stewart has brought to the breeders attention in this months magazine and I hope many breeders take his advance and show at an agricultural show this season. After all, the history behind the associations begins in an agricultural show. 🌾🌾

******* Important update…

🚨🐰After a long reflection, I have come to the decision to stop breeding for a little while. With the increase in rabbits being abandoned, the rescue centres are overloaded. It wouldn’t be a responsible decision, as a breeder, to continue breeding, knowing that there is a surplus of rabbits that could use great homes. Thank you for understanding.

That being said, we have several rabbits available at the moment for forever homes so this is the last chance to get one, for a little while at least, from our Rabbitry.

Our website is up to date. The babies posted in this picture are ready to go but I will be super selective to whom they go home to so they’re not advertised on the website as being adoptable.

Lilac is accepted as Tort-Lilac since 2013 in the standard of perfection and Chocolat since 2016. These colors Will darken depending on genes used for breeding such colors 🧬

After a big weekend of petting and fluffing, I’d like to make this post an informational one. 75% of the people visiting the petting zoo this weekend came in the barn and yelled “wow an Angora rabbit” when they saw the Lionheads. A lot of new information was given to these people and it’s a very common mistake since the two breeds are very fluff and similar in some ways. On the left here, we have a beautiful REW Angora Rabbit. On the Right, we have 101 Clapiers Clover Dawn a Tort-Black Lionhead.

Malgré la pluie ☔️ nous avons eu une très belle fin de semaine au Salon du Patrimoine de Cleveland-Richmond,Qc 🚜🐰🎁
Lily was present with her babies.
Cottonfluff’s Lucky Charms and Eucalyptus were present.
Our little orphan was present as well and even got adopted!!

Pourquoi on oblige la signature de contrat avec tous les adoptions de notre élevage?
Voici l’exemple parfait.
Dans les deux photos, vous voyez un lapin qui n'est clairement pas un tete de lion. Il a été abandonné dans le village Hier soir... et oui… il est le 4e lapin qui a été abandonné devant notre élevage dans la dernière ANNÉE!

Ce pauvre lapin sautait dans la rue et il était chanceux de ne pas être frappé par une voiture… il est maintenant en sécurité chez nous.
Si je vois un de mes lapins qui a été élevé chez nous et qui c'est fait abandonné, ça me briserait mon cœur.

Un lapin c’est pour la vie. Garder ça en tête avant d’adopter.
