Sunset walk at the park ❤️

We all love our time here together, and will be out as much as we can enjoying this nice cool weather. We gotta take advantage of the time we have before that hot Summer hits Phoenix again.

I’m committing to continue training the boys as much as ever, now with baby tagging along. 💙

It’s all about practice! After introducing the stroller to them at home, we are ready to take it out and about and I’m feeling super confident about their abilities too. Keep up the good work puppies!

So happy to see Flynn make huge improvements this week! He has been needing more socialization practice in his life, and he got tons of it this week. This is why boarding with a trainer who has years of experience with dogs and values building social skills is an awesome thing to do for your pup when your out of town. Not only does your dog get 24/7 care, but the right kind of attention and training everyday.

Sometimes we have to look beyond obedience commands, and really look at what does the dog need. Flynn has an amazing skill set as far as commands, yet that has nothing to do with how insecure or nervous he would feel around other dogs. Yet the desire to interact with them was there, so it was a matter of guiding him through each interaction and help him gain some healthy confidence.
Initially the focus was on working with my own dogs, Trooper and Jackson. As an Aussie, there was definitely an instinctive part of Flynn who wanted to control and police the 9 month old high energy puppy. So when we worked on curbing some of that, him understanding that he didn’t have to do that, it actually helped him relax more and get into play with Trooper. Likewise we practiced lots of training with them together too, which is integral for building a healthy relationship between dogs.
As the week went on, I also got to evaluate Flynn with more dogs and really get a feel for his behavior, and mental perspective on other dogs. This was great for me to gather more info since his family is hoping to adopt another dog in the near future and be able to hang out with Flynn with friends with dogs too. I’m happy to see him already just feel more calm and confident around other dogs and I’m hopeful for his family and their future.

This is so true!! Although the proper training gives them so much help, it certainly doesn’t mean we are done at some point. This is where we have to understand the level of commitment and continue the work, or else face consequences if we don’t.

If you hike with your dog, or just walk to gather through parks and trails, you need to know about keeping ticks off your dog.

It’s almost a full week of working with puppy Shelby! She is a four month old Goldendoodle who I am so happy to get to work with for the next couple weeks. I want to get her caught up on all her puppy training, especially since the family is going on a summer trip soon.

There’s truly a lot to consider when puppy raising! We have been working on crate training, potty training, obedience commands, socialization, desensitization, grooming practice, and so much more. So far Shelby is showing great progress and I am happy to get her ready for her big trip!

Fortunately a lot of puppy training can happen in the comfort of our own home and that’s what I love to help families with. Proper puppy raising helps provide a solid foundation for your pup to give them the best start in life and develop a healthy relationship with everybody in the family. It also helps prevent unwanted behaviors later in life so don’t delay because puppies can start learning as young as 10 weeks old.

She’s also been enjoying lots of play with my pups Jackson and Trooper. Not only do they help her with training exercises but boosting her confidence too!

Jackson got to show Trooper a new adventure today! They enjoyed their first day trip together to Jerome and then Sedona.

We had nice walks around town, some hiking and sightseeing which provided great socialization. Of course we had some Off-leash time too! This is why I love to advocate for the correct use of the ecollar, so we can create this kind of reliability with our dogs, provide for them the privilege of freedom, with the knowledge of safety.

At the end of the day we took time to visit one of our favorite places for dinner, Sedona Beer Company, where the dogs patiently waited in a Down Stay. Later on we allowed them to meet and greet another well-behaved dog there, Jack and the friendly staff too. This doesn’t happen often as we are very choosy who your pups get to meet, as you should be too!

It was a great time out indeed! They got to practice their training in a whole new place and have fun too. Good job boys!!

First trip for Jackson and Trooper to Payson - done! A day trip somewhere new for the pups provide so much opportunity for training and socialization. They got to experience, a whole new environment and practice everything that we work on at home. It was nice to get out and enjoy a change of scenery and some cooler weather too.

Changing up what we normally do with our dogs gives everyone a lot of good perspective. It brings out all their strengths and weaknesses. I love how it lets me know what else we need to continue to work on at home for a real life experiences like this in the future. It’s only fair that we do this practice to set them up for success!

The boys got to practice structured walks at a nice, shady park, duration, practice during lunch (with plenty of people and dog distractions), then some agility training for fun.

In fact, an onlooker asked me if we were training the dogs for something in particular. So naturally, I explained how this is just part of what we do. Training keeps them sharp and focused, plus they love it!!

I highly recommend to consider day trips for your pups to give them the same kind of opportunity, to broaden their horizons, and enjoy good fun together! We need to make these plans and take advantage of this time to really help shape them up into the best pups they can be.

With daytime temps on the rise, it’s a great time to practice more walks as the evening approaches. This can also be a great way to build confidence in your pup since the environment is totally different. Just your neighborhood can provide plenty of opportunities for distraction training.

As always, walks are a great way to provide stimulation for your dogs, work on their leash manners, and boost your leadership skills. What an awesome way to promote a healthy bond. Plus it’s a perfect way to wind down pups who are full of energy, followed by some Place practice at home. Even if walks are short they can be still be useful as a training opportunity to keep those obedience commands sharp and fulfill some of their basic needs.

So I hope you’re all getting out there and enjoying those night time walks! Your pups will appreciate too! 🥰🐶

Sometimes referred to as “swamp cancer,” pythiosis in dogs has a high mortality rate if not diagnosed and treated early enough.

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to understand how or why a person can let a dog out to die, no matter how many times I read the tales or how many cases I see on the internet. When you own a dog, you are fortunate to form a lifelong link with a creature […]
