Bella got a little overly enthusiastic when we were preparing to go for a fish. She was so gentle as I removed it from her nose. Virtually all healed up already.

Great hunt over Bella the other night. Would never have found this deer on the hill without her indicating then leading me in after the shot, wind scenting to the blood trail then following the ground and blood scent to the deer. So rewarding.

Huge congratulations to Ainsley Harte and family after their vizla(Ginny, Ruby’s daughter) got her first deer.
‘Ginny’s first deer on Sunday night last week! As we were stalking this gully to our left she kept stopping to wind and point towards a pines block on our right - sure enough there were a couple of hinds and a spiker grazing about 500 m away.

Took her a bit to find the hind but she got there in the end! Proud dog mum moment haha’

So good. Well done to you both.

Another family walk in recent times down the sounds. Lilli nailed her first deer with a courageous neck shot that dropped it on the spot. Some great indicating from Bella once again

Fun family hunt that culminated in Esther nailing her second deer. Ruby performed well leading us in beautifully.

Bella did so well on this hunt a few weeks back. She indicated from these deer from inside the truck. When I let her out she led me to a lookout over a large gully system then indicated again. Getting out my Binoculars I saw these two deer at around 300 m deep in the gully. We stalked in to 200m then smoked these two lovely animals. She then performed a beautiful lead in and find on a thick hillside. 1.25 hour climb up the hill with two deer completely broken down and in my backpack. Such a rewarding hunt and she was so well behaved not going any further than 8 m in front and indicating a number of different deer during this over nighter with her.

Ruby was such a legend with my recent over night hunt as we nailed these two. Stags roaring all around us. The hind would have been unfindable for a human after the shot but Ruby tracked it on a overgrown hill face then locked up indicating. I couldn’t see a deer anywhere then realised there was a hole covered in bracken it had fallen into. Only an ear showing. Great to retrieve it due to Ruby’s skills.

Huge congrats to Andrew Wood and Beau for nailing this beauty roar stag while doing the hard yards out and about. Beau (2.5 years ish) is one of Ruby’s pups loving the mix of family and hunting life.

Always great to get out for a bush stalk over Ruby or Bella. Ruby winded a deer and led up in over 20 minutes to within 8 m from
It then locked up indicating. Then as I strained my eyes in the thick bush a deer erupted from just in front of us. Only able to see a tiny glimpse thru the beaches and saplings and it was gone. So rewarding even thou we didn’t get it this time.

Well it’s been quiet couple of weeks since all Rubys pups went to their fantastic forever home’s. Great feedback coming in of pups settling in well.

First pup flew to Auckland today. Very happy proud new owners met him at the airport. Settling in well already.

Pups all visited the vet and had their 8 week vaccinations yesterday. They were wormed and flea’d too. All received raving reports on their health and weight.
