What a thoughtful gift a special friend brought for Bella. She loves her new water system. Bella is a pretty 3 year old cat who is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She comes with a cool water dish 😆🐈😆

Beautiful pictures of Chloe

Chloe is a pretty 11(approx) yr old cat who came in from a shelter that closed. This girl is on the shy side & is slowing becoming more curious about her new surroundings. She would likely do well in a home with another cat to help her build her confidence. Chloe is a Maine C**n X. This girl is spayed and up to date on vaccinations.

AMBER is still looking for a home! Help us find one for this lovely girl

Beautiful Amber, declawed and ready to be adopted! Please help us find her a home!

Help us get as many adoptions as we can before we close in the next few weeks. 2 declawed cats available, looking for homes!

05/01/2020

Are you looking for a declawed cat? We do not declaw cats but sometimes they are rescued and arrive to us already declawed from their last home situation.
We currently have 2 adoptable declawed cats available. Amber and Albert. They would each like to be in a one-cat household as they each prefer to be the only cat. Amber is all black and Albert has a little bit of a tuxedo. Contact us if you are interested in learning more about these 2 or meeting them! 🐈

Videos of our adoptable cats Amber, Bella, and Albert coming this morning! They would each love a home of their own, preferably being the only cat in the household. We would love to get them adopted before they have to be transferred to the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter when we close soon.

Meet our lovely single cats available for adoption!
Amber, Bella, and Albert.
These kitties are all looking for homes where they can each be the only cat as they do not enjoy the company of other felines.
Adult-only or older children only homes would be most ideal.
Amber and Albert are both declawed.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night 🎄
We are so very thankful for all of our supporters and those who have adopted their new family members from us. As we move into a new year we face many changes, closing and moving the cats, and trying to get as many adopted as possible before our doors close for good.
We hope all our newly adopted kitties have a great first Christmas in their new homes, thank you for giving them a chance ❤

ALBERT is a lovely boy. Just look at him. He is declawed and came to us obviously suffering from some abuse. He does not like to be touched on his back, we are thinking there was some abuse or injury sustained there in the past. He is quite content to lounge around the house, and would do best in a quiet adult only home. The only reason being that children may attempt to pet his whole body and not understand his boundaries. He is a friendly boy, a long as his boundaries are being respected and understanding where he does not want to be touched. Would make a wonderful companion for someone. Do you know someone who could give ALBERT a home for Christmas? 🐈🎄

With some of our cats being transferred to the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter already, there aren't too many residents left here. Here are some of our remaining cats, many looking for a loving home.

In case you missed it:
The Blue Mountains Animal Shelter located in Thornbury will be permanently closing.
Arrangements have been made for all of our current cats, and Friends of the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter will be our cats' new home. We will slowly be moving the cats over to the GBAS in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, we wish to adopt as many of our current residents as we can. If you or anyone you know are looking to add a furry feline friend to you family, please contact us! We have so many loving cats looking for homes, at adoption fees of only $30-50, which includes full vet check, shots, and spay/neuter, this is a great and affordable way to add a new member to the family. Please share!! 🐈

The Board of Directors of the Blue Mountains Animal Shelter in Thornbury are pleased to announce that they have found the perfect match.

The Grey Bruce Animal Shelter (GBAS) will be assuming responsibility for the care and adoption of our cats, which will be gradually transitiondd to GBAS's new location.

The GBAS is a well planned, modern, spacious, and clean facility with it's own laundry equipment. It's supported by members and volunteers and has two paid part-time employees there 7 days a week. GBAS also has official Ontario charitable status!

The shelter is located on Concession Road 8, south of HWY 26. It's on a beautiful 5 acre parcel of land with outdoor runs for dogs and cats.

GBAS is also on social media. Their motto is "Offering a future of hope and happiness to displaced dogs and cats!"

Update 08/12/2019: SHADOW HAS BEEN ADOPTED!! thank you for giving Shadow a loving home!! 😻

Hello friends, my name is SHADOW 🐈😻
I am a 8~9 y/o female. I came to the shelter with my mom and siblings quite some years ago. My mother was adopted last year and now I am the only one of my family left.
I quite enjoy looking out the windows, and lounging in a windowsill or a perch high above where I can keep an eye on things. I am a shy and quiet girl. I am friendly and do enjoy being petted (and purr quite a lot when you find my sweet spot), but I need some time and patience before I am comfortable around you. I enjoy my separate space and may not actively seek you out, but I will stay in the same room and be approached.
I do not enjoy loud noises and get scared easily if you approach me too quickly or with scary movement. I may be best suited to an adults only household where I can have a more calm and relaxing environment.
I have obviously been around lots of others cats, and was quite close with my mother when she was still here. I could go to a home with other non-dominant cats (I am quite submissive and have been bullied by other cats before), or I could also go to a home where I am the only cat, I would be quite happy with either 😊
I would love to find a home for Christmas. My adoption fee is only $30-50! That includes all my shots and a vet check, and did I mention I am already spayed??
Do you know anyone who would like to add me to their family? Can you help me find a home? 🏠❤

The BMAS Story

The Blue Mountains Animal Shelter is a small not-for-profit charity dedicated to caring for surrendered, abandoned, and abused felines in the Town of the Blue Mountains, Thornbury, Clarksburg and Meaford areas. Our cats roam freely in the shelter, and also have access to a fantastic catio! Since our inception in 2005, our organization has grown and we gain new volunteers every year. Our dedicated volunteers work in the shelter every day administering medications, brushing and grooming, cleaning, feeding, and loving each and every cat. Although high quality cat care is our number one goal, we also do a lot of fundraising and work hard to find new homes for our cats! All proceeds from fundraising or adoptions go directly to our furry feline friends. Without the generosity of others in the community, and our volunteers, our cats would not have the incredible life that they do.
